Simulation for the Fuel Economy and the Emission of Diesel Hybrid Electric Vehicle (디젤 하이브리드 전기 자동차의 연료경제성 및 배출가스에 관한 시뮬레이션)

  • There are several types of environment friendly vehicle being developed by auto manufactures. HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) is most applicable one among them in actuality. HEV has two power sources, one is an internal combustion engine, the other one is an electric device. The HEV is developed for reducing fuel consumption and emissions. We selected the diesel engine as a main power source of HEV. The tests were carried out under different driving cycles which was CBDBUS (Central Business Driving Bus Schedule) and HWFET (Highway Fuel Economy Test). This research presents a simulation for the fuel economy and the emission of heavy diesel hybrid vehicle according to the SHEV (Serial Hybrid Electric Vehicle), PHEV (Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle), Plug-in SHEV and plug-in PHEV.

  • 본 논문에서는 유성기어를 사용한 직병렬 혼합형 하이브리드 자동차(SPHEV)의 파워트레인 모델링과 하이브리드 자동차의 모드(전기자동차 모드(EV), 엔진 모드, 하이브리드 모드(HEV) 등등)변화에 따른 파워 분배 및 동특성 해석에 대하여 기술한다. 내연기관, 전동기, Energy Storage System(ESS)과 같은 구성요소들의 정격은 에너지 개념과 Electrical Peaking Hybrid(ELPH)를 이용하여 설계하였으며, 동특성 분석을 위하여 전력전자 분야 에서 널리 사용되고 있는 시뮬레이션 툴인 PSIM을 이용하여 모델링 하였다.

  • Hybrid Electric Vehicle(HEV) and Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle(PHEV) will replace Conventional Gasolene Engine Vehicle at a rapid rate to eliminate emission gases and improve fuel economy. This review describes Fuzzy Logic Control strategy and Optimization for Parallel Hybrid Electric Vehicle. Recent progress on Electric Motor and Li-ion Battery for HEV and PHEV are given. Analysis on competitiveness of Korean HEV and PHEV technology based on the number of papers published and patents registered are also performed.

  • In this paper, engine clutch engagement shock is analyzed during the mode change of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Multi-driving mode includes the EV (electric vehicle) mode, HEV (hybrid electric vehicle) mode, and engine operating mode. Depending on the mode change, the engine clutch is either engaged or disengaged. The magnitude of shock during clutch engagement is very important because it impacts vehicle acceleration and clutch synchronization speed, which affects ride comfort substantially. The performance simulator of plug-in hybrid electric vehicles was developed using MATLAB/Simulink. The simulation results show that the mode change control algorithm is necessary for minimizing shock during clutch engagement.

  • This research presents a simulation for the fuel economy of parallel diesel hybrid vehicle. Diesel engines compared to gasoline engines have the advantages of higher fuel economy and lower $CO_2$ emission. One of the most ways to meet future fuel economy and emissions regulation is to combine diesel engine technology with a hybrid electric vehicle. The simulation of HEV is growing need for rapid analysis of the many configurations and component options. WAVE, a one-dimensional engine analysis tool, was used to a 2.7L diesel engine. ADVISOR, designed for rapid analysis of the performance and fuel economy of vehicle models, was used to conventional and hybrid electric vehicle by the use of output file from WAVE as the input engine data file for ADVISOR. A parallel diesel HEV is at least $19.7{\sim}36%$ higher fuel economy and improved acceleration ability compared to a conventional diesel vehicle. The energy loss of the parallel diesel HEV is $23{\sim}38%$ less than the conventional vehicle using regeneration.

  • 하이브리드 자동차는 동력을 얻기 위해 엔진과 전동기를 모두 사용한다. 이 하이브리드 자동차의 구동부 구조는 다양한 형태로 구성할 수 있는데, 이 중 직렬-병렬 구조는 엔진의 토크 및 속도 자유도를 모두 확보할 수 있어 높은 효율을 달성할 수 있다. 직렬-병렬 구조는 발전기, 전동기, 그리고 속도 분배를 위한 유성 기어를 이용하여 주로 구현되고 있고, 최근에는 다양한 새로운 형태의 전동기가 개발되어 이를 구동부에 적용하는 것에 관한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이 중 고정자를 회전자에 독립적으로 회전시킬 수 있는 새로운 형태의 전동기를 사용하는 구조에 관한 내용을 다룬다. 위의 전동기는 기존 구조에서 유성 기어 및 발전기의 역할을 대체하여 토크 분배 및 전기적 출력 변환을 수행할 수 있다. 또한, 회전하는 고정자에 인버터 회로를 탑재하여 슬립 링 대신 회전하는 고정자에 전력을 공급하는 방식을 제안한다.

  • Recent in the world environmental issues and energy depletion problems have been received attention. One way to solve these problems is to use hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs). Therefore, the interest in HEV technology is higher than ever before. Viable candidates for the energy-storage systems in HEV applications may be absorbent glass mat (AGM) lead-acid, nickel-metal-hydride (Ni-MH) and rechargeable lithium batteries. The AGM battery has advantages in terms of relatively low cost, high charge efficiency, low self-discharge, low maintenance requirements and safety as compared to the other batteries. In order to implement HEV system in required more electric power commercial vehicles AGM batteries was connected to 2 series-2 parallels (2S2P). In this study, a one-dimensional modeling is carried-out to predict the behaviors of 2S2P AGM batteries system during charge and discharge. The model accounts for electrochemical reaction rates, charge conservation and mass transport. In order to validate the model, modeling results are compared with the experimentally measured data in various conditions.

An Operation Algorithm for a 2 Shaft Parallel Type Hybrid Electric Vehicle for Optimal Fuel Economy (2축 병렬형 하이브리드 차량의 최저 연비 주행 알고리즘)

  • In this paper, an operational algorithm for a 2-shaft parallel hybrid electric vehicle is suggested for the minimization of operation cost. The operation cost is obtained as a summation of the engine fuel cost and the motor electricity cost. The electrical cost function is estimated in case of motoring, and generating when the recuperation is carried out during the braking. In addition, weight function is introduced in order to maintain the battery state of charge. Based on the operation algorithm, the optimal engine operation point that minimizes the operation cost is obtained with respect to the required vehicle power for every state of charge of battery. The optimal operation point provides the optimal power distribution of the engine and the motor for a required vehicle power Simulation was performed and the fuel economy of the hybrid vehicle was compared to that of the conventional vehicle. Simulation results showed that hybrid vehicle's fuel economy can be improved as much as 45∼48% compared to the conventional vehicle's.

  • This paper describes a hybrid dynamic system(HDS) modeling method and result for the drivertrain of a parallel hybrid electric vehicle(PHEV) which consists of a gasoline engine, an electric machine, and a continuous variable transmission (CVT) and proposes a drivetrain control system. The control system has an engine controller, a motor controller, a CVT controller and a supervisory controller for the coordination of all system. The controller keep the speed of engine wheel and the output torque within the optimal operation range based on the experimental data. We also developed a MATLAB/SIMULINK program for the performance simulation of PHEV drivetrain model and controllers and compared the simulation result with the experiment result in the recent literatures.
