Effects of Various Stress Histories Including Creep Loading on Strength of a Geogrid (크리프 하중을 포함한 응력이력이 지오그리드 강도에 미치는 영향)

  • PVC로 코팅된 폴리에스테르 섬유로 만들어진 지오그리드 보강재에 대해 변형률을 달리하여 단일 또는 다단 크리프 하중단계를 포함한 하중을 연속적으로 작용시킴으로써 그 인장파괴강도를 검토하였다. 연구결과, 동일한 변형률에서 지오그리드의 인장파괴강도는 극한인장파괴가 되기 전에 작용된 웅력이력에 의해서 거의 영향을 받지 않는다. 또한 지오그리드의 설계파단강도는 적정한 변형률하에서 정의되어야 하며, 변형률 속도가 빠른 인장시험을 통해 지오그리드의 설계파단강도를 얻을 경우 이에 대한 보정이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

Simulation of Ratcheting in Wheel-Rail Contact (차륜-레일 구름접촉에 의한 라체팅 모델링)

  • Ratcheting is a cyclic accumulation of strain under a cyclic loading. It is a kind of mechanisms which generate cracks in rail steels. Though some experimental and numerical study has been performed, modeling of ratcheting is still a challenging problem. In this study, an elastic-plastic constitutive equation with non-linear kinematic hardening equation was applied. Contact stresses in wheel-rail were analyzed. Under the tangential stress of the contact stresses, a cyclic stress-strain relation was obtained by using the model. A constant ratcheting strain per cycle was accumulated.

  • It is much expected that steel bridges, which have been damaged by increase of vehicle load and corrosion, need repair or strengthening. In this paper, the stress generated by repair welding under loading are analyzed by three dimensional elasto-plastic analyses. The longer and deeper repair weld line bocemes, the larger the magnitude of transient stress becomes. The magnitude of transient stress generated by repair welding under loading $({\sigma}_y/3,\;{\sigma}_a)$ is similar to summation of stresses generated by repair welding and loading. The longer repair weld line ratio(1/b) becomes, the larger the magnitude of transient stress generated by repair welding under loading bocomes. And, the longer repair weld line ratio(1/b) becomes, the larger the magnitude of in-plane displacement generated by repair welding under loading$({\sigma}_y/3,\;{\sigma}_a)$.

Shear Behavioral Model based on Shear Deformation Compatibility in Reinforced Concrete Members (전단변형적합조건에 기반한 철근콘크리트 부재의 전단 해석 모델)

  • This paper presents a model for evaluating the contribution by arch action to shear resistance in shear-critical reinforced concrete beams. Based on the relationship between shear and bending moment in beams subjected to combined shear and bending, the behavior of a beam is explicitly divided into two base components of the flexural action and the tied arch action. The compatibility condition of the shear deformation that deviates from Bernoulli bending plane is formulated utilizing the smeared truss idealization with an inclined compression chord. The Modified Compression Filed Theory is employed to calculate the shear deformation of the web, and the relative axial displacements of the compression and the tension chord by the shear flow are also calculated. From this shear compatibility condition in a beam, the shear contribution by the arch action is numerically decoupled. Then the validity of the model is examined by applying the model to some selected test beams in literatures. The results may confirm the rationale of the proposed behavioral model.

Survey of the Geology and Geological Structure of the Foundations at a Construction Site for Tram (경전철 건설구간의 지질 및 지질구조특성에 관한 지반조사)

  • The foundation area for tram contains biotite gneiss, quartzo-feldspathic gneiss, calc-silicate rock, and porphyroblastic gneiss of the pre-Cambrian Kyeonggi gneiss complex. These rocks record at least three stages of deformation, as indicated by fold sets of contrasting orientations (D1-D3). Joints are generally steeply dipping and strike NW-SE to WNW-ESE. The Gonjiam Fault, which strikes WNW-ESE, follows a river in the area. The fault possesses a 3-m-wide fracture zone, a 10-m-wide damage zone, and is 15 km long. Two tunnels have been constructed through the biotite gneiss. The geometric relationship between discontinuities (e.g., joints and foliation) and tunneling direction reveals that set 3 of the AA tunnel is unstable but that BB tunnel is relatively safe.

Geological Structure of the Metamorphic Rocks in the Muju-Seolcheon Area, Korea: Consideration on the Boundary of Ogcheon Belt and Ryeongnam Massif (무주-설천 지역 변성암류의 지질구조: 옥천벨트와 영남육괴의 경계부 고찰)

  • The Muju-Seolcheon area, which is known to be located in the boundary of Ogcheon Belt and Ryeongnam Massif (OB-RM), consists of age unknown or Precambrian metamorphic rocks (MRs) [banded biotite gneiss, metasedimentary rocks (black phyllite, mica schist, crystalline limestone, quartzite), granitic gneiss, hornblendite], Mesozoic sedimentary and igneous rocks. In this paper are researched the structural characteristics of each deformation phase from the geometric and kinematic features and the developing sequence of multi-deformed rock structures of the MRs, and is considered the boundary location of OB-RM with the previous geochemical, radiometric, structure geological data. The geological structure of this area is at least formed through four phases (Dn-1, Dn, Dn+1, Dn+2) of deformation. The Dn-1 is the deformation which took place before the formation of Sn regional foliation and formed Sn-1 foliation folded by Fn fold. The Dn is that which formed the Sn regional foliation. The predominant Sn foliation shows a NE direction which matches the zonal distribution of MRs. A-type or sheath folds, in which the Fn fold axis is parallel to the direction of stretching lineation, are often observed in the crystalline limestone. The Dn+1 deformation, which folded the Sn foliation, took place under compression of NNW~NS direction and formed Fn+1 fold of ENE~EW trend. The Sn foliation is mainly rearranged by Fn+1 folding, and the ${\pi}$-axis of Sn foliation, which is dispersed, shows the nearly same direction as the predominant Fn+1 fold axis. The Dn+2 deformation, which folded the Sn and Sn+1 foliations, took place under compression of E-W direction, and formed open folds of N-S trend. And the four phases of deformation are recognized in all domains of the OB-RM, and the structural characteristics and differences to divide these tectonic provinces can not be observed in this area. According to the previous geochemical and radiometric data, the formation or metamorphic ages of the MRs in and around this area were Middle~Late Paleproterozoic. It suggests that the crystalline limestone was at least deposited before Middle Paleproterozoic. This deposition age is different in the geologic age of Ogcheon Supergroup which was recently reported as Neoproterozoic~Late Paleozoic. Therefore, the division of OB-RM tectonic provinces in this area, which regards the metasedimentary rocks containing crystalline limestone as age unknown Ogcheon Group, is in need of reconsideration.

유한요소법에 의한 타이어의 변형해석

  • 유한요소법에 의하여 축대칭 정적하중을 받는 승용차용 래디알 타이어의 변형을 해석하였다. 요소는 8절점 parabolic-isoparametric 요소를 사용하였으며 타이어를 구성하는 cord-rubber복합체를 선형직교성을 갖는다고 가정하고, 그 복합체의 물성치를 간단한 식으로 표시하여 적용하였다. 공기압으로 인해 변형된 모양 및 cord에 작용하는 장력을 계산해 냈으며 이 변형된 모양을 plaster cast를 이용하여 측정한 실험치와 비교하였다. 또 타이어를 구성하는 구조가 달라지면 공기압으로 인하여 변형형태가 어떻게 변화하는가를 계산해 보았다. 이 결과로 belt의 cord수가 감소하거나 belt cord angle이 증가하면 타이어 외경이 증가함을 알 수 있다.

  • 터빈의 핵심구동부품은 손상이 누적되어 파괴에 이를 경우 치명적인 결과를 야기할 수 있기 때문에, 부품사용조건에서의 소성변형과 이에 따른 손상 누적을 정확히 예측하고 평가함으로써 균열생성 시점을 정확히 파악하여야 할 필요가 있다. 현재 터빈디스크와 같이 고온 고응력에서 사용되고 있는 소재부품의 수명은 궁극적으로 크리프변형과 피로시험의 공동작용으로 결정되며, 재료특성모델링 시험에 있어서도 dwell time 피로시험을 통해 dwell time 효과를 점검하고 점소성 재료변형에 근거하여 피로에 의한 변형 현상을 설명할 수 있다.

Time-dependent Deformation Behaviour of Queenston Shale (퀸스톤 제일의 시간의존적 변형거동)

  • This paper describes the design and construction aspects of time-dependent deformation test apparatus for slut.oiling rocks and presents the test results obtained using these apparatus. These tests are modified semi-confined swell test, swell test under uniaxial tension and swell test under biaxial stress. These apparatus measure the time.dependent deformations in three orthogonal directions of the test specimen under simplified field stress conditions. The test results obtained from these test apparatus for the last several years show that these apparatus have performed satisfactorily. The test results show that the time-dependent deformation behaviour of the Queenston shale is cross-anisotropic with higher swelling in the vertical direction (normal to bedding plane) than in horizontal direction (parallel to bedding plane) under free swell condition. The applied stress in one direction suppresses the swelling deformation in that direction as well as that in the orthogonal directions.

  • Characteristics and catalytic activities of 12-molybdophosphoricacid catalysts modified by ring opening polymerization of tetrahydrofuran (THF) were studied in this work. 12-Molybdophosphoricacid catalysts modified by THF showed higher conversions and product yields than the mother acid in the vapor-phase ethanol conversion. It was believed that the enhanced catalytic activities of modified 12-molybdophosphoricacids were due to structural flexibility of heteropolyanions and weakened hydrogen bond around heteropolyanions. THF interacted with protons and crystalline water molecules of heteropolyacids. The interaction between THF and heteropolyanoins, which crystalline water molecules act as intermediary, was the dominant factor deciding the catalytic activities of modified 12-molybophosphoricacids.
