변속제어 알고리즘을 적용한 휠로더 자동변속기 특성 해석 (Characteristics Analysis of Automatic Transmission for the Wheel-Loader with Shift Control Algorithm)

  • Wheel-loader is a construction vehicle for uploading soil or sand into truck and transportation of materials, which requires large driving power and high rotational speed. To improve the working efficiency, the operator has to shift gears and control levers for bucket & boom simultaneously. Therefore, the automatic transmission has been introduced to enhance operator's convenience and enable effective operation. To develop the automatic transmission for the wheel-loader, technologies such as gears and a clutch-pack design and shift algorithm are required for improvement of shift quality. In this paper, the shift algorithm for the wheel-loader was developed and its shift pattern was analyzed. As the shift control is affected by the pressure profile for the clutch control, the shift quality depending on the pressure profile has been evaluated using experiment and simulation model analysis.

  • 본 연구에서 개발하고자 하는 기기의 모델은 마이크로 컨트롤을 이용하여 모터속도를 제어 할 수 있는 출력 전자 변속기로써, 자동제어 방식을 사용하여 Switching frequency를 1,000MHz까지 가능한 형태로 변환하는 자동 변속장치이다. 연속출력전류는 5A, 11A, 18A, 25A, 35A, 50A이며, 사용되는 전압은 9V에서 최대 18V까지 가능하도록 설계하였다. Micro-controller 의 software와 hardware의 블록 다아이그램을 고안하였으며, 전력손실을 막기 위해 자동적으로 3.7V에서 Auto Cut-Off기능이 있도록 구성하였다.

  • A shift control algorithm of a newly developed two-speed gear shift system is proposed for electric vehicle applications. The algorithm is formulated according to the motor torque map and optimized to obtain the adequate propulsion characteristics for vehicle. Two speed gear system with shift control algorithm has proved greater efficiencies in terms of energy economy with its simplified hardware and software structures. The gear shifting is designed to be carried out by an actuator and the control signal from a vehicle control unit equipped with $\mu$-processor. The results of performances and efficiency of the algorithm by simulation and vehicle test are described.

  • In this study, a shift control algorithm far improving the shift quality of a parallel hybrid drivetrain with an automated manual transmission (AM) is proposed. The general AMT requires the sophisticated control of clutch in the clutch engagement to improve its shift characteristics, and that is generally known to be difficult. But in this hybrid drivetrain, we can control the speeds of clutch plates by engine and motor control, and it provides the easier clutch control in shift process than general AMT. Additionally, it permits the much-reduced shift shock. The motor control during the shift period is also to achieve reduced velocity drop of the vehicle in comparison with that of a general AMT. Furthermore various dynamometer-based experiments are carried out to prove the validity of the proposed shift control algorithm.

  • This paper suggests new hydraulic circuit to control the pressure of clutches and brakes which has several advantages than conventional hydraulic circuit in automatic transmissions. In conventional hydraulic circuit, the pressures of all friction elements are controlled by only one pressure control valve and accumlators. So, controllable range is limited and it is unable to control the friction elements independently. Therefore, we can not do the fine control of timing between apply clutch and release clutch which is needed in clutch-to clutch shifting automatic transmissions. To overcome these faults, we designed the direct-acting hydraulic circuit where one pressure control valve and pressure control solenoid valve are allocated to each friction element and control that independently. Through this structural improvement of hydraulic circuit, we can achieve elaborate aontrol to clutch pressure. Specially, We can control the timing between apply clutch and release clutch delicately which is needed in clutch-to-clutch shifting.

  • This paper suggests direct-acting hydraulic circuit to control clutches and brakes in automatic transmission. As only one pressure control valve controls the pressure of several friction elements with accumulators in conventional hydraulic circuit, the controllable range is limited. In addition, it is difficult to control the fine timing between apply clutch and release clutch. So, we designed new method to control the pressure of clutch which uses ressure control valve and pressure control solenoid valve independently in each friction element. through this structure improvement of hydraulic circuit, we can control the pressure of clutches and brakes finely and fine timing of between apply clutch and release clutch.

건설차량용 자동변속기의 변속제어기 개발연구 (A Research on Shifting Controller Development of a Automatic Transmission far Construction Vehicles)

  • In this research, a transmission control unit was developed for a wheel loader on the basis of 16-bit microcontroller system. The TCU has the basic functions which include shifting control algorithm, actuation of six proportional solenoid valves, signal conditioning for four speed sensors, remote data monitoring capability with RF-module and duty cycle identification system which could identify the duty cycles from PWM signals. In order to design the control system, the overall transmission structure of the wheel loader was investigated and its characteristics of shifting were analyzed in advance. For the purpose of identifying the existing control algorithm and acquire some information about the shifting performance, the shifting experiments were performed for various shifting conditions with the conventional TCU. From the previous work on the conventional TCU, the shifting scheme was designed with the open-loop control which is based on the experimental data only to verify the feasibility of the developing TCU's shilling capability. The experimental results show comparable shifting characteristics to that of conventional TCU though the tests were performed at restricted shilling conditions. Hence, we could have the confidence for the development of the wheel loader automatic transmission TCU and its shifting quality could be improved with the adoption of appropriate feedback control scheme.

  • An automatic transmission model using the bond graph techniques is developed for analyzing shift characteristics of vehicles. Bond graph models can be systemically manipulated to yield state space equations of standard form. Bond graph techniques are applied for modeling overall automatic transmission systems and shift models. A fuzzy controller is synthesized for the verification of a shifting model in the ${1^st} gear to the {2^nd}$ gear. Simulation results show the fitness of models by the bond graph techniques.

압력제어 방식 금속 벨트 CVT 변속특성 해석 (Analysis of Ratio Changing Characteristics of a Metal V-Belt CVT Adopting Primary Pressure Regulation)

  • In this paper, a primary pressure regulating type ratio control system is developed for a metal belt CVT, and the CVT ratio changing characteristics are investigated by simulation and experiment. The hydraulic part of the ratio control system has a simple structure with one 3-way spool valve as a main ratio control valve and one bleed type variable force solenoid as a pilot valve. The mathematical modelling of the CVT hydraulic system is derived by considering the CVT shift dynamics. Simulation results of CVT speed ratio and the primary pressure agree with the experimental results demonstrating the validity of the dynamic models. It is found from the simulation and experimental results that the response time of speed ratio and primary pressure can be shortened by increasing the ratio control valve port area, and the size of feedback orifice of ratio control valve gives a damping effect on the primary pressure oscillation.
