Low Complexity Motion Estimation Based on Spatio - Temporal Correlations (시간적-공간적 상관성을 이용한 저 복잡도 움직임 추정)

  • Motion Estimation(ME) has been developed to reduce temporal redundancy in digital video signals and increase data compression ratio. ME is an Important part of video encoding systems, since it can significantly affect the output quality of encoded sequences. However, ME requires high computational complexity, it is difficult to apply to real time video transmission. for this reason, motion estimation algorithms with low computational complexity are viable solutions. In this paper, we present an efficient method with low computational complexity based on spatial and temporal correlations of motion vectors. The proposed method uses temporally and spatially correlated motion information, the motion vector of the block with the same coordinate in the reference frame and the motion vectors of neighboring blocks around the current block in the current frame, to decide the search pattern and the location of search starting point adaptively. Experiments show that the image quality improvement of the proposed method over MVFAST (Motion Vector Field Adaptive Search Technique) and PMVFAST (Predictive Motion Vector Field Adaptive Search Technique) is 0.01~0.3(dB) better and the speedup improvement is about 1.12~l.33 times faster which resulted from lower computational complexity.

A new motion-based segmentation algorithm in image sequences (연속영상에서 motion 기반의 새로운 분할 알고리즘)

  • This paper presents a new motion-based segmentation algorithm of moving objects in image sequences. The procedure toward complete segmentation consists of two steps: pixel labeling and motion segmentation. In the first step, we assign a label to each pixel according to magnitude of velocity vector. And velocity vector is generated by optical flow. And, in the second step, we have modeled motion field as a markov random field for noise canceling and make a segmentation of motion through energy minimization. We have demonstrated the efficiency of the presented method through experimental results.

Infrared Reflector Design using the Phase Field Method for Infrared Stealth Effect (적외선 피탐지를 위한 페이즈 필드법 기반의 적외선 반사층 설계)

  • In this paper, infrared reflector design targeting infrared stealth effect is presented using structural optimization based on the phase field method. The analysis model was determined to accomplish the design that an incident infrared wave was reflected to a desired direction. The design process was to maximize the objective value at the measuring domain located in a target region and the design objective was set to the Poynting vector value which represents the energy flux. Optimization results were obtained according to the variation of some parameter values related to the phase field method. The model with a maximum objective value was selected as the final optimal model. The optimal model was modified to eliminate the gray scale using the cut-off method and it confirmed improved performance. In addition, to check the desired effect in the middle wave infrared range(MWIR), the analysis was performed by changing the input wavelength. The finite element analysis and optimization process were performed by using the commercial package COMSOL combined with the Matlab programming.

  • This study focused on the design of the reflecting layer of a light trapping system fora thin film solar cell using topology optimization based on the phase field method. Therefore, incident light was caused to propagate in the desired direction by reflecting it from this layer, which is the design domain. The same method was applied to the conceptual design of an infrared stealth structure in near infrared range. The results using the phase field method were compared with those using the density method. The design objective was to maximize the Poynting vector value representing the energy flux, which was measured in a measuring domain to control the reflected wave direction. A finite element analysis and optimization process were performed using the commercial package COMSOL combined with the MATLAB programming.

  • 임베디드 시스템에서의 코드 압축은 효율성 제고를 위한 필수적인 기법이다. ARM, MIPS등 많은 프로그램 코드에서 현재 시도되고 있으나 한계를 나타내고 있다. 특히, Arm Thumb 코드는 다른 코드 압축과 달리, 아직까지 15%-20%정도의 압축 효율을 보이고 있다. 본 논문은 다양한 값을 갖는 코드의 데이터이지만, 일정 부분에서 특정 값의 발생빈도가 높은 Thumb 코드의 분포를 분석, 그 특성을 활용하였다. 즉, 현재 압축하고자 하는 필드의 값을 코드의 앞부분과 비교해 나가면서, 유사도를 분석 및 압축하고, 거리 정보를 기록하는 방식의 거리 벡터 기법의 압축방법을 고안, 적용하였고, 그 결과 압축효율이 20-25%로 기존의 방법에 비하여 약 5%정도의 효율 향상을 가져 왔다.

Design of Decentralized Guidance Algorithm for Swarm Flight of Fixed-Wing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (고정익 소형무인기 군집비행을 위한 분산형 유도 알고리듬 설계)

  • This paper presents a decentralized guidance algorithm for swarm flight of fixed-wing UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles). Considering swarm flight missions, we assume four representative swarm tasks: gathering, loitering, waypoint/path following, and individual task. Those tasks require several distinct maneuvers such as path following, flocking, and collision avoidance. In order to deal with the required maneuvers, this paper proposes an integrated guidance algorithm based on vector field, augmented Cucker-Smale model, and potential field methods. Integrated guidance command is synthesized with heuristic weights designed for each guidance method. The proposed algorithm is verified through flight tests using up to 19 small fixed-wing UAVs.

Improvement of Direction-Oriented Interpolation for Deinterlacing (디인터레이싱을 위한 방향지향 보간법의 개선)

  • This paper presents, a deinterlacing method by improving the Direction-Oriented Interpolation (DOI) technique. The technique is considered to be a very strong tool for intrafield-based deinterlacing. However, DOI has some problems such as long processing time, wrong edge detection in periodic pattern. To remedy this problem, we replace the full search in DOI by a two-step search to reduce processing time and introduces two additional processes to improve image quality. In the proposed method, the spatial direction vectors (SDVs) misread data are reconsidered to prevent them utilizing in the next interpolation step, resulting in an accurate deinterlacing method. We conduct experiments with ISO experimental images to compare the proposed method with the existing methods including line evarage (LA), edge-based line averaging (ELA), DOI, selective deinterlacing algorithm (SDA). Experimental results show the proposed method gives better performance in objective and subjective quality than existing deinterlacing methods.

Adaptive Extended Bilateral Motion Estimation Considering Block Type and Frame Motion Activity (블록의 성질과 프레임 움직임을 고려한 적응적 확장 블록을 사용하는 프레임율 증강 기법)

  • In this paper, a novel frame rate up conversion (FRUC) algorithm using adaptive extended bilateral motion estimation (AEBME) is proposed. Conventionally, extended bilateral motion estimation (EBME) conducts dual motion estimation (ME) processes on the same region, therefore involves high complexity. However, in this proposed scheme, a novel block type matching procedure is suggested to accelerate the ME procedure. We calculate the edge information using sobel mask, and the calculated edge information is used in block type matching procedure. Based on the block type matching, decision will be made whether to use EBME. Motion vector smoothing (MVS) is adopted to detect outliers and correct outliers in the motion vector field. Finally, overlapped block motion compensation (OBMC) and motion compensated frame interpolation (MCFI) are adopted to interpolate the intermediate frame in which OBMC is employed adaptively based on frame motion activity. Experimental results show that this proposed algorithm has outstanding performance and fast computation comparing with EBME.

High-Speed Search Mechanism based on B-Tree Index Vector for Huge Web Log Mining and Web Attack Detection (대용량 웹 로그 마이닝 및 공격탐지를 위한 B-트리 인덱스 벡터 기반 고속 검색 기법)

  • The number of web service users has been increased rapidly as existing services are changed into the web-based internet applications. Therefore, it is necessary for us to use web log pre-processing technique to detect attacks on diverse web service transactions and it is also possible to extract web mining information. However, existing mechanisms did not provide efficient pre-processing procedures for a huge volume of web log data. In this paper, we proposed both a field based parsing and a high-speed log indexing mechanism based on the suggested B-tree Index Vector structure for performance enhancement. In experiments, the proposed mechanism provides an efficient web log pre-processing and search functions with a session classification. Therefore it is useful to enhance web attack detection function.

Automatic segmentation of non-rigid object in image sequences (연속영상에서 non-rigid object의 자동 분할)

  • 본 논문은 연속영상에서 non-rigid object를 자동으로 분할하고 알고리즘을 제안하였다. Non-rigid object는 형태의 변화가 일정하기 않은 object로서 기존의 분할 알고리즘과는 다른 새로운 분할 알고리즘을 필요로 한다. 본 논문에서는 특히 구름이나 연기와 같이 형태의 변화가 큰 non-rigid object를 자동으로 분할하는 알고리즘을 제안하였다. 제안된 알고리즘은 공간분할, 시간분할, 그리고 공간분할과 시간분할의 결합의 세 가지 단계로 구성되어 있다. 공간분할은 영상에서 픽셀의 intensity를 마코프 랜덤 필드로 가정하고 에너지 최소화를 통해 영상을 분할한다. 시간분할은 속도벡터를 기반으로 하여 움직임이 있는 영역만을 분할한다. 마지막으로 공간분할과 시간분할을 결합하여 non-rigid object의 최종적인 분할을 수행한다. 실험결과, 제안된 알고리즘은 연속영상에서 non-rigid object를 자동으로 분할함을 확인할 수 있었다.
