So the private security has emerged as a new industry for safety and security and became a crucial component. Private security is responsible not only covers the limitations of the police work, but also fills citizen's desire of security. However, quantitative research on private security has rarely been done and the results of the private security study are not effectively utilized due to biased research trends in Korea. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of community incivility on fear of crime and the moderation effect of private security. To accomplish this purpose, this research uses 6,919 samples from the National Crime Victimization Survey(2014) and conducts hierarchical regression through STATA 13.0 program. As a results, private security guard showed the main effect on the generalized fear of crime, but had not a significant influence on the interaction effect with the community incivility. On the other hand, the moderation effect of electronic security was statistically significant in relation to the community incivility and specific fear of crime. In other words, in a place with high physical disorder, the fear of crime is relatively low in the case of the electronic machine, compared with the case where there is no electronic machine. The implications and limitations based on these results are discussed in the conclusion.

  • Each field of modern society, industrialization and the development of science and technology are rapidly changing. However, as a side effect of rapid social change has caused various problems. Crime of the side effects of rapid social change is a big problem. In this paper, a model for predicting crime and Markov chains applied to the crime, predictive modeling is proposed. Markov chain modeling of the existing one with the overall status of the case determined the probability of predicting the future, but this paper predict the events to increase the probability of occurrence probability of the prediction and the recent state of the entire state was divided by the probability of the prediction. And the whole state and the probability of the prediction and the recent state by applying the average of the prediction probability and the probability of the prediction model were implemented. Data was applied to the incidence of crime. As a result, the entire state applies only when the probability of the prediction than the entire state and the last state is calculated by dividing the probability value. And that means when applied to predict the probability, close to the crime was concluded that prediction.

To be specific, we reviewed related academic literature and police official statistics of domestic burglary critically and interviewed detectives in charge of burglary to specify and categorize MO and tools. We can derive some implications from research findings, including improvement of the statistical system for the MO of burglary, active sharing of the MO of burglary among the criminal justice agencies and related industries and experts. Also, crime prevention advice and education for the local residents focused on MO of burglary can be recommended. Based on this research, to enhance the level of community safety significantly, performance tests of crime prevention hardware such as security doors and windows etc. and the study on related certification system should be vitalized.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the actual situation of crime victimization by North Korean defectors and to examine whether any of the protection and support systems for defectors has a statistically significant effect on the perceived effectiveness for preventing the criminal victimization of North Korean Defectors. The subjects of this study were 107 police officers from the 17 provincial police departments. Independent variables were (1) social adaptation education in Hanawon, (2) protection officer system, (3) legal support system, (4) private participation system, (5) support for family life, (6) community participation activity. And the dependent variable is the crime prevention effectiveness for the defectors. As a result of multiple regression analysis, it was found that the independent variables that have a significant effect on the effectiveness of prevention of crime victimization were protection officer system and support for family life. First, in order to prevent the crime victimization of North Korean defectors in advance, three kinds of protection officer system that will be received after the transfer of the residence should play the role successfully. Second, the efforts of the government and municipalities alone are insufficient for the early settlement of North Korean defectors. Therefore, it is necessary to diversify the support and protection programs for North Korean refugees through cooperation with civic organizations. Third, it is necessary to expand the legal education time so that North Korean defectors do not suffer crime because of lack of legal knowledge. Fourth, in order to prevent North Korean defectors from being victimized by various kinds of crime, it is necessary to actively support them so that family life can be stabilized.

  • The primary aim of this study is to provide effective operational directions of multi-purpose maneuver patrol via practical analysis on the fear of crime and its impact factors in the Hot Spots Policing target region. Comparative Analysis on fear of crime and its impact factors such as informal social control, disorder, and the perception of police activities is conducted in regions of maneuver patrol against its neighborhood. In Conclusion, no evident differences in fear of crime between the regions of maneuver patrol and its neighborhood were found. However, regions of maneuver patrol displayed significant distinctions in informal social control and perception of crime frequency in comparison to its neighborhood of no such patrol. In addition, it was noticed that in both regions disorder and perception of crime frequency served as the impact factors of fear of crime, which in part exhibits positive relationship with perception of hot spots policing. This study concludes that criterion in deciding on the regions of maneuver patrol should include subjective impact factors such as fear of crime. Furthermore, it suggests that along with the current unsatisfactory maneuver patrol system there needs specific guideline to enhance the perception of police activities including strengthened interactions with residents, improvement in social disorder.
