The present study analyzed the railway transport characteristics of bulk cargo flowing in and out of trade ports in South Korea. Bulk cargo transport in freight stations located behind trade ports was examined using actual flow data, and new implications were drawn accordingly. The results showed that bulk cargo volume in freight stations located behind trade ports is gradually decreasing, and it is also failing to secure a competitive edge against road transport. This downfall can be mainly attributed to the decrease in competitiveness of railway transport as well as the emergence of new trade ports that do not have lead-in track for port. Therefore, greater effort is required to strengthen the connection between new trade ports and railway freight stations.

It is debated whether the time value of bulk cargo should be reflected in the economic assessment of SOC investments. The purpose of this study is to present the basic considerations that should be addressed to reflect the time value of bulk cargo. The study first tried to understand the status of foreign countries, related research cases, and the limitations of applying findings to the domestic situation. Further, the method of reflecting the time value of bulk cargo, as well as the extent to which it is reflected, varies across countries. Furthermore, the reflection of the time value derived from the transport selection model remains a controversial issue. To overcome these limitations, this study suggests basic environment considerations to reflect time. Although the need to reflect the time value of bulk cargo is fully recognized, it seems that there are issues that need to be reviewed and solved before its actual implementation. To complement this, further research needs to be conducted, and it is expected that more clear guidelines will emerge.

The present study aims to evaluate transfer resistance factors in railway stations and draw new implications. The data used for the model estimation are RP (revealed preference) data and SP (stated preference) data. Two types of models were used for the analysis: integration model which combined line-haul stage, transfer stage and shuttle stage and separation model which assessed the three stages separately. The results revealed that while bulk freight shippers mainly focused on line-haul stage, they put emphasis on transfer stage as well. It's especially notable that transfer stage was considered more important than shuttle stage. Therefore, in future transportation policies concerning rail freight, it would be crucial not only to enhance the competitiveness of line-haul stage but also make improvements in transfer stage regarding railway stations.

Freight transport by railway is gaining more attention at present as a countermeasure against global warming. In keeping with this purpose, the present study examined various methods for promoting railway use through minimization of the transfer resistance of bulk freight at railway stations. First, the transfer-related factors that shippers consider as important when choosing railway as a transport mode were identified. Also, the relative importance and the level of influence of each factor during the transfer stage were evaluated. Policy directions for reducing transfer resistance in railway stations were then proposed based on the analysis of the transfer resistance factors. The policy directions include both hardware and software approaches. The necessary reduction ranges with regard to the transfer cost and time through policy implementation efforts were suggested as well.

우리나라는 수출입화물의 99% 이상이 항만을 통해 해외로 운송되고 있는 관계로 해상화물 운송이 국가적으로 매우 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있다. 해상화물은 크게 일반화물(벌크화물)과 컨테이너화물로 구분되는데 컨테이너화물은 갈수록 그 비중이 증가하고 있어 국내 물류망 개선뿐만 아니라 물류비 인하와 관련해 매우 중요한 부분을 차지하고 있다. 따라서 컨테이너화물의 운송에 대한 기초 연구들은 사회경제적으로 매우 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2011년 기준 우리나라 컨테이너화물의 내륙기종점(O/D)에 관한 연구 분석결과를 중심으로 국내 수출입컨테이너의 주요 항만별, 수입 수출별, 내륙시도별 분포 현황을 살펴 본 후 그 시사점을 도출하고자 한다.

The steel cargoes as the core raw materials for the manufacturing industry have important roles for increasing the handling volume of the port. In particular, steel cargoes are fundamental to vitalize Port of Incheon because they have recognized as the primary key cargo items among the bulk cargoes. In this respect, the IPA(Incheon Port Authority) ambitiously developed the port complex facilities including dedicated terminals and its hinterland in northern part of Incheon. However, these complex area has suffered from low cargo handling records and has faced operational difficulties due to decreased net profits. In general, the import and export steel cargo volumes are sensitively fluctuated followed by internal and external economy index. There is a scant of research for forecasting the steel cargo volume in Incheon port which used in various economy index. To fill the research gap, the aim of this research is to predict the steel cargoes of Port of Incheon using the well established methodology i.e. System Dynamics. As a result, steel cargoes volume dealt with in Incheon port is forecasted from about 8 million tons to about 10 million tons during simulation duration (2011-2020). The Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) is measured as 0.0013 which verifies the model's accuracy.

한국통합물류협회는 2월 21일 정기총회에서 천일정기 화물자동차(주) 박재억 대표이사를 제3대 회장으로 선임하였다. 대기업만이 아닌 많은 중소기업으로 이뤄진 통합물류협회는 모두의 이익을 조화롭게 조율할 수 있는 회장을 통해 업계 발전을 이룬다는 목표 아래, 전 물류영역을 아우르는 다양한 경험을 가진 박재억 회장을 선임했다고 밝혔다. 박재억 신임회장은 전일정기화물자동차(주)를 이끌연서, 컨테이너와 벌크화물 운송, 특수화물, 철강 및 철도운송, 항만하역사업, 자동차부품운송, 택배, 창고 등 물류 전 영역에서 물류정보화, 정시운송시스템 도입과 독보적인 조달물류 분야 개척 등 우리나라 물류경쟁력 확보에 앞장서 왔다. 3월 20일 열린 기자간담회를 통해 박재억 신임회장에게 협회 운영 계획에 대한 견해를 들어보았다.

China is pushing a policy called China's Western Development in order to balance the continent's development level. They are connecting the rich natural resources of the mid-western areas and the capital of the eastern coastal areas of China. Since Korea depends on China the most for trade, it is necessary for Korea to always consider the trade scale and pattern changes of China. Response to changes in the transport and logistics system between the two countries is also demanded. This study aims to analyze the import and export trends between Korean and Chinese provinces of each item from the trade scale point of view. China's global trade routes reorganization and China's western development are considered and the corresponding direction is presented accordingly. The study also suggests strategies to expand the import and export scale with China based on the analysis.
