Capsule endoscopes generally use primary cells as a power source due to its limited space. However, the primary cells have several limitations such as high cost, limited power and no reuse. To solve these problems, a new wireless energy transmission method is proposed. The proposed approach uses air-gap transformer concepts and LC resonance to transmit energy from transmitter(primary side) to capsule endoscopes(secondary side). The ferrite core with 3-axis winding is used to increase energy transfer efficiency regardless of direction and location. The experimental results show that the proposed method stably supplies 30mW power to secondary circuit.

There have been lots of researches on the optimal relay selection in relay-based systems. However, most researches have been focused on the maximization of transmission capacity with a constraint of sum power at both transmitter and relays. In Ad-hoc networks where relays have batteries of limited power, it is imperative to minimize the energy consumption while maintaining the required quality-of-service (QoS). In this paper, we propose an optimal relay selection strategy to minimize the relay power consumption while satisfying the required signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). Through intensive simulations, we show the proposed method is more effective in terms of energy consumption and guarantee lower transmission failure probability in multi-hop Ad-hoc environments.

Recently military industrial company, utilizing company funded R&D and goverment and industry contracts, has developed ACTS/DACS technology. This technology can be utilized to rapidly steer "smart" bullets, "smart" rounds, tactical missile, cruise missile and kill vehicles for both endo- and exoatmospheric applications. The ACTS/DACS typically consists of a Smart Bus Controller(SCB), a proprietary network firing bus, Smart Pyrotechnic Devices(SPD), rocket motors, and a structure. The SCB communicates with the SPDs over the propretary network firing bus. Each rocket motor contains an SPD which provides rocket motor ignition. Firing energy is stored locally in the SPD so surge currents do not occur in the system as rocket motors are fired. This approach allows multiple, truly simultaneous firings without the need for large, dedicated batteries. Each SPD also functions as a network tranceiver and high reliability fir set all in the space of a single-sided 10 millimeter diameter circuit. The present work develops a new means for igniting explosive materials. The volume of semiconductor bridge (SCB) is over 30 times smaller than a conventional hot wire. We believe that the present work has a potential for development of a new igniter such as smart pyrotechnic device.

Owing to the present problems of air pollution and fossil fuel exhaustion, ongoing research has been actively focused on developing an electric actuator system that can utilize diverse energy sources without producing any exhaust gas. Since the motors of such electric vehicles generally rotate at a high speed, the initial acceleration capability required for an automobile is insufficient. In this study, the motor output was decelerated by the transmission; the initial acceleration of the vehicle was increased, and the motor size and weight were reduced. The driving motor and transmission, which each form isolated structures, were integrated to simplify the connector for input and output. By reducing the cooling system's capacity, a vehicle was designed and manufactured that represents a structural change in effective technology.
Sensor network consists of a large number of sensor nodes that are densely deployed either inside the phenomenon or very close to it. The life time of each node in the sensor network significantly affects the life time of whole sensor network. A node which drained out its battery may incur the partition of whole network in some network topology The life time of each node depends on the battery capacity of each node. Therefore if all sensor nodes in the network live evenly long, the life time of the network will be longer. In this paper, we propose Cluster-Based Power-Efficient Routing (CBPER) Protocol which provides scalable and efficient data delivery to multiple mobile sinks. Previous r(luting protocols, such as Directed Diffusion and TTDD, need to flood many control packets to support multiple mobile sinks and many sources, causing nodes to consume their battery. In CBPER, we use the fact that sensor nodes are stationary and location-aware to construct and maintain the permanent grid structure, which makes nodes live longer by reducing the number of the flooding control packets. We have evaluated CBPER performance with TTDD. Our results show that CBPER is more power-efficient routing protocol than TTDD.
A supercapacitor, also called an ultracapacitor or an electrochemical capacitor, stores electrochemical energy by the adsorption/desorption of electrolytic ions or a fast and reversible redox reaction at the electrode surface, which is distinct from the chemical reaction of a battery. A supercapacitor features high specific power, high capacitance, almost infinite cyclability (~ 100,000 cycle), short charging time, good stability, low maintenance cost, and fast frequency response. Supercapacitors have been used in electronic devices to meet the requirements of rapid charging/discharging, such as for memory back-up, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS). Also, their use is being extended to transportation and large industry applications that require high power/energy density, such as for electric vehicles and power quality systems of smart grids. In power generation using intermittent power sources such as solar and wind, a supercapacitor is configured in the energy storage system together with a battery to compensate for the relatively slow charging/discharging time of the battery, to contribute to extending the lifecycle of the battery, and to improve the system power quality. This article provides a concise overview of the principles, mechanisms, and classification of energy storage of supercapacitors in accordance with the electrode materials. Also, it provides a review of the status of recent research and patent, product, and market trends in supercapacitor technology. There are many challenges to be solved to meet industrial demands such as for high voltage module technologies, high efficiency charging, safety, performance improvement, and competitive prices.
