3-D Aeroelastic Model Test of a Cable-Stayed Bridge with a Main Span of 1,200m (주경간장 1,200m 사장교의 3차원 풍동실험)

  • 사장교의 적용지간이 증가하여 초장대화하면서 구조안전성을 확보하기 위한 다양한 노력이 시도되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재까지 시도된 적이 없는 주경간 1,200m 사장교의 내풍안정성을 검토하기위하여 3차원공탄성 모형을 제작하고 풍동실험을 수행하였다.(그림1 참조) 실험대상 구조물은 내풍안정성 증대를 위해 유선형 박스거더를 채용하고 케이블이 거더와 함께 비틀림에 저항하도록 2면 케이블을 적용하였다. 구조적인 측면에서는 보강형 자중감소를 위해 전경간을 강박스로 계획하였으며 측경간에 부반력제어를 위한 Counter Weight을 적용하였다. 실험대상 구조물은 완성계, 가설계95%, 가설계50%, 가설계45%로 모형을 해체하면서 진행하였고 가설단계 별로 내풍케이블의 수량과 형상을 달리하여 내풍안정성 개선효과를 확인하고자 하였다. 3차원 풍동실험 결과 완성계에서 교량의 안전성에 심각한 문제를 발생시킬 수 있는 와류진동, 플러터, 버페팅과 같은 유해한 진동현상이 발견되지 않았으며, 시공중 내풍안정성 확보를 위하여 대상교량에 내풍케이블을 설치하고 내풍케이블의 수량 및 배치형상에 따른 진동제어 효과를 검토하였다. 본 실험은 현재 풍동실험 요소기술을 이용하여 1,200m급 사장교 풍동실험을 수행하였고 이에 따라 교량이 초장대화 되면서 스케일다운에 따른 보강형질량, 케이블 간격 등 실험모형 제작상 문제점을 확인 할 수 있었으며 이러한 경험을 토대로 향후 1,000m 이상급 초장대 사장교 내풍설계를 위한 기초자료로 활용이 가능할 것으로 사료된다.

A Study on the Generation of Block Projections for the Assembly Shops (정반 배치용 블록 투영 형상 생성에 관한 연구)

  • To raise the industrial competitiveness in the field of ship-building, it is crucially important that the yard should use production facilities and working space effectively. Among the related works, the management of tremendous blocks' number, the limited area of assembly shops and inefficient personnel and facility management still need to be improved in terms of being exposed to a lot of problems. To settle down these conundrums, the various strategies of block arrangement on the assembly floors have been recently presented and in the results, have increasingly began to be utilized in practice. However, it is a wonder that the sampled or approximated block shapes which usually are standardized projections or the geometrically convex contour only have been prevailed until now. In this study, all parts including the panel, stiffeners, outer shells, and all kinds of outfitting equipment are first extracted using the Volume Primitive plug-in module from the ship customized CAD system and then, the presented system constructs a simpler and more compact ship data structure and finally generates the novel projected contours for the block arrangement system using the adaptive concave hull algorithm.

Topology Design Optimization using Projection Method (프로젝션 기법을 활용한 위상 최적설계)

  • In this paper, a projection method is introduced which is used in topology design optimization. In the projection method, each active design variable is projected onto the design domain depending on the shape and size of the projection functions, and the finite element under this projection receives a solid material. Furthermore, the size of the projection function defines the minimum length scale of the structural members. Therefore, a designer can easily apply design constraints without complicated post-processing procedure. In addition, the projection method can be combined with the homogenization theory, and applied to material design problem for composite materials. Topology design optimization for the unit-cell of the periodic structures can maximize the effective material properties, which yields the optimal material distribution with maximum bulk or shear moduli under a given volume fraction.

  • A conceptual design of propulsion system for a geosynchronous communication satellite with 12 years design life is presented in this paper. Propellant mass budget for the design life is calculated using total velocity increment ($\Delta$V) flowed-down from mission requirement analysis. Sizes of the fuel and oxidizer tank are derived based on the calculated propellant mass budget, and mass of the pressurant as well as the size and Pressure of pressurant tank are calculated too. Thruster positioning, number of rocket engines, and position of tank are determined through trade-off study with Structure & Mechanical Subsystem. Propulsion system configuration and its schematics are presented finally.

Thrust Characteristics of Dual Flapping Airfoils in a Biplane Configuration (복엽기 배치의 복식 플랩핑 에어포일들의 추력 특성)

  • The wake patterns and thrust characteristics of dual flapping airfoils in a biplane configuration are investigated using an unsteady panel method. To trace complicated wake shapes behind airfoils, a core addition scheme, a vortex core model, and the fourth order Runge-Kutta convection scheme are employed. Present results are verified by comparing them with flow visualization, exact solution and published computed results. The thickness and camber of thick airfoils has an effect of decreasing thrust. The airfoils produce maximum thrust when the phase angles between plunging and pitching motions are both 90 and 120 degrees. Thrust increases as the plunge velocity is increased, which is also found as the pitch amplitude is stepped up. Thrust decreases when the distance between the airfoils is less than 0.6c.

  • Reactants of PEMFC are hydrogen and oxygen in gas phases and fuel cell overpotential could be reduced when reactants are smoothly transported. Numerous studies to modify cathode flow field design have been conducted because oxygen mass transfer in high current density region is dominant voltage loss factor. Among those cathode flow field designs, a block in flow field is used to forced supply reactant gas to porous gas diffusion layer. In this study, the block was installed on a simple fuel cell model. Using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), effects of forced convection due to blocks on a polarization curve and local current density contour were studied when different air flow rates were supplied. The high current density could be achieved even with low air supply rate due to forced convection to a gas diffusion layer and also with multiple blocks in series compared to a single block due to an increase of forced convection effect.

3-D Optimal Disposition of Direction Finders (방향탐지장비의 삼차원 최적 배치)

  • In this paper, a simulation-based method is presented to dispose direction finders in three dimensional space for locating targets using the directional data. A direction finder(DF) is a military weapon that is used to find locations of targets that emit radio frequencies by operating two or more DFs simultaneously. If one or more DFs are operated in the air, the accuracy of location estimation can be enhanced by disposing them in a better configuration. By extending the line method, which is a well-known algorithm for 2-D location estimation, into 3-D space, the problem of 3-D location estimation is defined as an nonlinear programming form and solved analytically. Then the optimal disposition of DFs is considered with the presented method in which methods of simulation and search technique are combined. With the suggested algorithm for 3-D disposition of DFs, regions in which targets exist can be effectively covered so that the operation effect of DF be increased.

Site-Plan Types of Common Design's Goon Office Buildings and their Addition & Remodeling in Japanese Colonial Period (일제강점기 '공통형' 군청사의 배치 유형과 유형별 증·개축 경향)

  • The purpose of this study is is to organize the site-plan types of common design's Goon office buildings in Japanese colonial period based on the main building's shape and main & attached building connection way and to investigate all the types' addition & remodeling ways. The study used literature research method, analysing the digital images, the annotation of the images, official documents between the Japanese government-general of Korea and To, and articles of newspapers or journals. The site-plans are sorted 5 types and subdivided 13 as their addition & remodelling ways. The initial shapes of site-plan were changed to apply every Goon's site circumstances, The main buildings were always in the center ahead and attached buildings behind or next to them in any cases of new construction, addition or remodeling. The buildings of the common design's were constructed until early 1930s and it means that their architectural level was lower than Pu office buildings, although both had same administrational level.

A Study on Analysis of vortex and Wave Screening Performance for Fixed-Floating Breakwater According to Cross section (단면형상 변화에 따른 고정된 부유식방파제의 유동장 분석과 소파성능에 관한 연구)

  • 기존의 착저식 방파제를 보완하기 위하여 부유식 방파제가 개발되었고, 많은 연구가 선행되어 왔다. 부유식 방파제의 최대 장점은 경제성과 친환경성이다. 그러나 부유식 방파제는 소파성능이 떨어진다는 단점이 있으며, 이를 개선하기 위해 잠재와 혼용, 배열형에 관한 연구등이 선행되어왔다. 그러나 이것은 경제성이라는 강점을 고려하지 못하였다. 그래서 본 연구에서는 부유식 방파제의 중요한 장점중 하나인 경제성을 고려해, 단면현상 변화만을 이용하여 부유식 방파제의 소파성능 개선하고자 하였다. RANS(Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes) 방정식에 기초하여 VOF법과 $k-{\varepsilon}$ 난류모델을 결합한 수치모델인 CADMAS-SURF를 이용하였으며, 구조물 단면형상 변화를 이용해 와의 상호 간섭을 유도하였고, 이에 따른 투과율 변화를 관찰 하였다. 결과를 살펴보면 요철1 단면에서는 구조물 전면 하단부분과 구조물 후면 하단부분에서 와의 간섭이 일어났으며 가장 아래 요철 부분에서 유속의 전달현상이 보인다. 투과계수는 일반적인 부유식 방파제와 마찬가지로 L/B가 1~4사이 값인, 비교적 단주기에서는 0.3~0.4의 투과율을 보였으나 L/B가 5를 넘어가면서 0.45~0.55의 투과율을 보였고, 요철2 단면에서는 전면과 후면에서 발달한 와가 전, 후면 돌출부에 의해 바닥까지 전파되지 못하는 양상을 보였으며, 돌출부 사이 중앙부분에서 가장 활발한 와의 간섭을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 돌출부 아래에서 역시 강력한 와의 간섭을 보이고 있다. 투과율 역시 가장 낮은 값을 보였으며 비교적 단주기 구간인 B/L 1~4 에서는 0.2~0.35 사이의 값을 가졌으며 5~10사이구간에서는 0.35~0.34의 값을 보이고 있다. 이 같은 결과는 와의 간섭이 가장 활발하게 나타난 결과로 보인다. 그리고 요철 3단면에서는 전면 돌출부 끝단에서의 활발한 와의 간섭을 관찰 할 수 있었다. 투과율은 세 단면 중 가장 높은 값의 투과율을 보이지만 B/L 3~4 구간에서 요철1 경우보다 낮은 값의 투과율을 보이고 있다. 결과에서 보듯이 도출부의 적절한 조합과 배치를 통해 언급한 연구목표(와의 생성과 간섭, 방파효율 개선)를 달성하였고 추후에 돌출부의 크기와 배치, 흘수의 영향, 수심의 영향 등을 고려한 연구가 진행된다면 더욱 우수한 단면형상을 개발 할 것이라 예상된다.

Multi-Shape Retrieval Using Multi Curvature-Scale Space Descriptor (다중 곡률-단계 공간 기술자를 이용한 다중형상 검색)

  • 2-D shape descriptors, which are vectors representing characteristics of shapes, enable comparison and classification of shapes and are mainly applied to image and 3-D model retrieval. Existing descriptors have limitations that they only describe shapes of single closed contours or lack in precision, making it difficult to be applied to shapes with multiple contours. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new shape descriptor called Multi-Curvature-Scale Space that can be applied to shapes with multiple contours. Specifically, we represent the topology of the sub-contours in the multi-contour along with Curvature-Scale Space descriptors to represent the shapes of each sub-contours. Also, by allowing the weight of each component to be controlled when computing the distance between descriptors the weight, we deal with ambiguities in measuring similarity between shapes. Results of various experiments that prove the effectiveness of proposed descriptor are presented.
