Development of Abutment-H pile Connection for Large Lateral Displacements of Integral Abutment Bridges (일체식 교대 교량의 대횡변위를 위한 교대와 H형 말뚝 연결부의 개발)

  • Abutment-to-pile connection in an integral abutment bridge is vulnerable to lateral displacement induced by thermal movement of the superstructure. However, previous researches have merely focused on the connection. In order to improve the performance of the connection, new abutment-to-pile connection designs were proposed based on quasi-static nonlinear finite element model. The reinforcement detail specified in PennDOT DM4 and HSS tube were barely effective in controlling crack growing but spiral rebar effectively performed to delay crack growth as well as absorbing energy capacity. However, it was found that delaying cracking and strengthening the connection also caused the high lateral load in superstructures. Consequently, shape of HP pile were modified to introduce plastic hinge of the HP pile for reducing the lateral load in superstructures. Connections with modified HP pile significantly prevented crack propagations under the lateral displacement.

The Relationship between Grain Design and Non-uniform Ablation of Solid Rocket Insulation (추진제 형상과 연소관 단열재 불균일 삭마의 관계)

  • In order to relieve the burden of the rear ablative material, the combustion test of the solid rocket motor with the forward deployed multi-pin grain design was successfully performed twice. However, after disassembling the solid rocket motor, a non-uniform ablation pattern was found in the rear ablative material. Periodic repetition of local and regional ablation was measured precisely. Two-dimensional flow and eddy flow, created by the uneven main-pin flow hitting the rear ablative material, were identified as the cause of non-uniform ablation. In addition. when the rear pins were removed, the possibility of securing the soundness of the rear ablative material was confirmed as the average flow velocity and the standard deviation were lowered.

  • This paper treats the aerodynamic optimization of the blade planform for helicopters. The blade shapes, which should be determined during the threedimensional aerodynamic configuration design step, are defined and are parameterized using the B$\acute{e}$zier curves. This research focuses on the design approaches generally adopted by industries and or research institutes using their own experiences and know-hows for the parameterization and for the definition of design constraints. The hover figure of merit and the equivalent lift-to-drag ratio for the forward flight are used to define the objective function. The resultant nonlinear programming (NLP) problem is solved using the sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method. The applications show the present method can design the important planform shapes such as the airfoil distribution, twist and chord variations in the efficient manner.

  • A 10kw wind turbine blade aerodynamic design was carried out using the self-developed program AeroDA. The concept, basic shape, and optimization were designed and verified. A performance analysis was carried out and the key factors in each design stage are summarized. In addition, a guide for the placement of cross-section airfoils constituting the blades is presented, and the importance of the stall margin test as a method of verifying aerodynamic design is summarized. In order to verify the design program AeroDA, we compared the results of the performance analysis with a specialized program DNVGL_Bladed.

  • A shield connector is an automotive electrical component that is used to connect electrical wiring in a vehicle. This part is made by progressive pressing using a phosphor bronze material with high electrical conductivity. The shape of the product is not complicated, but plastic forming techniques are required, such as deep drawing and bending, as well as shearing techniques such as piercing and notching. The finite element method was used to model the process. The strip layout design stage of the progressive die makes it possible to examine the thickness change, the stability of the forming process, and the spring-back. As a result of this analysis, it is possible to predict the correction values for the tendency of cracks, wrinkles, and incomplete plastic deformation, and to identify possible problems in advance. As a countermeasure against the forming error caused by the drawing process analysis, the drawing shape was modified and applied in the process design. For effective material utilization, a 3D strip layout was designed using an optimized blank shape based on nesting. The results improve the crack stability and spring-back of shield connector products produced through progressive pressing.

Estimation of Ultimate Bearing Capacity for Randomly Installed Granular Compaction Pile Group (임의의 배치형태로 설치된 무리형태의 조립토 다짐말뚝에 대한 극한지지력의 평가)

  • Granular compaction piles increase the load bearing capacity of the soft ground and reduce the settlement of fecundation built on the reinforced soil. Also the granular compaction piles accelerate the consolidation of soft ground using the granular materials such as sand, gravel, stone etc. However, this method is one of unuseful methods in Korea. In the present study, the estimation procedure for the ultimate bearing capacity of randomly installed granular compaction pile group is proposed. Also, carbon rod tests have been peformed for verifying the group effect of granular compaction piles and the behavior characteristics such as bulging failure zone on granular compaction piles. From the test results, it is found that bulging failure shape of granular compaction piles was conical shape and the ultimate bearing capacity increased as the spacing of piles became gradually narrow. Also, from the proposed method in this study, the optimal locations of granular compaction piles with various installed cases are analyzed. The results were shown that the bearing capacity was increased in the case concentrated on the central part of pile group.

A Study on the Optimum Cross-section and Tendon Profiles of 60 m span Half-Decked PSC Girder Bridge (Half-Deck을 포함한 60 m 경간 PSC 거더의 단면 및 텐던 프로파일 최적화 연구)

  • This study focused on development of 60 m span PSC girder considering not only structural performance, but also economical efficiency and constructability including from the improvement of cross-section to the tendon profiles in sequence. Bulb-T type cross section was derived from optimization and actual possibilities to design a bridge were assessed through cross section evaluation. Tendons were also arranged efficiently so that the girder could resist the service load effectively. After developed girder was applied to a sample bridge, result of finite element analysis proved all load steps were satisfied with the allowable stress. Furthermore, it seemed that sufficient redundancy will be available to design a bridge safely. Based on these, a full-scale 60 m span girder was fabricated and 4 point bending test was performed. An initial crack occurred over twice of the service load in this experiment, which establishes adequate structural performance. 60 m span Half-Decked PSC girder developed in this study has a lower height for the given span which resulted from cross section improvement and efficient tendon layout. This girder also has not only the structural advantage, but also advantages in economical efficiency and constructability.

  • 본 논문은 2D도면을 제작하는 모듈과 기본커널 기능을 이용한 2D판재 네스팅 기능을 구현한 시스템을 활용하여 2D도면으로 만들어진 부품의 형상을 구매된 원자재에 자동/수동으로 배치하면서 자재의 손실을 최소화 할 수 있으며, 절단 경로, DNC, 각종 자재 및 생산정보를 산출할 수 있는 모듈을 개발하여 구현한다. 이 시스템의 기대효과로는 좀 더 편하고 좀 더 정확하게 다양한 원자재를 생산할 수 있도록 하는 것과 오차가 크게 발생했을 시 재작업을 하는 경우를 방지하고, 보다 효율 높은 알고리즘을 응용 개발함으로써 또 다른 분야로 활용성을 높이기 위한 것이다.

  • Fisher-Tropsch 반응을 통하여 생성되는 왁스는 황 또는 질소 성분을 포함하지 않으며 또한 방향족 및 중금속 성분이 없기 때문에 청정 수송유로써 사용이 가능하다는 장점이 있다. 그러나 Fisher-Tropsch 왁스는 그 분자량이 매우 큰 사슬형 탄화수소이기 때문에 수소첨가 분해반응을 통하여 중질유 range의 탄소수를 갖는 탄화수소로의 전환 기술이 반드시 필요하다. 이러한 수소첨가 분해반응에 사용되는 촉매는 강한 산점을 지니고 있는 양이온 교환 지르코니아가 대표적이라 할 수 있는데 최근 들어 강한 산점과 높은 산밀도, 그리고 기공의 모양과 크기에 따라 특정 반응이 제어되거나 활성화되는 형상선택성을 가지고 있기 때문에 다양한 반응에 촉매로 사용되는 제올라이트에 Pt 등의 귀금속을 담지한 촉매를 사용하여 Fisher-Tropsch 왁스의 전환율 및 중질유분의 선택도를 높이는 기술에 대한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 다양한 제올라이트 촉매에 귀금속을 담지하여 촉매를 제조하고 1L 급 고압 배치형 반응기를 이용하여 Fisher-Tropsch 왁스의 수소첨가 분해반응에 의한 중질유 제조 실험을 수행하고 그 결과를 고찰하였다.

  • Geometry PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge)는 배관 내에 삽입되어 내부를 흐르는 매체에 의해서 추진되는 장치로서 배관의 기하학적 형상을 파악하기 위해 사용된다. Geometry PIG는 여러 종류의 센서를 지니고 배관 내부를 주행 하면서 탑재된 저장장치에 빠른 샘플링 속도로 데이터를 저장하기 때문에 획득된 많은 양의 데이터를 분석하기 위한 가시화 기법이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 데이터의 특성을 고려하여 다양한 가시화 기법들의 스키마를 정의하고, 이러한 가시화 기법들을 이용해 geometry PIG 데이터 분석을 위한 통합된 가시화 기법을 제안한다. 통합된 가시화 기법은 각 가시화 기법들을 사용자가 원하는 형태로 배치하며 사용자가 원하는 시점에서 데이터를 파악할 수 있도록 가시화 기법에 따른 동기화와 사용자 인터페이스를 지원한다.
