Effect of Recirculated Exhaust Gas on Exhaust Emissions of Boiler with FGR System (FGR 시스템 보일러의 배기 배출물에 미치는 재순환 배기의 영향)

  • The effect of recirculated exhaust gas on exhaust emissions under four kinds of nozzle tip with the different fuel consumption rate are experimentally investigated by using an once-through boiler with FGR system. The purpose of this study is to develop the FGR control system for reducing NOx in a boiler. Intake and exhaust oxygen concentrations, and equivalence ratio are applied to discuss the effect of FGR rate on exhaust emissions at various fuel consumption rates. It is found that NOx emissions are decreased, while soot emissions are increased owing to the drop of intake and exhaust oxygen concentrations, and the rise of equivalence ratio as FGR rates are elevated.

Biochemical Responses in Olive Flounder, Paralichthys olivaceus Fed Diet Supplemented with Fermented Aquaculture Sewage (양식장 배출물 발효물의 사료첨가에 따른 넙치, Paralichthys olivaceus의 생화학적 반응)

  • Effluent of aquaculture industry has caused a growing concern regarding its environmental impact. We assessed the use of flounder farming sewage as supplement of diet, to minimize the impact of aquaculture on the environment or also establish the technique for the recycling of effluent sediment derived from land-based seawater fish farm. In order to investigate the effects of a fermented aquaculture waste on biochemical responses of olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus), fermented products of aquaculture wastes were used as test compounds that cause hepatic and renal stress through the induction of oxidative stress in liver and kidney. Hepatosomatic index (HSI), glutathione content and glutathione dependent enzyme were not significantly different and no correlation was found within the different types of fermentation condition or supplement concentration, except for significant increases in 50% fermentation group and 50% concentration group in case of glutathione peroxidase activity and HSI value, respectively. These results showed addition of fermented aquaculture sewage may be an economic artificial sources of diet for fish aquaculture practices without affecting the function and safety in view of biochemical examination.

An Experimental Study on the characteristic of Exhaust Emissions and the Engine Performacne with Intake Port Water Injection in Diesel Engine (흡기 포트 내 물 분사에 의한 디젤 기관의 배기 유해물 배출 및 기관 성능 변화에 관한 실험적연구)

  • This study was carried out to reduce NOx emissions from diesel engine and to investigate the variation of engine performance using the water injection. In this study the water was extracted from the exhaust gas and injected directly into the intake port with the inlet charge. The water condensing system operated as a closed system without any supplementary water supply. The experimental parameters such as the revolution the torque and the water injection rate are varied and the result from this experiment found the significant NOx reduction whereas the smoke emission increases as water/air ratio increases as the cases like the EGR. In spite of increasing the quantity of the water injection the engine output was slightly decreased and the specific fuel consumption was increased as was anticipated. Especially the system was founded to be effective on the reduction of the NOx emissions at the high load region relatively.

  • This paper describes the effect of canola biodiesel blended fuel on the combustion and emission characteristics in a four cylinder CRDI(Common-rail direct injection) diesel engine. In this study, using the biodiesel fuel(20%,40% of biodiesel-canola oil and 80%, 60% of ULSD(ultra low sulfur diesel) by volume ratio with change of engine speed and injection pressure. The experiment results of increasing biodiesel ratio fuel show that NOx emissions increased. However, soot emission were reduced BC fuels compared to ULSD. Soot emissions largely increased at low injection pressure.

  • The use of emulsified fuel and EGR (Exhaust gas recirculation) system are effective methods to reduce NOx emission from diesel engines. In general, it is considered that EGR method influences diesel engine combustion in three different ways: thermal, chemical and dilution effect. Among others, the thermal effect is related to the increase of specific heat capacity due to the presence of $CO_2$ and $H_2O$ in inlet air. Meanwhile, emulsified fuel method of utilizing latent heat of vaporization and miro-explosion has been recognized as an effective technique for reducing diesel engine emissions. In this paper, an author studied on combustion and emission characteristics by using emulsified fuel (EF, Light oil : 80% + Water : 20%) and EGR (30% EGR ratio) system. And the effect of fuel injection pattern control was investigated.

Difference in Macrobenthic Community Structures at Thermal Effluent Discharge Areas of Two Nuclear Power Plants in Korea (원자력발전소의 온배수 배출해역에서 대형 저서동물 군집구조의 차이)

  • This study investigated and compared sediment properties and macrobenthic community structures within heated effluent plumes at the discharge areas of Kori Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) and Sinkori Nuclear Power Plant (SNPP) in Korea, which have different thermal effluent discharge systems. There were significant differences in sand, clay and organic carbon contents between sediments at the two discharge areas. Species richness and abundance of macrobenthos were higher at the SNPP discharge area than at that of the KNPP, although the values at both areas were comparable to previous studies in coastal areas of eastern Korea.

  • Most construction methods for the repair and reinforcement of old reinforced concrete harbor structures involve a process of applying a fiber complex or fiber complex panel just like wallpaper to the bottom of structures, such as slabs or beams. On the other hand, these techniques result in the sealing of repaired and reinforced portions of the structures by the fiber products, preventing moisture, such as rainwater entering the structures through the upper surfaces of the slabs or beams from being released, and causing the entire concrete covering of the structures to be peeled off in the long run. To prevent this, it is necessary to develop a technique to protect the basic salt from the sea water from penetrating into the structures while expelling the water absorbed in the structures swiftly. This study attempted to solve the problem by modifying the anchor bolts currently used to repair and reinforce the port structure. That is, by drilling holes into the body of anchor bolts and modifying the caps of the bolts to produce a structure that would let the water flow like a toilet trap, the moisture inside of the structure could be drained through the holes in the anchor bolts. The water discharge anchor bolts developed were tested and observed for 6 months; the water was discharged in 73% of the anchors (200 anchor installation, 145 anchors).

  • 수자원 이용량 중 농업용수 이용량은 약 47 %를 차지하고 있고 전체 논 대비 저수지 관개논 비중은 45 %에 달하고 있어 저수지 관개논의 비점오염배출에 대한 정량적인 평가 및 관리가 요구된다. 논에서의 비점오염배출량은 강우뿐만 아니라 시비 및 물관리 등 영농인자에 의해 영향을 받기 때문에 시기별 지속적인 모니터링이 필요하다. 본 연구의 목적은 저수지 관개논을 대상으로 비점오염 유출입 기작을 종합적으로 모니터링하고, 이를 바탕으로 저수지 관개논에서의 물수지 및 물질수지를 산정하고, 그 결과를 분석/평가하는 데 있다. 본 연구의 대상지구는 이동저수지 하류에 위치한 관개논을 선정하였고, 수문/수질 계측망을 구성하여 모니터링을 수행하였다. 물수지 분석을 위해 강우량, 담수심, 침투량, 관개량, 지표유출량 등을 관측하였고, 증발산량은 Penmann-Monteith 식으로 산정하였다. 물질수지 분석을 위해 시비량, 시비시기, 관개수 및 유출수 수질 등을 조사하였고 토양 및 식물체 성분을 분석하였다. 관개논에서의 지표유출량은 1232.1 mm, 침투량은 111.5 mm, 증발산량은 598.9 mm으로 나타났고, 질소 기준 배출부하량은 28.76 kg/ha, 식물흡수는 120.37 kg/ha의 값을 보였다. 본 연구결과는 관개논에서의 비점오염 주요 관리인자의 상호관련성 및 배출기작을 구명하고, 비점오염배출량 저감을 위한 영농방법개선 방안 수립에 기초자료가 될 것으로 기대된다.

Farm Engine Characteristics of Biodiesel using Mixed Waste Vegetable Oil (폐식물성혼합유지 바이오디젤의 농용기관특성 평가)

  • 화석연료의 고갈과 환경오염이 문제시 되면서 친환경 에너지개발에 대한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 그중 바이오디젤은 동,식물성유지 및 폐식용유를 이용하여 생산이 가능할뿐더러 농용엔진에 특별한 개조 없이 사용가능하다. 또한 바이오디젤 자체에 산소를 함유하고 있어 이산화탄소 저감에 효율적이다. 바이오 디젤에 관한 많은 연구가 수행되었으며, 기존의 연구는 단일유지의 폐식용유를 사용하여 바이오디젤을 생산하는 연구가 진행되었다. 하지만 가정에서 배출되는 식물성 폐식용유의 경우 여러 가지가 혼합되어 배출되고 있어, 혼합폐식용유지의 바이오디젤 특성평가가 필요하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 폐식물성유지(폐대두유, 폐카놀라유, 폐해바라기유)를 중량비(1:4, 1:1.5 1:0.66, 1:0.25)로 혼합하여 바이오디젤을 생산하고, 생산한 바이오디젤을 농용기관에 이용하여 농용기관의 출력특성 및 배기배출물특성 평가를 실시하였다. 실험에 사용된 농용기관은 배기량이 673cc인 직접분사식 디젤기관(ND10DE, Daedong, Korea)이며, 엔진성능평가를 위해 토크는 토크센서(YDL-704s, Setech, Korea)를 사용하였다. 배기배출물 평가는 배기가스분석기(HG-550, Airlex, Germany)를 이용하여 이산화탄소, 질소산화물을의 배출량을 측정하였다. 폐식용유를 이용하여 생산한 바이오디젤과 경유의 기관성능을 비교한 결과 토크와 축출력의 경우 BD의 혼합량이 증가할수록 줄어들었다. 토크는 혼합된 유지에 따라 상용운전범위인 1500rpm~2400rpm에서 평균 대두와 카놀라유를 혼합하여 생산한 BD10은 7.2%, BD20은 12.1% 감소하였고, 대두와 해바라기유를 혼합하여 생산한 BD10은 11.3% BD20은 16.3% 감소하였다. 또한 해바라기와 카놀라유를 혼합하여 생산한 BD10은 8.3%, BD20은 14.6% 감소하였다. 이는 BD의 발열량이 경유에 비해 낮아 토크가 감소한 것으로 판단된다. 또한 배기배출물 평가의 경우 질소산화물은 BD의 함랑이 증가함에 따라 경유에 비해 배출량이 증가하는 경향을 보였고, 이산화탄소는 저감되는 것으로 나타났다. 이는 바이오디젤이 함산소연료이므로, 연료내의 산소로 인해 완전연소를 촉진시켜 이산화탄소를 저감시키고 질소산화물은 증가된 것으로 판단된다.
