In this paper, we are proposing an efficient 3D source localization algorithm using 3 uniform linear subarrays. The proposed algorithm replaces 3D search required in conventional 3D MUSIC algorithm with 3 1D searches, and thus reduces computational burden. The estimate of the 1D conic angle obtained from a subarray under the far-field assumption satisfies a nonlinear algebraic equation of the true source bearing angle, elevation angle, and range. The proposed algorithm estimates source location by solving 3 algebraic equations obtained from 3 subarrays. Comparing 3D MUSIC spectrums of the estimated source locations, the proposed algorithm solves pairing problem for multiple sources localization.

We propose the mirror active element pattern (AEP) method for the radiation pattern computation of linear array antennas versus scan angles. The computation time for the radiation pattern of linear array antennas using the mirror AEP method is reduced by almost half compared to that using the AEP method because the number of AEPs of elements obtained by the full-wave simulation necessary for the radiation pattern computation of linear array antennas is reduced by almost half. The difference between the radiation patterns of linear array antennas obtained by the full-wave simulation and mirror AEP method is very small for wide scan angle range when the radiation pattern of an antenna element is symmetric.
In this paper, we proposed a new W-band monopulse tracking system based on reflectarray antenna structure. The proposed reflectarray antenna monopulse tracking system consists of four feed horn antennas and a planar reflector using a microstrip reflectarray. The four feed horn antennas have a gain of 10 dBi and a half-power beam-width of 56 degrees symmetrically in the E/H plane. It was confirmed that the reflectarray antenna using one feed horn antenna has a size of 41.8 × 41.8 mm2, a gain of 26.8 dBi, and a half-power beam-width of about 5.6 degrees. The reflectarray monopulse tracking system using 4 feeding horn antennas is well matched from 75 GHz to 90 GHz, and the isolation is secured by more than 10 dB. Finally, the proposed system shows the tracking range of 5.98 degrees and the tracking error range was 0.02 degrees.
In this paper, rail vibration and its sound radiation are investigated, then the rail noise measurement by using microphone array is explored theoretically. A concrete slab track for domestic high speed trains is modeled as a Timoshenko beam on elastic support, regarding the moving of the excitation force on the rail. From the radiation characteristics of rail noise generated by a line source, the effect of moving load on sound radiation is obtained. Also it is found that the beam angle of the microphone array is a prominent factor to measure the rail noise level reliably because the rail noise propagates as a plane wave. In this investigation, a proper beam angle for the rail noise measurement by microphone array is suggested.

Notch Antenna is a travelling wave type antenna and can provide multioctave operation in phased arrays that scan over wide angle. In this paper, we designed a wideband E-plane phased array antenna using E-plane waveguide simulator which has a bandwidth of 3 : 1 and a scan volume of $\pm$45$^{\circ}$ in E-plane. We compared impedance of single antenna and infinite array antenna using equivalent circuit modeling. We analyzed full structure of 1$\times$9 phased array antenna and we evaluated active reflection coefficient with variation of beam scan angle through mutual coupling coefficient acquired from simulation and investigated the variation of antenna gain with variation of active element pattern as beam scan angle is varied.

For driver's convenience, the ACC(Adaptive Cruise Control) requires a system which determines the direction of vehicles and controls the vehicle to keep the distance among the automobiles constant. This paper describes the microstrip array antennas designed to operate at 24 GHz, and used as a direction indicator of moving vehicles. 8${\times}$2 transmit array antenna with wide beamwidth, 8${\times}$4 receive center array antenna, and two 8${\times}$8 receive array antennas with narrow beamwidth were designed and fabricated. Measurement results for the arrays showed that the azimuthal beamwidth is 50$^{\circ}$and the gain is 16.7 dBi for the transmit array antenna. For the receive array antenna, the center, the left, and the right array antenna have beamwidths of 20$^{\circ}$, 13$^{\circ}$, 13$^{\circ}$respectively, and have gains of more than 20 dBi. The left and right array antenna have the beam tilt angle of ${\pm}$18$^{\circ}$. The measured radiation patterns showed a good agreement with the simulated patterns, and the designed array antennas are suitable fur detecting 3 directions of the vehicle within the scan angle area.

Frequency-modulated continuous wave(FMCW) radars with array antennas are widely used because of their light weight and relatively high resolution. A usual approach for the joint range and angle estimation of a target using an array FMCW radar is to create a range-angle matrix with the deramped received signal, and subsequently apply two-dimensional(2D) frequency estimation methods such as 2D fast Fourier transform on the range-angle matrix. However, such frequency estimation approaches cause bias errors since the frequencies in the range-angle matrix are not independent. Therefore, we propose a new maximum likelihood-based algorithm for joint range and angle estimation of targets using array FMCW radar, and demonstrate that the proposed algorithm achieves the Cram?r-Rao bounds, both for range as well as angle estimation.

This paper describes the pattern synthesis method of two kinds of conformal array antenna using the Enhanced Adaptive Genetic Algorithm (EAGA). One is the $1{\times}16$ conformal array antenna on a curved cylindrical metallic surface with quadratic function, and the other is the 18-element conformal arrary antenna on a metallic surface obtained by the rotation of a quadratic function curve around the axis. The active element pattern is utilized in the pattern synthesis. Especially for the case of the rotated-type conformal array antenna the transformed active element pattern obtained from the Euler's angle rotation of the active element pattern of the planar concentric array is utilized, which reduces the synthesis time a lot. To verify the validity of the proposed synthesis method the MATLAB results are compared with the MWS results. Furthermore, for the case of $1{\times}16$ conformal array antenna the measured results are compared with the MATLAB synthesized results.

In this paper, the correction method of antenna beam direction errors is introduced which caused by frequency scan effect in active Phased may antenna for satellite communications. The antenna makes the beam directional error from frequency scan effect when it has dual beam may structure with asymmetrical series connection, their frequencies are different and for from each other, their 3dB beamwidth is narrow, and scan range is wide. By proposed equations, estimated beam direction error angles can be calculated and active phase shifter control values also can be calculated to compensate them. In this paper, the active phased array antenna system was fabricated to measure beam direction errors both before and after correction, which has dual beam from 32${\times}$4 main level array and 4${\times}$2 second level array, frequency deviation 500 MHz max.(6.7 %) at 7.25 GHz∼7.75 GHz ranges, 0$^{\circ}$∼${\pm}$35$^{\circ}$nm ranges, and 35.6 dBi gain with 2.2$^{\circ}$3 dB beam width. Its beam direction error by frequency san effect which was 2.5$^{\circ}$max., was reduced to 0.2$^{\circ}$max. after correction. This was 7 dB improvement of signal loss. The active phased array antenna can accurately track the target satellite for communications by this proposed correction method.
In preclinical positron emisson tomography(PET), spatial resolution degradation occurs outside the field of view(FOV). To solve this problem, a depth of interaction(DOI) detector was developed that measures the position where gamma rays and the scintillator interact. There are a method in which a scintillation pixel array is composed of multiple layers, a method in which photosensors are arranged at both ends of a single layer, a method in which a scintillation pixel array is constituted in several layers and a photosensor is arranged in each layer. In this study, a new type of DOI detector was designed by analyzing the characteristics of the previously developed detectors. In the two-layer detector, different sizes of scintillation pixels were used for each layer, and the array size was configured differently. When configured in this form, the positions of the scintillation pixels for each layer are arranged to be shifted from each other, so that they are imaged at different positions in a flood image. DETECT2000 simulation was performed to confirm the possibility of measuring the depth of interaction of the designed detector. A flood image was reconstructed from a light signal acquired by a gamma-ray event generated at the center of each scintillation pixel. As a result, it was confirmed that all scintillation pixels for each layer were separated from the reconstructed flood image and imaged to measure the interaction depth. When this detector is applied to preclinical PET, it is considered that excellent images can be obtained by improving spatial resolution.
