Egress Safety of Nursing Hospital Considering Egress Guides and Smoke Exhaust System (피난유도자 수와 배연설비를 고려한 요양병원의 피난안전성 평가)

  • In this study, fire and egress simulation was conducted for the egress safety evaluation of the nursing hospitals. A fire simulation was performed with or without the smoke exhaust system using the FDS, and the available safe egress time (ASET) of the nursing hospitals was calculated. In addition, an egress simulation considering the characteristics of occupants and egress delay time was performed using Pathfinder, and the required safe egress time (RSET) was calculated. By comparing the ASET and RSET, the egress safety of the nursing hospital with or without a smoke exhaust system was evaluated according to the number of egress guides and the egress delay time. The simulation results show that the number of casualties increased as the egress delay time increased, and the required safe egress time decreased as the number of egress guides increased. In addition, it was found that if a smoke exhaust system with the capacity specified in the KFPA is secured, the available safe egress time can be greatly increased and the number of casualties can be greatly reduced.

A Study on the Effectiveness to the Life Safety by Enlarging Smoke Vent Size and/or Sprinklered System (배연창 크기와 스프링클러 작동이 인명안전에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • Recently, evacuation safety of a resident of building become the major concern, because building has been higher and more complicated. Buildings in Korea should install the natural smoke venting or mechanical smoke exhaust equipment according to the building law. The smoke control is the most important to guarantee the evacuation safety. This study evaluate the influence to the height and temperature of smoke layer by enlarging smoke vent size and operating sprinkler system using CFAST (Version 6). Smoke venting size is larger, the effect to height and temperature of smoke layer is increased in below 5 MW fire. But, the correlation of these is decreased in above 10 MW fire. The case that opened smoke vent and sprinklered are applied, life safety criteria are satisfied regardless of fire size. After design the fire scenario according to the service and size of building. Install the smoke vent suitable for the fire size and verify that by experiment or simulation.

  • 최근 인구 증대 및 도시 집중화에 따른 지상공간 부족의 대안 및 택지 이용도 효율 방안으로 지하공간 개발의 필요성이 증대되고 있다 특히 날로 증대되고 있는 지하공간에서의 문제점으로 설계 및 용도에 적합한 환기 시스템의 도입 및 운영의 미흡으로 공기질 악화 현상과 국민 보건상의 문제로 노출되고 있는 실정이다. 환기시스템은 일상적 공간환기는 물론 화재시의 배연기능을 포함한다. 따라서, 정상적인 작동(일반 환기)과는 별도로 비정상 환경(화재시의 배연)에서의 중요성이 인식되고 있다. 따라서, 시스템 설계 오류는 화재발생시 중대한 인명피해로 연결됨으로서 그 중요성은 아무리 강조하여도 지나침이 없다 이미 미국, 일본, 노르웨이 등의 선진 외국에서는 지하공간의 최적환경 개선은 국민 삶의 질 향상이라는 관점 하에 꾸준히 진행되어오고 있다. $^{(1~3)}$ 우리나라에서도 서울1기 지하철을 시작으로 교통난의 해소를 위하여 2005년까지 총연장 60km에 이를 것으로 전망됨에 따라 지하공간의 공기질 개선 및 화재시의 배연설비의 최적화가 요구된다.(중략)

A Numerical Study for the Operation of Partial Smoke Extraction System in Tunnel Fire (터널화재시 부분배연설비의 운영방안을 위한 수치해석적 연구)

  • The objective of this study is to analyze the smoke extraction efficiency using by the partial extraction system with CFD simulation for case of tunnel fire. The Comparison of CFD results with the preceding scaled model test results, it is equal to the smoke extraction efficiency and smoke stratification in tunnel by the partial smoke extraction system (distributed damper). It shows that the smoke extraction efficiency is increased about 7% by the distributed damper which is opened near fire, compare with the distributed damper which is all opened. The case of the fire occurs on a traffic jam in a tunnel, it is proposed that the operating method of partial smoke extraction system for the escaping passengers.
