A Comparative Study on Muscle Activity of Voita's Brust Zone Stimulation in Normal Adults and Kids (정상성인과 아동의 보이타의 가슴유발점 자극 시의 근활성도 비교)

  • This research was conducted for the normal adults and kids to know the abdominal muscle activities by stimulating Vojta's brust zone. It was conducted for 10 adults who were average 21.5 years old and 10 kids who were 12.1 years old and did it once. We used EMG to know the abdorminal muscle activities and we chose the research method 'independent t test'. Only two adults and kids among subjects have reactions and the others have no reactions. This research reveals that hypothesis, Vojta's brust zone stimulates abdominal activities, didn't coincide completely but we will have more exact results by researching other subjects and choosing proficient method several months, not once.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to evaluate effects of shoulder girdle stability exercise on upper extremity muscle strength. Methods : Subjects were consist of 20 people who had no disorder of upper extremity from 20 to 27 years of age during 6 weeks from April 3, 2006 to May 14. Ten of all subjects exercised muscles which stabilize to shoulder girdle for 30 minutes during 6 weeks. Biodex was used to measure upper extremity muscle strength. Results : There are increasing of shoulder flexion and extension on average torque but no statistically significant difference between pre-exercise and post-exercise. Conclusion : There are no severe difference between exercise group and non-exercise group on muscle strength.

  • 최근 고령화 사회가 심각한 사회적 문제로 급부상하고 있으며, 이에 병원을 찾아 입원하는 비중이 이전에 비하여 높아지고 있다. 거동이 불편하거나 근력이 부족한 환자의 경우 스스로 거동할 능력이 다소 떨어지며, 낙상사고가 발생하면 부상 혹은 치명적일 경우 사망으로 이어질 수 있다. 하지만, 이들을 보살피는 간호 인력만으로 병원 내 모든 낙상사고를 파악하기에는 한계가 있다. 또한, 환자들의 낙상 탐지에 관한 연구는 지속해서 수행되어왔지만, 병원 내부환경에서의 낙상 탐지 연구는 부족하다. 이에 본 논문에서는 병원 내부환경에서 낙상을 탐지하기 위해 실제 병실에서 수집한 데이터로 YOLOv5 모델을 학습하여 환자 낙상 탐지모델을 구축 및 평가하였다.

  • Standing up from a supine and prone position is very important for physical independence. All kinds of patients have a bed rest or lying on floor without special care. Even though the patient had complete from illness. He must train the functional activities before discharge. There are many method for the functional activity training. Likewise, sing of reflex, voluntary movement for muscle strength increasing, but clinically ideal method is approaching with motor developmental stage. Supine and prone progression of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation have a ideal reason. That is reflex integratation, development of muscle tone, develop of motor control, dynamic and static, motor behavior and cognition.

Effect on Improvement of Muscle Strength Imbalance according to Load Deviation Pattern of Left and Right Arms in Upper Limbs (상지 좌우 운동부하 편차방식이 근력 불균형 개선에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to verify the validation of effect on improvement of muscle strength unbalance according to exercise load deviation during rowing exercise. We performed evaluation of muscular activity and joint torque before the test. We recruited twenty subjects who one side's muscle strength is bigger in more 20% than other side. Subjects divided two groups. One is dominant left side and the other was dominant right side. Subjects performed rowing exercise in electric load deviation rowing equipment (Robo.gym, Humonic Co., Ltd., Daegu, Korea). Exercise performed four sets a day including 25 times a set, and three days a week. Measurements consist of evaluation of muscular activity and joint torque. Exercise load deviation adapted that different value of muscle strength in both arms multiplied 1RM% and added 1RM 50%. The results in adapted load deviation showed that the differences of maximal peak torque in 22.75% were getting increase significantly during exercise in 5.72%. This interpreted that rowing exercise with loading deviation types could provide muscle strength and muscular endurance exercise in same time for balance. Our study found out that loading deviation could provide muscle strength and muscular endurance exercise for improving muscle unbalance.

The Effect of Health Promotion Program on the Frailty of Rural Elderly Women Implemented at Primary Health Care Posts (일부 보건진료소에서 실시한 건강증진프로그램이 농촌여성노인의 노쇠에 미치는 효과)

  • Objective: This study was conducted to examine the effects of a health promotion program on the health condition of rural elderly women implemented at primary health care posts using Korean Frailty Index. Methods: The research was designed a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest setting. The participants in this study were 50 residents (intervention group: 25, control group: 25) selected from 4 villages 2 primary health care posts in J city Gyeongsangnam-do. The health promotion program was conducted at the primary health care posts twice a week for 12 weeks. This program consisted of basic exercises(Gukseondo + Theraband muscle strength training) and additional activities(including modified Theraband activity, rubber ball exercise, ball massage, nutrition class, singing class). Collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, paired t-test, and repeated measures ANOVA with SPSS 21.0. Results: Results of the health promotion program showed that the health conditions(measured by perceived health status, frailty score, upper/lower flexibility, maximum grip strength, dynamic balance test Timed Up and Go) of the experimental group(25) all statistical significantly improved. Conclusion: Study findings indicate that the health promotion program implemented at primary health care posts on rural elderly women is effective and can contribute to a developed health promotion program for local residents in the future.

A Study on the Effect of Golf Driver Head Speed and Back Muscular Strength in TBA-G of FCST (FCST 원리를 적용한 TBA-G의 골프 드라이버 헤드 속도와 배근력 영향에 대한 연구)

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of Temporomandibular joint Balance Appliance for Golf (TBA-G) of Functional Cerebrospinal Therapy (FCST) on golf driver head speed and back muscle power. Methods: Twenty-one participants that had a golf career of 4 years or more were involved. We measured golf drive head speed and back muscular strength before and after applying TBA-G in the mouth. A paired t test or Wilcoxon singed rank test was performed to identify the difference of effect between before and after applying TBA-G, using IBM SPSS 19.0. We considered difference significant at P<0.05. Results: Driver head speed increased significantly by 2 mph (1.99%) after applying TBA-G [from $100.52{\pm}9.82$ mph ($mean{\pm}SD$) to $102.52{\pm}10.43$ mph, P<0.001]. Back muscular strength also increased by 7.28 kg (5.60%) [from $129.90{\pm}28.31$ kg to $137.18{\pm}28.81$ kg, P<0.001]. In stratification analysis, a more significant increase was found in the drive head speed and back muscular strength of groups of males with weight more than 69kg, with height more than 175cm, and with golf experience more than 7 years, compared to those of other groups. Conclusions: The results suggest that TBA-G could improve golf drive head speed and back muscular strength.

The Effects of Low-Frequency Electrical Stimulation on Abdominal Core Muscle Activity and Thickness (저주파 전기자극이 복부 중심근육 활성도 및 두께에 미치는 영향)

  • Core muscle is the most crucial for rehabilitation of patients with musculoskeletal and nervous problem, there is pain, imbalance and functional movement disorder of upper and lower extremities. In this study, low-frequency electrical stimulator was developed for the purpose increasing the activity of rectus abdominis (RA) and the thickness of transverse abdominis (TrA), internal obliquus abdominis (IO), and external obliquus abdominis (EO). Fifteen female in their 20's was divided into a experiment groups (traditional electrical stimulation group, developed electrical stimulation group) and control group. Low-frequency electrical stimulation was performed in experimental groups for 4 times a week, 4 weeks. The muscle activities (RA) by EMG and muscle thickness (TrA, IO, EO) by Ultrasonogrphy imaging were measured, respectively. In the result, the muscle activity of RA and muscle thickness of TrA and EO were significantly increased at developed electrical stimulation group (p<.05). Therefore, the developed low-frequency electrical stimulation is useful for rehabilitation with CNS and PNS subjects.

The Effects of Abdominal Muscle Strengthening Exercise on Abdominal Muscle Strength and Respiratory Function in Stroke Patients (배근 강화운동이 뇌졸중 환자의 배근력 및 호흡기능에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of abdominal muscle strengthening exercise on abdominal muscle strength and respiratory function in stroke patients. Methods : The subjects were 14 stroke patients (10 males, 4 females) hospitalized at W rehabilitation hospital in Busan City and randomly assigned to 7 exercise groups and 7 control groups. Exercise was performed in combination with an upper and lower extremity pattern of proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. Measurements of abdominal muscle strength and respiratory function were made before intervention and 4 weeks after intervention. Abdominal muscle strength was assessed using a digital manual dynamometer, and respiratory function was assessed by spirometry. The collected data were analyzed with a paired t-test and independent t-test and the significance level was set as α =.05. Results : The results showed that applying abdominal muscle strengthening exercise to stroke patients showed a significant increase in abdominal muscle strength and a significant difference between groups (p<.05). Maximal-effort expiratory spirogram (MES) readings were significantly increased in forced vital capacity (FVC), and forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1), in the exercise group, and there were a significant differences between the groups in terms of FEV1 (p<.05). Slow vital capacity (SVC) was significantly increased in vital capacity (VC), tidal volume (TV), inspiratory reserve volume (IRV), and expiratory capacity (EC), and there were significant differences between the groups in VC, TV, expiratory reserve volume (ERV), EC, and inspiratory capacity (IC) (p<.05). Conclusion : Abdominal muscle strengthening exercise was effective in the abdominal muscle strength of stroke patients, and it was confirmed to have a positive effect on the enhancement of respiratory function. Therefore, it seems that exercise programs for stroke patients with respiratory weakness should include abdominal muscle strengthening exercises.

Effects of Long-term Aqua Exercise Program on Body Composition, Exercise Function and Quality of Life of the Old Women (장기간의 아쿠아 운동 프로그램이 여성노인의 신체조성, 운동기능 및 삶의 질에 미치는 영향)

  • This study selected 31 old women over 65 years old residing in G county, Jeonnam and applied the aqua exercise program to them for 1 hour a session, once a week for 1 year from Feb. 1, 2011 to Jan. 31, 2012 in order to examine the effects of the program on body composition, exercise function, quality of life and self-esteem in the elderly. As a result of measuring health related factors before and after applying the exercise program, it was found that long-term aqua exercise program had statistically significant change and increase in body composition (weight, body fat mass and percent body fat), exercise function (flexibility, balance, TUG, back muscle strength), quality of life and self-esteem. Therefore, it is considered that continuous aqua exercise program is needed to improve body composition, exercise function, quality of life and self-esteem of the old women in rural areas.
