CFD Modeling of Unsteady Gas-Liquid Flow in a Small Scale Air-Lift Pump (소형 공기 양수 펌프의 불규칙한 가스-액체 흐름의 CFD 모델링)

  • 공기 양수 펌프는 재생 에너지 분야, 부식 및 마모 특성의 유체의 활용 등 높은 신뢰성과 낮은 유지보수 비용을 필요로 하는 분야에서 그 사용이 증대되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 소형 공기 양수 펌프의 성능 평가 및 기초 데이터를 얻기 위한 연구로, D=0.012~0.019m, L=0.933m인 배관의 침수 깊이(${\beta}$=0.55,0.60,0.65,0.70)에 따른 수치해석을 수행하였다. 수치 해석 및 실험 결과는 유사성을 뛰었으며, 펌프의 사양과 효율은 공기의 질량 유속 비, 침수 깊이 비와 양수 배관의 길이에 관한 함수로 나타났다. 그리고 최대 물과 공기 질량 유속의 비는 각 배관에서 서로 다른 침수 깊이의 비로 나타났으며, 공기 양수 펌프의 최대 효율이 발생되는 운전조건은 슬러그(slug)와 슬러그 교반 정도(slug-churn flow regime)에 따라 나타남을 알 수 있었다.

A Study on Tool Wear in Drilling STS 304 Steel Pipe Material (STS 304 배관재의 드릴가공시 공구마모에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this investigation is experimentally to clarify the machinability and tool wear of STS 304 steel pipe material for piping. In order to determine the effects of cutting parameters and tool wear on thrust, torque, AE RMS, drilling is conducted on CNC milling machine. In this experiment, it is measured that thrust, torque, tool wear length, tool wear area and AE RMS during drilling using Hss tool. It has been found that a) During the drilling, the thrust and the torque of the STS 304 pipe are received more the effect of the feed than the spindle speed and the thrust increase with the increase of feed, b) The value of the AE RMS is been larger the effect of the cutting speed than the feed rate, and the value of the AE RMS increase with the increase of spindle speed, c) It has been found that the suitable feed in feed condition of 0.03, 0.05, 0.1, 0.15mm/rev is below 0.05mm/rev, d) The value of the AE RMS was shown a characteristic of the jump value during it was a sudden inrcrease of the tool wear. The increased character of the AE RMS value can be known an effective factor of the tool wear detection, and e) It can be quantitatively evaluated the condition of the tool according to calculate a area of the drill wear image which is obtained by a vision system.

Assessment on Aging Management of Delayed Neutron Monitoring System Tubing for Continued Operation of Wolsong Unit 1 (월성1호기 계속운전 관련 결함연료위치탐지계통 배관의 열화관리평가)

  • The end of design lifetime for Wolsong unit 1 will be reached on 20th November in 2012. So the license renewal documents for the continuous operation of Wolsong unit 1 is under reviewing now. Major components of primary system such as pressure tubes, feeder pipes including delayed neutron monitoring system tubing are being replaced and many components of secondary system are also being repaired. In this paper, the assessment on the wear degradation of delayed neutron monitoring system tubing(on the other hand, DN tube was called) was performed for the ageing management of the same component. The wear defects of this component was one of causes that resulted in heavy water leakage accidents. Therefore design specifications of Wolsong uint 1 and heavy water leakage accidents of pressurized heavy water reactors were reviewed and causes of wear defect for DN tubes were analyzed. Wear propagation equations based on the heavy water leakage history were made and the proper repairing time was possible to be expected if the continued operation was considered. Finally design change items of DN tubes that were conducted for the long term operation of Wolsong unit 1 are introduced.

A fundamental study on the minimize wear of slurry shield TBM sludge bend pipe (이수식 쉴드 TBM 배니곡관 마모 최소화를 위한 기초 연구)

  • Currently, due to industrial development in domestic regions, buildings are saturated not only in major city centers but also in surrounding urban areas. Accordingly, people's attention has focused on underground spaces, and tunnels are being widely used, especially in urban development. Research on tunnels and tunnel excavation methods is actively underway. However, there is a lack of research on the wear and tear problems of sludge discharge pipes when using a slurry shield TBM. Therefore, in this paper, the L-shaped bend pipe used in the existing sludge discharge pipe was transformed into a T-shaped bend pipe to move sludge. As a result, it was confirmed that compared to the L-shaped bend pipe, the impact of the T-shaped bend pipe on the bend pipe when discharging sludge was reduced. Based on these results, it is expected that wear of the sludge discharge pipe can be minimized by using a T-shaped bend pipe when using slurry shield TBM equipment. This is expected to ultimately lead to economic benefits, such as reducing costs due to replacement of curved pipes or additional welding during tunnel construction.

A Study on the Frictional Characteristics of Fiber Reinforced Composites under Corrosive Environment (부식 환경 하에서의 섬유강화복합재료의 마찰 및 마모 특성 연구)

  • The treated water inside the ballast electrolytic cell creates a highly alkaline atmosphere due to hydroxide generated at the DSA(Dimension Stable Anode) electrode during electrolysis. In this study, a composite material that can replace the weakness of the PE-coated steel pipe used in the existing ballast pipe was prepared. The test samples are BRE(Basalt fiber reinforced epoxy), BRP(Basalt fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester), GRE(Glass fiber reinforced epoxy), and GRP(Glass fiber reinforced unsaturated polyester). And then it was immersed in NaOH for 720 hours. The friction test of each specimen was conducted. The Friction coefficient analysis according to material friction depth and interfacial adhesion behavior between resin and fiber were analyzed. As a result, the mechanism of interfacial separation between resin and fiber could be analyzed. In the case of the unsaturated polyester resin with low interfacial bonding strength the longer the immersion time in the alkaline solution, the faster the internal deterioration caused by the deterioration that started from the surface, resulting in a decrease in the friction coefficient. It is hoped that this study will help to understand the degradation behavior of composite materials immersed in various chemical solutions such as NaOH, acid, and sodium hypochlorite in the future.

  • The basis of all approaches to improve reliability of marine engines exists in analyzing the field data of troubles and failures on marine engines. This paper analyses the data of troubles and failures on marine engines by Principal Component Analysis Method, one of Multivariate Data Analysis Method. The total number of data investigated is 211 and the observation period is 9 years. The analyzed factors are categorized among five groups respectively; electric.automatic control equipments, auxiliary machinery, pipings, refrigerators.air conditioners, and main engine. The failures in main engine are discovered by a definite fact of disorder, on the contrary, the failures in auxiliary machinery, refrigerators and air conditioners are discovered by sensible judgement of the operators.

Investigation of Local Flow Parameters Caused by Flow Acceleration Corrosion Downstream of an Orifice in a Piping System (배관계 오리피스 하류에서 유동가속부식으로 인한 국소 유동 파라미터에 대한 조사)

  • In this study, the performance of an impeller according to blade length and pitch angle was studied experimentally by building a variable pitch impeller while changing blade length to review the effect of blade length and pitch angle on a fan's performance. The pitch angle was changed in six steps from $20^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}$ at intervals of $5^{\circ}$ while the blade lengths were changed to 90 mm, 100 mm, 110 mm and 120 mm with an identical airfoil shape while carrying out the experiment. The results are summarized as follows : The air flow per static pressure of axial fans increased linearly with increase of pitch angle, but the high static pressure showed a decrease at a pitch angle of $35^{\circ}$. The shaft power increased proportionally to the pitch angle at all blade lengths; the larger the pitch angle, the larger the measured increase of shaft power.
