The Study on Effect of Exhaust Gas Characteristics according to Aromatic compound Content in Diesel (경유의 방향족 함량 변화가 배출가스에 미치는 영향 연구)

  • According to reports in EU and USA, Aromatic ingredient in diesel estimated the causative agent of air pollution. Because reduction of total aromatic and Poly-aromatic compound content are decreasing environmentally harmful emissions HC, NOx, PM. It is necessary to investigate correlationship between automotive technology and fuel quality in Korea. This study examines emission effect of two representative domestic vehicles(2.2 L for emission of Euro 4, 5) and five kinds of domestic diesel fuel (total aromatic compound content 26, 28, 30 wt% and poly-aromatic compound content 3, 5 wt%). Finally, Environmental impact assessment was studied between vehicle and diesel fuel.

  • 최근 연료 가격의 상승으로 자동차용 연료에 벤젠, 톨루엔 등을 혼합한 가짜휘발유가 많이 유통되고 있다. 가짜휘발유는 벤젠, 톨루엔 등의 방향족물질을 혼합하거나 경유, 등유 등을 혼합하여 사용한다. 방향족 화합물이 많이 함유된 휘발유를 장기간 사용할 경우 차량의 고무부품을 팽윤시켜 연료의 누출 등에 따른 화재 발생의 가능성이 높으며, 톨루엔은 열함량이 작기 때문에 연소효율 저하로 연비를 악화시킨다. 또한 자동차 연료의 조성은 배출가스에도 많은 영향을 주는 것으로 알려져 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 가짜휘발유 사용에 따른 배출가스 영향을 정확히 파악하기 위해 휘발유 중 방향족 함량이 다른 세종류의 연료를 사용하여 배출가스 및 연비에 대한 영향을 조사하였다.   • Separation and identification of the polycyclic aromatic compounds (PAC) from pyrolysis products of cellulose and lignin were performed using a combination of acid-base solvent partitioning and silicic acid column chromatography with fused-silica capillary column gas chromatography/ mass spectrometry. Sixteen PAC were positively identifited by retention indices and mass spectra data. Both materials produced the same kinds of PAC. But lignin produced much more PAC than cellulose. Almost no highly carcinogenic heterocyclic PAC containing nitrogen and sulfur were produced.

  • An anionic polyurethane dispersions (PUDs) were synthesized from the poly (tetramethylene glycol) (PTMG, Mw = 2000 g/mol), mixed isocyanate of dicyclohexylmethane-4,4'-diisocyanate $(H_{12}-MDI)$ and 4,4'-diphenylmethane diisocyanate (MDI), and dimethylol propionic acid (DMPA) as anionic site, following a prepolymer mixing process. Triethylamine (TEA) was used as a neutralization agent and the ethylenediamine (EDA) as the chain extender of the prepolymer. The effects of the DMPA molar ratio and aromatic diisocyanate content in the mixed isocyanate on the particle size and viscosity of PUD were studied. Also, the mechanical and thermal properties of the PUD cast films were discussed according to the molar ratio of DMPA and aromatic isocyanate content. It was found that the particle size and the viscosity of an anionic PUD decreased with increasing DMPA molar ratio but increased with increasing aromatic isocyanate (MDI) content in the mixed isocyanate at the constant DMPA content. Tensile strength of the PUD cast films increased and elongation at break decreased with increasing DMPA content at the constant mixed isocyanate molar ratios. In thermal degradation temperature of PUD cast films, the effect of DMPA contents was great but the effect of aromatic isocyanate contents at the low DMPA content was very slight respectively.

  • Rigid polyurethane foam (PUF) was synthesized with different contents of aliphatic polyester polyol, aromatic polyester polyol and aliphatic polyether polyol to know change of properties under sea water. UTM(universal testing machine), DSC(differential scanning calorimetry), hardness meter and FT-IR(Fourier transform spectroscopy) were used to study the PUF`s physical properties under sea water. Compressive strength and hardness of PUF decreased with increasing the content of aromatic polyester polyol under sea water as aging. According to the results of IR spectral analysis, reduction of urethane and urea peak was found and allophanate and biuret peak increased. Although glass transition temperature of PUF increased, mechanical properties of PUF decreased under sea water, because PUF gets brittle when crosslink density increase.

  • 자동차 공해를 저감하기 위해서는 정부 당국의 도로 여건 개선을 통한 교통 체증의 해소, 자동차 제조기술(연소, 제어, 배기가스 정화등)의 개선, 정유사의 저공해 연료 개발 및 운전자 개개인의 운전 습관 개선, 차량 정비 점검 등 제반 노력이 합치되어야 할 것이다. 이중 연료 측면에서의 대기오염 개선을 위한 저공해화 기술을 요약하면 다음과 같다. 자동차 배기가스에 영향을 미치는 휘발유의 황함량을 낮추면 휘발유 자동차의 유해 배기가스 배출이 전반적으로 감소한다. RVP와 방향족 함량은 낮을수록, 함산소화합물함량은 높을수록 HC와 CO를 저감시키며 특히 CO의 저 감이 현저하다. 90% 증류점을 낮추면 HC 배출량이 크게 감소하고 올레핀함량을 낮추면 $NO_{x$ 배출이 억제된다.

  • Aviation fuel oil is more strictly controlled than other transport fuels because it can lead to major accidents in the event of a problem. The quality standards of the aircraft are specified by the domestic Korean Standard, the American Society for Testing and Materials and the International Air Transport Association, respectively. From 2016 to 2017, the quality analysis of 6 items such as aromatic content, sulfur content and distillation characteristics was carried out on the jet fuel produced at five domestic refineries. Domestic production of jet fuel has been shown to be in conformity with the quality standards and has been maintained at a constant level throughout the year. Compared with the specification of ASTM and IATA the aromatic content of domestic KS specification is set to be strictly 1.5 wt% higher than the ASTM and IATA setting specification, but it satisfies this specification sufficiently. In addition, other items such as sulfur content, distillation property and flash point satisfied both domestic and international specification.

Analysis on Ignition Delay Time According to the Ratio of Bio-aviation Fuel in Jet A-1 Mixture (바이오항공유의 함량 변화에 따른 점화지연특성 분석)

  • In this study, the ignition delay time of blended aviation fuels was measured and analyzed to confirm the characteristic of ignition delay according to the blending ratio of bio-aviation fuel to petroleum-based aviation fuel. The ignition delay time of bio-aviation fuel(Bio-6308) was shorter than that of petroleum-based aviation fuel(Jet A-1) at all measured temperatures; further, the ignition delay time of the blended aviation fuels shortened as the ratio of Bio-6308 increased. It was confirmed that the aromatic compounds constituting the Jet A-1 affect these results; this was done by comparing the obtained ignition delay time with that of n-heptane/Toluene.

  • Aromatic and aliphatic copolyesters for the dispersing agent were synthesized by two stage reaction, esterification and polycondensation. Copolyesters were blended with PET in the melt state and their thermal and rheological properties were investigated. From GPC analysis Mn's and Mw's of copolyesters were about 30000 and 65000g/mol, respectively. From DSC experiment copolyesters had melting range of $90{\sim}150^{\circ}C$. Copolymer composition was in good agreement with comonomer feed ratio from $^1H$-NMR analysis. Copolyesters and SPA (standard sample) were blended with PET in the melt state. From DSC experiment, copolyesters and SPA were miscible with PET. From the dynamic melt viscosity experiment, melt viscosity of blended sample was increased as the content of aromatic copolyester was increased, while it was decreased as the content of aliphatic and SPA were increased. As for volume resistivity of dry color containing carbon black and copolyesters with dispersing time, aromatic copolyester showed highest value. It was conferred from this result that aromatic copolyester was the best dispersing agent for carbon black in PET resin.

Organic Compounds in Condensable Particulate Matter Emitted from Coal Combustion (석탄 연소 시 배출되는 응축성 미세먼지의 유기 성분)

  • Fine dust emitted from coal combustion is classified into filterable particulate matter (FPM) and condensable particulate matter (CPM). CPM is difficult to control with existing air pollution control devices, so research is being conducted to understand the characteristics of CPM. Components constituting condensable particulate matter (CPM) are divided into inorganic and organic components. There are many quantitative analysis results for the ionic components, which account for a significant proportion of the CPM inorganic components, but little is known about the organic components. Thus, there is a need for a quantitative analysis of CPM organic components. In this study, aromatic hydrocarbons (toluene, ethyl benzene, m,p-xylene, and o-xylene) and n-alkanes with 10 to 30 carbon atoms were quantitatively analyzed to understand the organic components of CPM emitted from a lab-scale coal combustor. Of the aromatic hydrocarbons, toluene accounted for 1.03% of the CPM organic components. On the other hand, the contents of ethyl benzene, m,p-xylene, and o-xylene showed low values of 0.11%, 0.18%, and 0.51% on average, respectively. Among the n-alkanes, triacontane (C30) showed a high content of 2.64% and decane (C10) showed a content of 2.05%. The next highest contents were shown with dodecane (C12), tetradecane (C14), and heptacosane (C27), all of which were higher than that of toluene. The n-alkane substances that had detectable concentrations showed higher contents than ethyl benzene, m,p-xylene, and o-xylene except for tetracosane (C24).
