A Study on the High Speed Driving for Plasma Display Panel (플라즈마 디스플레이 패널의 고속구동에 관한 연구)

  • 어드레스-표시 동시 구동방식을 사용한 고속 구동기술을 개발하여 실험용 PDP에 적용하였다. 연구에서 주사 펄스의 폭과 주사 펄스와 첫 번째 서스테인 펄스 사이의 시간간격을 변화시키면서 어드레스 방전 특성을 측정하였다. 실험결과 이 고속 구동기술은 어드레스 방전의 벽전하 대신에 공간전하로 서스테인 방전을 유도한다는 것을 알았다. 그리고 12개의 서브필드를 가지며 1080개의 주사선을 가지는 full-HDTV급 PDP를 구동시킬 수 있는 조건을 만족하는 $0.7{\mu}s$ 수준의 주사 펄스폭과 20V의 어드레스 구동마진을 실현하였다.

Statistical Characteristics of the Electromagnetic Pulses Radiated from Intracloud Discharges (운방전에 의해 발생한 전자장 펄스의 통계적 특성)

  • In this paper, in order to obtain the detailed information about lightning electromagnetic pulses, the electromagnetic pulses radiated from intracloud discharges were measured, and their characteristics and waveform parameters were analyzed statistically. The electromagnetic pulses produced by intracloud discharges are distinctly different with those by lightning return strokes. The zero-crossing times and the full pulse widths of the large bipolar electromagnetic pulses are gradually decreased as the stroke proceeds. Also, the electromagnetic pulses tend to be bipolar, with narrow and fast leader pulses superimposed on the initial half cycle. The mean numbers of leader pulses superimposed on the initial half cycle were 1.61$\pm$0.74 and 1.75$\pm$0.73 for the positive and negative polarities, respectively.

  • AC-PDP의 구동 요소 중 중요한 것은 벽전하와 그로부터 유도되는 벽전압, 그리고 프라이밍입자(priming partical)의 밀도 변화라고 할 수 있다. 패널의 초기화가 전구간의 방전을 좌우하기 때문에 초기화 펄스의 기울기에 따른 방전현상을 이해하고자 각 구간에서의 전기-광학적 특성과 함께 휘도와 효율의 관점에서 연구 조사하였다. 본 실험에서 사용한 reset 펄스파형은 셀의 방전개시전압과 인가전압사이의 차이가 적고, 초기 프라이밍 입자와 단위시간당 전자에 공급되는 에너지가 적은 램프형태의 초기화 펄스를 사용하였다. 실험장치는 VDS(versatile driving simulator)시스템을 이용하였다. 실험결과 reset의 기울기가 커질수록 반응시간이 빨라지며, 약방전의 형태를 고속이미지로 확인하였다.

  • Our studies diagnose insulation degradation using the method of PD system. In analysis method of degradation, we make use of degradation information that analyzed the phase angle - PD pulse amplitude - degradation time( $\Phi$- PDA - t) pattern and phase angle- PD pulse number - degradation time( $\Phi$- PDN - t) pattern using statistical operators such as skewness(S), kurtosis(K). Secondly using statically operator such as the center of gravity (G), the gradient of the discharge distribution(C), we have analyzed for the prediction of life which we can be obtained the time, occurred of many pulse of small discharge amplitude.

  • We investigated visible light radiated from Plasma focus device by time-resolved analyzed method and time-integrated analyzed method. Plasma focus consisted of two coaxial electrodes is a device that translated from electric energy of maximum 40 kV/20 kJ in capacitor banks into visible light by electric discharge. Spectral analysis is using Monochromator(f =0.5m). Time-resolved spectrum is analyzed with a oscilloscope the light pulse of constant wavelength and time-integrated spectrum does with densitometer the film which developed a constant range of wavelength. The optimum condition of visible emission was that the discharging voltage was 17kV and the gas pressure 0.5 torr Ar.

  • This study is related to the realization of high speed address driving method for Full-HD PDP. The new self-priming addressing(SPA) driving scheme was proposed to improve an address discharge time lag, which utilizes the priming effect maintaining the priming discharge during an address period. In this study, the basic characteristics of the priming ramp discharge were investigated and optimize the reset pulse and priming pulse. It is noted that the address discharge time lag is significantly improved from 1.2[${\mu}s$] to 0.8[${\mu}s$] when the slope of the priming ramp pulse is below 0.1[$V/{\mu}s$].

  • This paper deals with multiresolution analysis of wavelet transform for partial discharge(PD), composite discharge(corona + surlace discharge). Multiresolution analysis was used for performing discrete wavelet transform PD signals was decomposed into "approximation" and "detail" cOmpJnents until 4 levels by using discrete wavelet analysis. In this paper, daubechies family is adopted for the research of the characteristics of PD signals. 1be results show that in corona discharge the segment 7, 8, 9, 10, 1] values of defined variable is increased with discharge process, so phase distribution is characterized by 210~330 ranges. In case surface discharge in expoxy insulator inserted, defined variable values is fairly symmetric chscharge pattern because coupled both corona and dielectric oounded discharges. We can confimJly discriminate the type of PD source.

  • We investigated visible light radiated from Plasma Focus device by time-integrated analyzed method. Plasma focus is a device that translated from electric energy into visible light by electric discharge. Spectral analysis is using Monochromator(focal length = 0.5 m). Time-integrated spectrum is analyzed with densitometer the film which developed a constant range of wavelength. The condition of visible emission was that the discharging voltage was 13 kV and the working gas were Argon and Helium.

Parameters of the Magnetic Field Waveform Radiated from Cloud Lightning Discharges (운방전에 의해서 방사된 자장 파형의 파라미터)

  • In this paper, the recording device for measuring the magnetic field waveforms associated with the cloud lightning discharges was made by the loop-type magnetic field sensor, and the measuring system of a distance between lightning stroke point and observatory site was proposed. The parameters including the time interval of superimposed pulses, zero-to-zero crossing time and the percentage depth of the dip for the positive and the negative magnetic field waveforms were statistically analyzed as a function of the distance between the lightning discharge point and the observatory site. The results could be summarized as follows; Several superimposed pulses were observed at the initial front part of the magnetic field waveform produced by cloud lightning discharges, and the mean time interval between superimposed pulses was about $4\mu\textrm{s}$. Also, the bipolar characteristic appeared significantly and the percentage depth of the dip was about 57~65%. It was known that the zero-to-zero crossing time of the electromagnetic fields is gradually decreased as a distance between lightning discharge point and observatory site is increased.

  • 평판 스위치 전극에 인가되는 전압 변화에 따라서 전극 앞에서의 플라즈마 전위의 변화를 측정하고, 이를 이용하여 형성된 전계의 변화를 관찰하였다. 대부분 스위치 전각에 인가되는 펄스는 펄스 인가시간, 플래토(plateau)시간, 펄스 회복시간으로 구성되어 이들 세 가지 시간 구간에 따라서 전위의 변화를 측정하여 형성되는 전계를 관찰하였다. 빠른 방전 스위치의 동작특성을 이해하기 위하여 스위치 전극인가 전압의 인가시간 변화와 이에 따른 전압 변화율 및 인가전압의 크기에 따른 플라즈마 쉬스의 거동을 관찰하고, 그 크기가 펄스 변화율과 크기에 따라 변화함을 찾았다. 펄스의 회복시간 동안에 돌아오는 플라즈마 쉬스의 거동은 펄스의 인가시간동안의 변화와 유사한 거동을 보였으며 이때에도 펄스 회복율이 중요한 인자임을 알 수 있었다. 만일 펄스 변화율이 커서, 전극 앞에서의 쉬스의 거동 속도가 플라즈마 이온의 음속보다 빠르게 변할 때는 이온 매트릭스 쉬스의 거동형태를 따르고, 변화율이 늦어서 쉬스의 거동 속도가 이온의 음속보다 느리게 변하는 경우에는 Child-Langmuir 쉬스의 형태가 시간에 따라 전개됨을 알 수 있었다. 펄스 특성을 정량적으로 관찰할 수 있도록 스위치 전극에 흐르는 전류의 크기를 계산하기 위해 필요한 모델을 개발하여 실험견과와의 비교를 통하여 펄스 시간동안 플라즈마의 거동이 스위치를 흐르는 전류에 미치는 영향을 연구하였다.
