New technologies for water purification are continuously emerging to address global water quality problems, and one such technology involves advanced hermetic water purification facilities made by concrete that utilize ozone treatment processes. Better knowledge about surface deterioration of epoxy coating exposed to ozone treatment is needed as a foundation for development of improved methods and materials in the future. This study utilized atomic force microscopy (AFM), nanoindentation methods, and existing indirect methods such as visual observation, changes in mass, surface observation and chrominance analysis, to evaluate epoxy water-resistance and anti-corrosiveness. This study considered six different epoxy formulations to assess typical degradation characteristics of epoxy surfaces with regard to water-resistance/anti-corrosiveness. AFM and nanoindentation techniques emerged as promising direct methods with potential to provide quantitative measures of surface quality that are improvements upon existing indirect methods. The experiments also confirmed that some of the epoxy-coatings were severely iMPacted by ozone exposure, and thus the results demonstrate that concern about such deterioration is justified.

Recently, advanced systems for water treatment are introduced for water quality improvement. One of those systems is water treatment method using ozone($O_3$). For it has strong oxidizing energy, it is necessary to have materisl stability against $O_3$. In this paper, epoxy resin specimens using as anticorrosive material of concrete structure for drink water are used to serve as a material of deterioration evaluation. It is to be studied weight loss, surface corrosion of specimens, ingredient analysis of floating particle, a solute of chemical ingredient by way of accelerated ozone testing. As the results of experiment, specimen weight is decreased. The surface of specimen is eroded heavily and showed a loss of gloss and floating particle, and in the stability for drinking water, harmful ingredient is not detected in the water.

Recently, Advanced water treatment facilities with Ozone are being introduced owing to domestic water pollution. However, waterproofing/corrosion prevention construction method of concrete structure for existing advanced water treatment makes waterproofing/corrosion prevention materials and concrete deteriorated because of strong oxidation of ozone. it causes increase of maintenance cost and water quality degradation. Therefore, in this study, it will figure out problems of waterproofing/corrosion prevention construction method being applied to through existing studies.
A sprayable waterproofing membrane which is composed of polymer-based material is relatively easy to install due to its construction method comparing with sheet-type membranes. And a sprayable waterproofing membrane has very similar material composition to the TSL which is for a permanent support. In this study, material composition of the sprayable waterproofing membrane was changed to enhance structural properties of membrane while maintaining waterproofing performance. In order to compare with a previous research for the TSL, series of tests were performed according to the performance criteria used for permanent support material (TSL) by EFNARC (2008). From the test result, the structural performance of the sprayable waterproofing membrane considered in this study showed a performance that could be used as a permanent support material.
This study uses traditional lacquer techniques to coat the metal surface and evaluates its physical properties to check the applicability of the lacquer coating. For this purpose, a total of six specimens were produced by setting the variation conditions for the number of times (1, 2, 3) and the heating temperature (120℃, 150℃) using SS275 metal(60*60 mm) and 'Wonju lacquer'. For analysis, chromaticity measurements, contact angle/surface energy measurements, Chemical Resistance, and cross-cut tests were used. The analysis showed that the corrosivity was improved and the adhesion of lacquer to the metal surface was excellent. There was no significant change in contact angle/surface energy. Also, there was no significant difference in color. Through this study, it was confirmed that lacquer on metal surfaces improves waterproofing and has a anticorrosion effect. We could also check the proper number of lacquer and heating temperature. Additional physical characteristics such as hardness and wear rate should be studied. It is also necessary to study how lacquer can be painted with a certain thickness.
A spray-on membrane is a material composed of a polymer, and is a spray-type material that is expected to be able to replace materials such as existing shotcrete or sheet membrane for support or waterproofing purposes. In the previous studies, it is expected that the thickness of the support material such as shotcrete can be reduced if the spray-on membrane is additionally installed on the existing cement-based support materials. In this study, a three-point bending test was performed by a spray-on membrane on the high-performance shotcrete on the outside, and comparison was made between the case where high-performance shotcrete and a spray-on membrane were installed. As a result of comparing the values calculated through the standard test and the real-size bending test, there was no significant difference in terms of flexural strength, but it was found that there was a difference in flexural toughness.

The introduction of advanced water treatment facilities has increased as the conventional purification method cannot remove the substance clearly. However, the internal waterproofing and Anticorrosion materials of the advanced water treatment facility using ozone deteriorate due to the oxidation power of ozone and affects the concrete, which causes a decrease in durability. This study is to evaluate the ozone resistance according to the type of spray metal and the surface treatment method of the coating, and the bond strength after ozone treatment in order to develope a finishing method to prevent deterioration of concrete structure of water treatment facility using metal spraying method as a way to construct metal panel with excellent ozone resistance and chemical resistance by an easier way than the previous. The Experimental results show that spray metal Ti has superior ozone resistance even after spraying. It is considered to be the most suitable method for ozone resistance and bond performance by finishing using Teflon sealing as surface treatment method.
Linoleum is a resilient, hygienic, and eco-friendly floor covering. It was developed in England by Frederick Walton in 1863. Made of cork flour, linseed oil, and burlap as its main materials, the flexible and waterproof linoleum became globally popular in the early 20th century. Unlike the vinyl coverings, the burlap-backed linoleum was used not only in commercial spaces but also in household areas like kitchens, bathrooms, and even living rooms. As a global product, linoleum was imported and used in Korean palaces like Deoksugung and Changdeokgung in the early modern period. According to the record Deoksugung Won-Ahn, linoleum was applied to the major buildings, including Hamnyeongjeon, Deokhongjeon, and Jeonggwanheon, and various other venues. The linoleum used in these places are mainly monochrome blue and brown color, which probably means that they are from England. The trade records in the early 20th century show that linoleum was imported mainly from England and America. The Ewangjik building floor plan in the Changdeokgung Palace shows that linoleum was used extensively. There are even some originals, which were laid in 1920 and left in the Changdeokgung Palace. When Daejojeon and Huijeongdang were rebuilt in 1920, the interior was outfitted with western features and linoleum was used in areas such as bathrooms, the tonsorial parlor, and one of the rooms on the west side of Huijeongdang. In situ in the Daejojeon and Huijeongdang areas in the Changdeokgung Palace are monochrome, patterned black, and stylized floral tile patterned, which are closely similar to American products made by ALC and Armstrong company. This study will help us better understand linoleum's characteristics, its uses and the material itself. It will also form the basis for the restoration of Changdeokgung Palace as well as other modern interiors with linoleum flooring in the future.
