A radial chart of Excel is very useful graphical method in delivering information for numerical data. However, it is not easy to discriminate or classify many individuals. In this case, after shaping each individual of a radial chart, we need to apply shape analysis. For a radial chart, since landmarks for shaping are formed as many as the number of variables representing the characteristics of the object, we consider a shape that connects them to a line. If the shape becomes complicated due to the large number of variables, it is difficult to easily grasp even if visualized using a radial chart. Principal component analysis (PCA) is performed on variables to create a visually effective shape. The classification table and classification rate are checked by applying the techniques of traditional discriminant analysis, support vector machine (SVM), and artificial neural network (ANN), before and after principal component analysis. In addition, the difference in discrimination between the two coordinates of generalized procrustes analysis (GPA) coordinates and Bookstein coordinates is compared. Bookstein coordinates are obtained by converting the position, rotation, and scale of the shape around the base landmarks, and show higher rate than GPA coordinates for the classification rate.

In the present work, for various energy and electricity generating systems to be compared in view of integrated social impacts, nuclear, coal-fired, heavy oil-fired, and LNG, and hydroelectricity systems are considered as electricity generating options. The following assessment factors are selected: economic effect, health effect, environmental effect, and benefit at the national level. As a preliminary study, these factors are represented as power generation cost, estimated mortality, Carbon Dioxide gas emission, and fuel supply stability, respectively. For integrated representation of a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem, radar charts are introduced to facilitate a comparative recognition of estimates. In the near future, based on the estimates, a MCDM methodology for both qualitative and quantitative comparison will be developed.

In this study, a novel soft information based most probable classification scheme is proposed for sorting recyclable metal alloys with laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). Regression analysis with LIBS captured spectrums for estimating concentrations of common elements can be efficient for classifying unknown arbitrary metal alloys, even when that particular alloy is not included for training. Therefore, partial least square regression (PLSR) is employed in the proposed scheme, where spectrums of the certified reference materials (CRMs) are used for training. With the PLSR model, the concentrations of the test spectrum are estimated independently and are compared to those of CRMs for finding out the most probable class. Then, joint soft information can be obtained by assuming multi-variate normal (MVN) distribution, which enables to account the probability measure or a prior information and improves classification performance. For evaluating the proposed schemes, MVN soft information is evaluated based on PLSR of LIBS captured spectrums of 9 metal CRMs, and tested for classifying unknown metal alloys. Furthermore, the likelihood is evaluated with the radar chart to effectively visualize and search the most probable class among the candidates. By the leave-one-out cross validation tests, the proposed scheme is not only showing improved classification accuracies but also helpful for adaptive post-processing to correct the mis-classifications.

Users tend to perceive differently the service quality of library depending on the advance of digital information technologies. It is necessary to analyze the cumulative results of LibQUAL+ in order to identify the suggestions for improvement of library services. This study aims to comparatively analyze the results of LibQUAL+ and demonstrate the trends and changes for the services of university library. To achieve the purpose of this study, two university libraries were selected for analysis. The library of McGill University in Canada was selected with the six years' results of LibQUAL+. Another library located in Seoul was selected with the 2012 result of LibQUAL+ and a new LibQUAL+ in 20015 was conducted for this study. The results were analyzed with three dimensions and 22 items in terms of circular chart, bar chart, and graph. Findings of this study indicated that there were substantial differences in terms of years of LibQUAL+ survey and user groups with undergraduate/graduate students in three dimensions. In particular, the results of A library showed that users were likely to expect more from the university library, but they perceived low service quality. In addition, there was found considerable differences among users groups in terms of undergraduate and graduate students. The improvements for library services need to focus on three dimensions such as staff, resources, and facilities as well as customized services for individual user groups.
In this study, corrosion depth equation was suggested according to real measured corrosion data, and then management indexes of pipe network which can determine the deterioration rate and safety rate has been established and applied to real pipe networks. Furthermore, reliability analysis and management index analysis have been conducted to estimate and compare the deterioration rate. From the results of reliability analysis, it was found that probability of failure of 200 mm steel pipe can be increased from 4.36% at present time to 8.23% after 20years at Gaduk and from 7.35% to 12.99% at Nami. From the results of management index analysis, it was found that deterioration rates of Gaduk and Nami are 1.009 and 1.174, respectively. Priority of improvement and replacement of water pipe can be determined by results of reliability analysis and management index analysis.

In order to improvement of the perceptive of health state and the motivation, this study suggests the ways and design forms which provide PHR information customizing individual attributes as well as guidelines through a decision support system and services which integrate medical information visualization. Expression methods using the color, form, position in order to visualization based on images improved performance of information awareness by changing radar chart from existing information which provide only numerical figure. The methods providing a graphic figure which seems like beads of blood which shows the result of blood tests would also arise patient's attention. They gives the patient's information which is able to compare their health status and normal status and visualizes the records as a human figure in order to perceiving their status as well. The visualization showing the position of human body figures marks in inspection elements located in position of relevant organs. The method also uses icons represent examination results so they improve attention of the results and shorten recognize times.
