Control Method for DACS with Variable Burning Area (가변 연소면적 DACS의 압력 제어 기법)

  • Control method for DACS with variable burning area is designed and the performance of the control method is analyzed by doing simulation at various conditions. DACS, which got solid propellant on board, is designed as end-burning type typically. End-burning type DACS has the merit of controlling pressure and thrust, but it discharges the combustion gas which does not using for getting thrust. Therefore, optimal design of propellant grain and burning area changes over time as a result. Variable burning area can be assumed as a disturbance and adaptive control method is useful for pressure control of DACS effected by disturbance.

  • Continuous variable thrusters require precise thrust control to change the position or attitude of the aircraft and to control the pressure inside the combustion chamber. For this purpose, the thrust is adjusted by moving the pintle structure near the nozzle neck inside the combustion chamber by moving the pintle structure forward and backward, and the actuator is used to move the pintle structure. In this paper, we developed a actuator system for continuous variable thruster and load test system to simulate the load under operating conditions. Also, the performance test of the actuator was performed using the developed load test system

  • The high intercept probability depends on optimization of the system, which consists of target detection, tracking system, missile system and so on. To reduce the complexity of global optimization of the system performance, simplification of the relative dependances of each sub-system is done and design parameters for DACS configuration are identified. The conceptual design process is addressed based on the requirement of the design parameters and new methodology is suggested for higher performance.

  • Gas turbine engine control was originated from a single hydro-mechanical governor for fuel metering and changed to 1970s' DEEC and then today's centralized FADEC. In order to attain the goal of improvement of control performance, application of PHM technology, and reduction of system weight, it is necessary to make a transition to distributed engine control. This paper describes the concept and roadmap of distributed control, collaborative efforts of government and industry for successful development of the system, and technical challenges for the system.

  • This study is focusing on the Nagan Folk Village, primarily because of its historical and cultural values. The purpose of this study, accordingly, analysis the fact of the dwelling change through spot-survey and case-investigation, and is to find a way to improve for the rational preservation of the traditional dwelling analyzing on the actual condition and the reason for such changes in the Nakan Folk Village. The dwelling change is stemmed from the physical factors, and some modifications of internal composition, exterior formation, building equipment. As a result, The changes of internal composition are included in the reduction of garnering room, the enlargement of bed/service room, the establishment of mechanical room. The changes of exterior formation with structural material are included in the glass door for the internalization of 'TOEMARU', the extra glass door for the brightening of room, the cement plastering for the endurance of wall. The changes of building equipment are included in the establishment of oil-boiler, wash closet, sink for convenient life All houses should be graded on their qualitative value, managed in a cycle. And its own criterion for acceptable deformations should be established.

  • This paper analyzes the probability of failure for the equivalence ratio error. The control error of the equivalence ratio is affected by the aleatory and epistemic uncertainties. In general, reliability analysis techniques are easily incorporated to handle the aleatory uncertainty. However, the epistemic uncertainty requires a new approach, as it does not provide an uncertainty distribution. The Bayesian inference incorporates the reliability analysis results to handle both uncertainties. The result gives a distribution of failure probability, whose equivalence ratio does not meet the requirement. This technique can be useful in the analysis of most engineering systems, where the aleatory and epistemic uncertainties exist simultaneously.

  • Technology trends of onboard and ground health management system software for aircraft gas turbine engines are surveyed. The software has changed from ground based software for fault detection and identification to a model based health identification technology for onboard software. This advanced algorithm is currently under development in a technically advanced country while domestic research is on the birth stage. This paper suggested that the optimal development plan of the software considering current technology state.

  • We have developed a nonlithographic patterning technique using polystyrene nanoparticles to form nanonet channel structures which is promising for high-performance TFT applications. Nanoparticles assisted patterning (NAP) is a technique to form uniform nano-patterns by applying lift-off and dry etch process. Oxygen plasma treatment was used to control the diameters of nanonet hole size to realize a branch width down to 100 nm. NAP technology can be very promising to fabricate nanonet structure with advantages of lower manufacturing cost and large-area patterning capability.

  • In this paper, local industry target by analyzing the actual state of engineering education-oriented, demand for engineering education to come up with ways to improve. To this end, training human resources training program in engineering education practice Caps-tone design, Cooperative system, contract-type as the main theme of human resources in the southwestern industrial target academic staff investigate the actual conditions were run cooperative education programs. Survey, southwestern regional industry operating experience, most industry-university cooperative education program that was unsatisfactory. In addition, promoting Cooperative system experience in the industry will promote the future looked reservation position, while the Caps-tone design is somewhat academic partners participating a majority opinion education program run by the model will be developing. Regional strategy based on future demand for industry-oriented engineering education program for running is to come up with ways improvements.

  • The combustion and flow-rate control characteristics of fuel-rich gas generator which could be adopted to Ducted Rocket propulsion system are investigated. The gas generator is designed considering the design requirements of propulsion system and solid fuel for fuel-rich combustion is developed then adopted to ground test. The results of combustion test show the necessity of the special analysis tool for estimating the gas generator performance where multi-phase flow of fuel-rich gas exists. During the flow-rate control test, characteristics of gas generator pressure with the angle of valve are analyzed and, method to estimate the pressure of gas generator is suggested using the relation between the valve exit area and discharge coefficient.
