과도한 AI 검사-보상 사각지대

  • 이것은 비단 A씨만의 일이 아니다. 매년 야생 조류의 분변 검사로 이동제한에 걸리는 농가들의 불만이 커지고 있다. 바이러스 음성 결과가 나오면 이동제한은 풀리지만 방역대 해체 후에도 해당 농가들은 그 피해를 고스란히 책임져야 한다. 입식을 하루 앞두고 오늘 바이러스 항원 검출로 발이 묶이는 경우도 허다하다. 하루 하루가 돈인 오리농가들에게 실질적인 보상과 제대로 된 대책이 필요하다는 지적이 제기되고 있다. AI 보상의 사각지대, 원성이 자자한 오리농가들의 불만을 들어보자.

Detection of Viral Antigens in Stool Using EIA in Hospitalized Children and Clinical Implication (간접 효소 면역측정법을 이용한 입원 환아의 대변에서 바이러스 항원의 검출과 임상적 의의)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to detect viral coproantigens in children who were hospitalized with acute diarrhea and to compare its association with clinical symptoms. Methods: Seventy-four stool samples were collected from children admitted to Ewha Mokdong Hospital from March 1996 to December 1999. The samples were frozen and analyzed for rotavirus, adenovirus, enterovirus, astrovirus, and calicivirus by enzyme immunoassay (EIA) with monoclonal antibody. 53 stool samples were collected from patients with diarrhea (diarrheal group) and 21 stool samples from patients hospitalized for reasons other than diarrhea (control group). Clinical features and laboratory findings were reviewed in both groups. Results: Among 74 stool samples, virus antigens were detected in 60 samples. Of the 60 virus-positive stool samples, 47 enterovirus, 26 rotavirus, 16 adenovirus, 11 astrovirus, and 11 calicivirus antigens were detected by EIA. Of the 60 virus-positive stool samples, 28 samples have one viral antigen, 30 samples have 2 or more viral antigens, and 2 samples showed a simultaneous infection of Salmonella group B and enterovirus. There was no relationship between the detected virus and clinical features. Conclusion: In this study, viral coproantigen and clinical symptoms were not associated. In the future, further larger scale studies are necessary.

  • 결론부터 말하자면 현재의 기술로서 HIV감염여부를 확인하는 가장 좋은 방법은 기존의 항체 검사방법이며, 언론에서 '유전자검사'로 소개된 HIV 바이러스의 핵산을 검출하는 검사법이 HIV 감염여부를 묻는 문제에 정답을 맞추는 가장 정확한 검사법은 아니라는 것이다.

  • Corona-19, a disease caused by 'Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)', was declared a global pandemic by the World Health Organization (WHO) in March 2020, and a real-time polymerase chain reaction test is performed as a diagnostic test for screening and confirmation in most countries. However, not only the target genes and protocols differ by countries, but also the procedures for reading the diagnosis results are diverse, so the criteria for confirmed patients differ by country. Therefore, in this review, we discussed the target genes, test techniques, and diagnostic criteria for each country notified by WHO. And the specificity and sensitivity, limits of detection, positive and negative controls, false positive bacteria candidates, and specimens, and the specifics of the control setting were also described. In addition, the characteristics of Korea's test were compared to each country's one. Finally, in order to obtain the same diagnosis result for SARS-CoV-2 in the future, standardized diagnosis methods and result interpretations for Corona-19 diagnosis were proposed.

  • Purpose: This study was performed to assess the clinical and epidemiological changes after the introduction of the rotavirus vaccine in Korea, as well as to determine the efficacy of the rotavirus vaccine among hospitalized rotaviral gastroenteritis patients over the past two years. Methods: We analyzed yearly and seasonal patterns of 1,165 inpatients who were hospitalized for rotaviral gastroenteritis under the age of 5 years between 2006 and 2013. We also conducted a survey among 460 gastroenteritis patients who were hospitalized between 2012 and 2013 regarding the rotavirus vaccination and the symptoms of gastroenteritis. Among those individuals surveyed, clinical indices were analyzed for 124 patients who were tested positive for the rotavirus antigen. Results: The incidence of Rotaviral gastroenteritis have decreased significantly by year 2010. After the introduction and widespread dissemination of the rotavirus vaccine, the onset of the disease and the seasonal peak have been delayed. Overall, the vaccinated group showed a lower rate of positivity than the unvaccinated group. Among the hospitalized rotaviral gastroenteritis patients, the vaccinated group had a shorter hospitalization period, less severe clinical symptoms of gastroenteritis, and better laboratory test results. Conclusions: After introduction of the rotavirus vaccine in Korea, there were two main trends observed: 1) the overall level of disease incidence was reduced; 2) the severity of rotaviral gastroenteritis cases also decreased. Based on this data, more children should receive vaccination in order to prevent the rotavirus infection and decrease the severity of rotaviral gastroenteritis.

Laboratory Investigation of Human Rhinovirus Infection in Cheonan, Korea (7년간 천안지역 대학병원에서의 라이노바이러스 감염 양상에 대한 연구)

  • Annually, millions of children die from respiratory virus infections. Human rhinovirus (HRV) is a causative agent of severe respiratory infections in young, elderly, and asthmatic patients with weak immunity. In this study, 9,010 respiratory virus specimens were collected from January 2012 to December 2018 at Dankook University Hospital, Cheonan and examined by real-time reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction. Twelve respiratory viruses were detected. The mean detection rate was 21.3% (N=1,920/9,010), and the mean age of HRV-positive patients was 6.5 years (median age: 1.6 years, range: 0.0~96.0). The detection rate was the highest in July (32.4%) and the lowest in February (8.3%). When the detection rate was analyzed by age group, the detection rate was the second highest in patients aged 10~19 years. The co-infection rate of HRV was 35.3%, and the most common combination was with Adenovirus. Respiratory virus infections are known to occur in children and elderly people with weak immunity. However, in this study, the detection rate was second highest in patients aged 10~19 years. Indeed, the detection rate in this age group was more than 15%, except in January and February. These results suggested that steady-state studies on the infection patterns of HRV are required.

  • 어류에서 바이러스성 질병이 중요하다는 인식이 증가하고 있으며 어류바이러스의 연구를 위한 세포주의 발달이 활성화되고 있다. 하지만상대적으로 해산유래의 세포 주 수는 많지 않다. 특히 유럽과 우리나라 남ㆍ서해안에서 고급어종인 감성돔은 림포 시스티스병, 이리도바이러스병 등의 바이러스성 질병이 발생하고 있다. 본 연구는 감성돔에서 유래한 세포주 개발을 목적으로 하였으며, 감성돔의 비장에서 유래한 세포를 초대배양 및 계대배양 하여 새로운 세포주를 확립하였으며, 일련의 실험을 실시하여 확립된 세포주의 특성을 확인하고 바이러스에 대한 감수성을 검사하였다. Antimicrobial Effects of the Extract of Galla rhois on the Long-term Swine Clinical Trial (양돈 임상 연구에 의한 천연물 오배자 추출물의 항균.항바이러스 효과 규명)

  • We are aim to evaluate antimicrobial effects of the extract of Galla rhois (GR) on the health status and performance of growing and finishing pigs. This study was conducted on the growing and finishing pigs (n = 200) for 130 days in a swine husbandry. The animals were divided with two groups; GR treated group (n = 100) and commercial diet feeding group (n = 100). GR treated animals had provided with commercial diet adding the extract of GR as 0.2%. During the study period, we compared clinical signs, weight increase rate, diet consumption amount, fecal scores, gross findings, necropsy findings, histopathological findings between the treated group and non treated group. After necropsy, bacteria isolation and PCR analysis were conducted with the clinical samples. As the results of this long-term clinical trial, GR showed the antimicrobial effects on respiratory disease and diarrhea. We were identified that GR had the anti-bacterial and anti-viral effects.

  • 최근 컴퓨터와 인터넷의 급속한 발전과 더불어 컴퓨터의 데이터를 파괴하는 바이러스나 정보를 빼내기 위한 해킹 등이 만연하고 있다. 이에 컴퓨터의 데이터를 보호하기 위한 방법들이 연구중에 있는데 이 중 외부의 침입물질에 대해 자체적인 보호와 제거기능을 가지는 생체면역시스템을 이용한 컴퓨터면역시스템 구축에 대해 활발히 연구가 진행되고 있다. 생체 면역시스템은 바이러스나 병원균 등의 낮선 외부 침입자로부터 자신을 보호하고 침입자를 제거한다. 본 논문에서는 생체면역시스템의 면역세포 중 하나인 세포독성 T세포의 자기(Self)와 비자기(Nonself)를 구분하는 기능을 이용해 자기변경 검사 알고리즘을 구현하였다. 구현한 알고리즘은 자기로 인식하는 자기파일에서 자기를 구분하는 MHC 인식부를 구성한다. 이렇게 구성한 MHC 인식부는 자기파일을 대표하는 값을 이용하여 변경된 파일을 구분한다. 이 알고리즘을 변경된 자기파일에 적용함으로써 컴퓨터 해킹이나 바이러스에 의한 자기파일의 변경 검사의 유효성을 검증한다.

  • 코로나바이러스-19 팬데믹 이후 매일 수만 명의 환자가 발생하고 있다. 보건당국은 사람들의 생활 안전을 보호하기 위해 공항, 정류장 등 공공장소에서는 반드시 마스크를 착용하라고 지시하고 있다. 마스크를 착용하는 목적은 감염으로부터 신체를 보호하고 바이러스 전파와 확산을 막기 위한 것이다. 공공장소에서는 많은 인원에 대한 일괄적인 마스크 착용 검사를 하기 어렵고, 육안으로 확인하는 마스크 착용 검사 방법은 인파가 몰리는 장소에서 검사 효율이 떨어지며 누락되는 경우도 많이 발생한다. 본 연구에서는 입력 이미지에 존재하는 얼굴 영역을 YOLOv4와 YOLOv5 모델을 통해 예측하여 마스크의 착용 여부를 판단하되, 앙상블 기법을 적용하여 보다 효과적인 BB(Bounding Box) 추출 및 마스크 착용 탐지 기법을 적용한다. 따라서 공공장소의 마스크 착용실태를 효과적으로 모니터링 할 수 있는 방법을 제안한다.
