  • The effective thermal conductivity of two-phase materials such as unbonded silica sands saturated with a nanofluid was measured at high temperature using the transient thermal probe method. The nanofluid used in this study was a water-based mixture of 0.1 vol% $Al_2O_3$ nanoparticles with a diameter of 45 nm. The convection problem for fluids was prevented with this measurement method because the fluid was confined to within very small pore spaces. Based on the prediction model for unbonded sands, the thermal conductivities of the saturating nanofluid at high temperatures could be determined with the measured effective thermal conductivities for the two-phase material. In the results, increases in the thermal conductivity ratios of the nanofluid to pure water when temperatures were varied from $30^{\circ}$ to $80^{\circ}C$ were within the range of 4.87%~5.48%.

  • In this study, we developed a micromixer based on the non-equilibrium electrokinetics at the junction of a microchannel and nanochannel. Two fluid streams were mixed by an electro-osmotic flow and a vortex flow created as a result of the non-equilibrium electrokinetics at the junction of the microchannel and nanochannel. Initially, the microchannel was fabricated using Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) by the general soft lithography process and the nanochannel was created at a specific position on the microchannel by applying a high voltage. To evaluate the mixing performance of the micromixer, fluorescent distribution was analyzed by using the fluorescent dye, Rhodamine B. About 90% mixing was achieved with this novel micromixer, and this micromixer can be used in microsystems for biochemical sample analysis.

  • A wall flow sensor has been used for feedback flow control and wall shear stress measurement. In this study, we developed a new wall flow sensor by combining the PIV algorithm and the micro image sensor used in an optical mouse. The feasibility of the wall flow sensor was investigated by using simulated fluid flow experiments. Compared with the quadrature signal from imaging devices, the accuracy of the wall flow velocity measurement was improved and the dynamic range increased. In addition, the depth information of particles was also measured by using the defocusing imaging technique.

  • Over the last decade sophisticated and powerful microcapillary HPLC for proteomic analysis have been developed increasingly and interfaced with high resolution tandem mass spectrometers. Separation prior to mass spectrometric (MS) analysis removes impurities, and concentrates analytes in the narrow elution peaks, resulting in increased sensitivity of MS analysis. This review will focus on the recent advances of on-line highperformance separation techniques based on microfluidic chips for complex proteomic analysis.

  • Micro-Channel ultra-precision polishing is a new technology used in magnetic field-assisted relishing. In this paper, an electromagnet or the i18 of test system was designed and manufactured. A size of magnetic abrasive is used on 25~75${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and for the polish a micro-channel upper part. A surface of channel which is not even is manufactured using magnetic abrasive finishing at upper surface of micro-channel. As a result, the surface roughness rose by 80% after upper surface of micro- channel was polished up 8 minutes by polishing.
