Hierarchical Modulation Scheme for 3D Stereoscopic Video Transmission Over Maritime Channel Environment (해양 채널 환경에서 3D 입체영상의 전송을 위한 계층변조 기법)

  • Recently, Due to the rapid growth of broadcasting communication and video coding technologies, the demands for immersive media contents based on 3D stereoscopic video will increase steadily. And the demands must ultimately provide the contents for users which are in wireless channel such as vehicle, train, and ship. Thus, in this paper, we transmit the 3D stereoscopic video over the maritime Rician channel that direct wave is more dominant than reflective wave. Besides, we present unequel error protection (UEP) by applying hierarchical 4/16-QAM to V+D(Video plus Depth) format which can represent 3D stereoscopic video. We expect our system to provide seamless broadcasting service for users with poor reception condition.

  • As Internet is popularized by the advent of Web concept having characteristics such as open network, user-friendly, and easy-usage, there are many changes in Information systems providing various information. Web is rapidly transferred traditional Information systems to Web-based Information systems, because it provides not only text information but also multimedia information including image, audio, video, and etc. Also, as information contents were changed from text-based simple abstract information to full-text information, there was appeared various document formats processing Full-text information. But, as they naturally demand large systems memory, long processing time, broader transmission bandwidth, and etc, estimating of these factors is necessary when constructing information systems. This paper focuses on how to design and construct information system processing full-text information and providing function of an integrated document. Primarily, we should review standard document format which is used or developed, and any document format is appropriate to process full-text information in review with viewpoint of information system. Also, practically we should construct information system providing full-text information based on PDF document.

  • The 360 VR video has a format of a stereoscopic shape such as an isometric shape or a cubic shape or a cubic shape. Although these formats have different characteristics, they have in common that the resolution is higher than that of a normal 2D video. Therefore, it takes much longer time to perform coding/decoding on 360 VR video than 2D Video, so parallel processing techniques are essential when it comes to coding 360 VR video. HEVC, the state of art 2D video codec, uses Wavefront Parallel Processing (WPP) technology as a standard for parallelization. This technique is optimized for 2D videos and does not show optimal performance when used in 3D videos. Therefore, a suitable method for WPP is required for 3D video. In this paper, we propose WPP coding/decoding method which improves WPP performance on cube map format 3D video. The experiment was applied to the HEVC reference software HM 12.0. The experimental results show that there is no significant loss of PSNR compared with the existing WPP, and the coding complexity of 15% to 20% is further reduced. The proposed method is expected to be included in the future 3D VR video codecs.

  • 최근의 방송은 A/V 프로그램만을 보내주던 기존의 방송에서 데이터를 연동하여 서비스하는 방송으로 변화하였다. 데이터 방송은 지상파, 위성, 케이블 등의 방송망을 이용하여 하나의 방송사가 다수의 시청자에게 디지털 멀티미디어 콘텐츠를 여러 종류의 단말기에 전송하는 것이다. 이러한 데이터 방송을 통해 시청자가 직간접적으로 프로그램에 참여할 수 있게 된다. 이러한 서비스를 위해 필요한 여러 기술 중에 사용자의 인터페이스를 제공하기 위한 콘텐츠 표현 기술이 필요하다. 대표적인 콘텐츠의 표현 기술은 HAVi UI와 eTV 시스템이 있다. HAVi UI는 자바 컴포넌트 API로 구성되어 있으며 HAVi 컴포넌트 API로 셋톱박스 어플리케이션(Xlet)을 개발한다. 개발된 Xlet 프로그램은 미들웨어 시스템에 탑재된 자바 가상 머신을 통해 실행된다. eTV 시스템은 범용 마크업 언어인 XML로 어플리케이션을 개발한다. 개발된 eTV 어플리케이션은 eTV 바이너리 생성기를 통해 EBIF가 생성되고 셋톱박스에 탑재된 eTV 리시버에서 실행된다. 본 논문에서는 eTV 시스템을 구성하기 위한 구성요소에서 서버 모듈인 eTV 바이너리 포맷 생성기를 개발하였다. eTV 시스템 개발을 통해서 데이터 방송을 위한 사용자 인터페이스의 기능을 확대 할 수 있으며, 시청자의 선택에 따른 방송을 보다 폭 넓게 제공할 수 있다.

A Programmable Multi-Format Video Decoder (프로그래머블 멀티 포맷 비디오 디코더)

  • This paper introduces a programmable multi-format video decoder(MFD) to support HEVC(High Efficiency Video Coding) standard and for other video coding standards. The goal of the proposed MFD is the high-end FHD(Full High Definition) video decoder needed for a DTV(Digital Tele-Vision) SoC(System on Chip). The proposed platform consists of a hybrid architecture that is comprised of reconfigurable processors and flexible hardware accelerators to support the massive computational load and various kinds of video coding standards. The experimental results show that the proposed architecture is operating at a 300MHz clock that is capable of decoding HEVC bit-stream of FHD 30 frames per second.

  • This paper studied the process of changes of the heading which is access point of the catalog in the cataloging Rules. The first described change of the concept of heading, and described change of headings in the Korean Cataloging Rules and Anglo-American Cataloging Rules And then described heading; in the online environment and future of cataloging rules. The concept of the main entry has lost any meaningful purpose in today's online catalog environment despite a multiplicity of definition. To bring cataloging rules up-to-date, Headings of KCR, AhCR2 Chapter 21, the MARC format and KORMARC format need to be revised The revision of this cataloging rules should be based on Hypertext and Hypermedia. A Continued empirical research would be most welcome, and should be incorporated into future cataloging rules.

  • This paper presents encryption techniques for digital right management solutions of MPEG-4 streams. MPEG-4 is a format for multimedia streaming and stored in the MPEG-4 file format. We designed three kinds of encryption methods, which encrypt macro blocks (MBs) or motion vectors (MVs) of I-, P-VOPs (Video Object Planes), extracted from the MPEG-4 file format. We used DES to encrypt MPEG-4 data Based on theses three methods, we designed and implemented a DRM solution for an Internet broadcasting service, which enabled a MPEG-4 data streaming, and then compared the results of decryption speed and quality of rendered video sequences to get an optimal encryption method.

  • Virtual Reality (VR) has lately gained significant attention primarily driven by the recent market availability of consumer devices, such as mobile phone-based Head Mounted Displays (HMDs). Apart from classic gaming use cases, the delivery of $360^{\circ}$ video is considered as another major application and is expected to be ubiquitous in the near future. However, the delivery and decoding of high-resolution $360^{\circ}$ videos in desirable quality is a challenging task due to network limitations and constraints on available end device decoding and processing. In this paper, we focus on aspects of $360^{\circ}$ video streaming and provide an overview and discussion of possible solutions as well as considerations for future VR video streaming applications. This paper mainly focuses on the status of the standardization activities, Omnidirectional MediA Format (OMAF), to support interoperable $360^{\circ}$ video streaming services. More concretely, MPEG's ongoing work for OMA aims at harmonization of VR video platforms and applications. The paper also discusses the integration in MPEG Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (MPEG-DASH), which is considered as $360^{\circ}$ video streaming services with OMAF content.   • The IPTV service has to be converted into an unified media format that fits for a variety of terminal equipments in terms of the bulk high-capacity media contents, and is spending a lot of time in the conversion time of contents including the process of collecting the media contents and extracting the information for conversion. In order to solve the problem, this paper designed the database in accordance with the automatic collection of time, and proposed a system that could increase the productivity of the contents through the automation process of the entire process using the media server and the transcoder. The media server collected contents and extracted information automatically with respect to the contents servers placed in specific locations and the media files of the storage whereas the transcoder conducted the automatic upload of the converted results to a specific server through the process of automatic conversion. As a result, the various convergence through compared to existing conversion method could minimized unnecessary waste of time.

  • Owing to the latest development of component and media processing technologies, UHDTV as a successor of the HDTV is expected that this will be coming soon realization. Accordingly, an audio technology that provides a 5.1-channel surround sound in home should be contemplating on what services should be provided with the advent of UHDTV era. In fact, however, the market of 5.1-channel audio is struggling, due to the difficulty of installation and maintenance of the multi speakers in a home. Meanwhile, the movie sound market for a long time been used in 5.1 and 7.1-channel sound formats, have changed as Dolby ATMOS, IOSONO, AURO3D etc. are launched one after another with the introduction of hybrid audio technologies that include the ceiling and object-based sounds. This very object-based audio technology is assured to be introduced in the home theater and broadcast audio market, and this change in audio technology is expected to be a breath of pioneering technological advances and market growth from the channel-based audio market that lacks flexibility. In this paper, we will investigate a suitable realistic audio solution for UHDTV, and introduce hybrid audio technologies, which is expected to be an audio technology for UHDTV, and we will describe the hybrid audio content format and reproduction methods in a home and consider the future prospects of realistic audio.
