Indoor Test of a Multi-band Network Selection System for Maritime Networks (해상멀티대역 네트워크 선택기 시스템 실증 연구)

  • As maritime information and communication technology has been developing and the demands for various kinds of application services has been increasing nowadays, the multi-band maritime networks combining available multiple radio networks has been introduced. We have previously proposed a multi-band network selection(MNS) system which operates in the middleware layer and selects the best available network seamlessly. In this paper we develop MNS server software, network interfaces, and application program. The functionalities of the MNS system, including updating network status, connecting to heterogeneous networks, and communicating in the best network are also verified via indoor test.

  • The purpose of this paper is developing a PML server which is capable of saving and managing effectively the information of vehicles using RFID technology in the logistical and distributive environment. The PML server logs and manages the real-time static and dynamic information about the vehicles in EPC code format which is represented by XML schema and transmitted by the RFID reader to the server. It receives information from SAVANT the RFID middleware and transmits the data to the traffic information management application The main system we developed consists of the EPC data registry, query processor, data converter, vehicle product and instance data storage, system management tool and application API parts.

  • UPnP(Universal Plug and Play) is commercial product for the first time in home network middlewares, but it has problem that it has no security standards in UPnP specification. In this paper, we present UPnP security model. It is based on XML Signature of XML Security. It provides UPnP with secure services which are device control message authentication and user access level control. It is independent of UPnP modules and has mobility of secure service modules for non secure ability user part. We conclude this paper with an example of applying UPnP Security model to the UPnP audio device control and an test example.

  • This paper presents the model that integrates an SDL system and a CORBA system using mapping rules between method and signal for developing embedded systems connected with internet. In order to support communication between the two different systems (SDL and CORBA), it is essential to secure the conversion interface between SDL communication protocol and CORBA communication protocol. In this paper, IDL is adopted for the communication interface and the conversion of the communication protocol between the two systems, and the IDL compiler automatically generates the interface for protocol interoperability. The proposed model adopts middleware on the subpart of the SDL based legacy system, and hence, supports the service on the distributed system, regardless of the environment and location of the server system.

  • Software architecture and protocols to be maintained between components for the reconfigurable SDR system is analyzed and suggest system design idea for the implementation of software. To do this, related surveys are reviews and set up the system model with the structure of embedded system. SDR system architecture is suggested with five layered structure, consisted with hardware, operating system, middle-ware, service objects and application layer. SDR system is designed to be work on the basis of Linux operating system, and aimed to be scalable and reconfigurable. It is introduced the design result of software protocol and state transition diagram for the implementations of software download function which is the most important feature in SDR.

  • In a u-City project in Busan, public transportation which is one of ITS has been considered. RFID system embedded with PXA255 chip and middleware capable of communicating a server side was developed. To perform data communication link with traffic card, developed system consists of wireless modules that are wireless LAN (IEEE802.11a/b and IEEE802.16. Using developed RFID system and middleware, it is expected that this system becomes a basic infrastructure to support a service of u-Traffic for u-City construction.

  • Complex disasters make greater damage and higher losses unexpected than the past. To prevent these disasters, it needs to prepare a plan for handling unexpected results. Especially an accident at a facility like an atomic power plant makes a big problem cause of climate change. A simulation needs to do preliminary researches based on diverse situations. In this research we define the basic component techniques to design and implement the disaster management system. Basically a hierarchical system design method is to build on the resources provided from high performance computing(HPC) and large-scale storage systems. To develop the system, it is considered middleware as well as application studies, data studies and decision making services in convergence areas.

  • The goal of Ubiquitous Sensor Network(USN) environments is to provide users high quality services based on a variety of sensors. In this environment, sensor devices, sensor nodes and sensor networks are heterogeneous and have various characteristics. Therefore it is important for interoperability to define a metadata for describing USN resources. The OGC(Open Geospatial Consortium) proposes SensorML(Sensor Model Language) as a standard language for modeling sensors. However, SensorML provides a framework for describing a processing model among sensors rather than describing information of sensors. Therefore, to describe a USN metadata is not main purposes of SensorML. This paper defines a USN metadata which describes information about sensor device, sensor node, and sensor network. Also the paper proposes a method for efficiently storing and searching the USN metadata and implements a USN metadata management system based on our method. We show that our metadata management system is reasonable for managing the USN metadata through performance evaluation. Our USN metadata keeps the interoperability in USN environments because the metadata is designed on SensorML. The USN metadata management system can be used directly for a USN middleware or USN application.

  • This paper will propose the efficient method that should be designed to utilize the design pattern of GoF(Gang of Four) for implementation of LBS(Location Based Service) mobile system. The design method proposed by this paper can design and implement system interface using creational patterns, structural patterns and behavioral patterns of design pattern from the user and mobile system viewpoint. The design method using design pattern can show increasing reusability of module and software, abridging the development time, minimizing the maintenance and decreasing the efficiency of memory of system to software development. Therefore, we used a design pattern in order to change the middleware applying geographic information system from mobile environment. Finally, the mobile system applied to design pattern shall contribute to showing high stability and reliability, improving reusability and scalability of module and software and developing efficient LBS mobile system.

  • In an environment of home network where a number of technologies including heterogeneous hardware platforms, networking and protocols, middleware systems, and etc, exist, OSGi provides a platform for deployment and sharing of services managed in hardware and guarantees compatibility among applications. However, only simple control and processing of event data are considered in a home network using OSGi, and the consideration about real time processing of data stream generated by sensors is not enough. Therefore, researches allowing users to effectively develop OSGi applications by using various kinds of sensors generating data streams in the home network environment using OSGi are needed. In this paper, we propose an effective method of processing various types of real time data streams supplied to OSGi applications, including filtering, grouping, and counting, etc.
