The purpose of this study is to propose the expansion of headings for digital trends of Korean Decimal Classification. In order to achieve the purpose, this study first analyzed the change process of classification items related to digital resources in DDC and KDC. Second, subject names related to digital in LCSH and Korean National Library Subject Heading were analyzed. Third, comparisons between the items related to digital of DDC 23rd with LCSH and KDC with Korean National Library Subject Heading were conducted. The result of comparative analysis was identified that KDC 6th edition faces with difficulties in reasonable classification because item names related to digital of KDC 6th edition have 11 items. Therefore, the item related to digital has to be expanded to new classification item name and has to add include notes and class here notes in KDC.

This study examined the changes, development and characteristics of the cartographic materials field in LCC as a suggestion of an ideal classification scheme which is necessary for classily the cartographic materials in libraries. The main purpose this study is to suggest how to apply the examination results to the related subject field in KDC focused on the integration and subdivision of area table and developing subject subdivision table.

This study investigated general problems concerning the social welfare field in the KDC 6th edition based comparative analysis academic characteristics and classification system, and suggested on some ideas for the improvements of them. Results of the study are summarized as follows. First, a main field of the social welfare is generally divided into a general social welfare, social works, and social welfare services to special classes and groups including people with disabilities, young people, aged, women, and families. Second, I analyzed on social welfare from the collection database at the National Library of Korea. Based on analysis of the data. the keyword frequency of social welfare policy and management, pensions, care services, and support works for the underprivileged was relatively high. Third, modified classification of items was basically performed through the academic characteristics of the social welfare and the keyword analysis, and maintaining the existing KDC classification system caused less confusion as much as possible.

First, academic field of tourism is generally divided into a general tourism, tourists, tourism attraction, and tourism media, but classification system of tourism is limited to parts of tourism attraction and a general tourism. Tourism attraction and tourism media are dispersed among the subject. Second, I analyzed on tourism from the collection database at the National Library of Korea. Based on analysis of the data. the keyword frequency of tourism management, type, development, psychology, industry, and convention etc. was relatively high. Third, modified classification of items was basically performed through the academic characteristics of the tourism and the keyword analysis, and maintaining the existing KDC classification system caused less confusion as much as possible. Also, based on this matter was added to the relative indexes.

This study investigated general problems concerning the physical education field in the KDC 6th edition based on comparative analysis of academic characteristics and classification system, and suggested some ideas for the improvements of them. Results of this study are is summarized as follows. First, while the academic classification divided items focusing on theoretical disciplines such as physical education, sociology, or business administration, the library classification divided them into details according to sport entries. Second, We examined the classification status of the physical education field of the collection database in the National Library of Korea. The number of physical education field data was 38,585, and of them, that of books having classification codes starting with 692(physical education, sports) was 22,870. This shows that data actually have been published mainly based on academic characteristics rather than sport entries, which causes a problem due to concentration of many data on one classification code. Therefore, this study analyzed keywords around these classification codes. Third, modified classification of items was basically performed through the academic system of the physical education and the keyword analysis, and the typical KDC classification system was maintained as much as possible.
