In this paper, impacts on the COMS MI images during the COMS eclipse period were analyzed and the method to eliminate the contaminated area was investigated. Main effect on the meteorological images during the eclipse is a stripping effect due to a strong stray light. The quantitative analyses were conducted during the COMS In-Orbit-Test period and the impacts of the stray light on the four infrared channels of the COMS MI according to the distance with respect to the Sun were examined. Based on the typical case of the stray light influence on the infrared channel of the MI, the intensity of contamination due to the stray light was investigated for each channel using the computed COMS eclipse information. The effectiveness of removal of a contaminated area by replacing the SWIR with the combined WINDOW channels was promising.
A mobile phone camera consisting of two aspheric lenses is designed, and stray light distribution on the image plane is analyzed. We assume that most of the incident light is absorbed on the inner surfaces of the lens barrel and spacers, only a small fraction of the light is scattered uniformly. Assuming that 10% of the incident light is scattered on the barrel and spacers, the maximum value of stray light is 7.1% of the ideal image intensity. The result of analysis shows that stray light originated mostly from internal reflection on the ribs. The contributions of scattering by the barrel and spacers are relatively small. To reduce the internal reflection, thin absorbing plates are inserted between lenses, and the shapes of spacers are modified. After the redesigning of the lens barrel, the maximum value of stray light is reduced to 1.1% of the ideal image intensity.

This paper was studied as the following steps. 1) The relation between the brightness and the AC voltage on the EL cell made from ZnS powder was investigated. 2) The relation among the photocurrent, the applied AC voltage and the illumination on the protoconductive cell which was made of CdS powder, was examined. 3) From the above relations approximate equations were made. Also the theoretical gain equation of the light amplifier was derived. 4) Comparing the theoretical gain value to the experimental gain value of the light amplifier which was composed of EL and PC cells, it was come to the conclusion that the gain equation was correct within 2% errors and was useful to comprehensibility of the light amplifier and to design of it.
'Migwang' is a new japonica rice variety developed from a cross between SR15926-10-2-3-3-3 having a good canopy architecture and multiple disease resistance, and Iksan431 having a translucent milled rice and good eating-quality with a view of developing a new variety having multiple disease resistance by the rice breeding team at NICS, RDA in 2009. The heading date of this variety is August 15 and later than check variety, Hwaseongbyeo, by four days. 'Migwang' has 75 cm of culm length and 98 spikelets per panicle. This variety showed longer heading delay and higher spikelet sterility than those of Hwaseongbyeo while exposed to cold stress. This variety showed resistance to blast disease and bacterial leaf blight, but susceptible to rice stripe virus and planthoppers. The milled rice of this variety exhibits translucent, clear non-glutinous endosperm and short grain shape. 'Migwang' has better palatability index of cooked rice than that of Hwaseongbyeo. The whole grain rate of milled rice and milled rice recovery of 'Migwang' are higher than those of Hwaseongbyeo as 96.8% and 73.1%, respectively. 'Migwang' has 5.5 MT/ha in milled rice. 'Migwang' could be adaptable to the middle plain area, mid-western and southeastern costal areas and mid-mountainous areas in Korea.
This paper reports on the stray light analysis results of a compact imaging spectrometer (COMIS) for a microsatellite STSAT-3. COMIS images Earth's surface and atmosphere with ground sampling distances of 27 m at the 18~62 spectral bands (0.4 ~ 1.05 ${\mu}m$) for the nadir looking at an altitude of 700 km. COMIS has an imaging telescope and an imaging spectrometer box into which three electronics PCBs are embedded. The telescope images a $27m{\times}28km$ area of Earth surface onto a slit of dimensions $11.8{\mu}m{\times}12.1mm$. This corresponds to a ground sampling distance of 27 m and a swath width of 28 km for nadir looking posture at an altitude of 700 km. Then the optics relays and disperses the slit image onto the detector thereby producing a monochrome image of the entrance slit formed on each row of detector elements. The spectrum of each point in the row is imaged along a detector column. The optical mounts and housing structures are designed in order to prevent stray light from arriving onto the image and so deteriorating the signal to noise ratio (SNR). The stray light analysis, performed by a non-sequential ray tracing software (LightTools) with three dimensional housing and lens modeling, confirms that the ghost and stray light arriving at the detector plane has the relative intensity of ${\sim}10^{-5}$ and furthermore it locates outside the concerned image size i.e. the field of view of the optics.

An image intensifying device is equipment that makes weak objects visible in a dark environment, such as making nighttime bright enough to let objects be visually observed. It is possible to obtain a clear image by amplifying the light in the presence of a certain amount of weak light. However, in an extremely low-light environment, where even moonlight is not present, there is not enough light to amplify anything, and the sharpness of the screen deteriorates. In this paper, a method is proposed to improve image quality by using multiple filters and anisotropic diffusion for output noise of the image-intensifying device in extreme low-light environments. For the experiment, the output of the image-intensifying device was obtained under extremely low-light conditions, and signal processing for improving the image quality was performed. The configuration of the filters for signal processing uses anisotropic diffusion after applying a median filter and a Wiener filter for effective removal of salt-and-pepper noise and Gaussian noise, which constitute the main noise appearing in the image. Experimental results show that the improvement visually enhanced image quality. Both peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and SSIM, which are quantitative indicators, show improved values.

The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of stray light originating from the blue-light blocking lens on the quality of the image. After designing the ideal spectacle lens, anti-reflection spectacle lens without internal reflection, anti-reflection spectacle lens with internal reflection, and blue-light blocking lens with internal reflection, the light intensity distribution and stray light distribution were derived. The designed spectacle lenses are meniscus lenses with a refractive power of 0.00 D, refractive index of 1.56, and a radius of 155.15 mm. The peaks of reflectance of the 4 types of blue-light blocking lenses are in the range between 430 nm and 440 nm, and their reflectances are 5%, 10%, 15%, and 20%, respectively. According to the analysis results, as the reflectance of the blue-light blocking lens increases, the light intensity in the center of the lens decreases and the intensity of the stray light in the center-periphery and periphery of the lens increases. This trend appeared to intensify with increasing reflectance of the blue-light blocking lenses. Because the increase in the reflectance of the blue-light blocking lens degrades the quality of the image by increasing the intensity of the stray light in the center-periphery and periphery of the lens, its reflectance needs to be adjusted by varying the blue-light blocking ratio and the luminous transmittance, in order to diminish the level of visual discomfort.
