Remediation of Heavy Metal Contamination in OBOD Site with Soil Washing : Selection of Extractants (토양세척법에 의한 중금속오염 폐탄처리장 토양의 정화 : 세척액의 선정)

  • The efficiences of mineral acid (HCl), neutral salts ($CaCl_2$), and chelating agent (citric acid and $Na_2$-EDTA) were tested for extracting heavy metals from open burning and open detonation (OBOD) site soil. The extraction efficiencies of Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn from soil for various extractants were in the order of HCl > citric acid > $Na_2$-EDTA > $CaCl_2$, HCl (1.0 M) extracted effectively 82%, 86%, 80%, and 46% of initial total concentrations of Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn, respectively. Significant negative correlations were observed between pH of extractant and amount of extracted heavy metals. Initially, examined heavy metals were predominantly bound to carbonate and Fe, Mn-oxide fraction. Though the significant amount of carbonate and Fe, Mn-oxide bounded metals were removed but a significant amount remained metals shifted to exchangeable (more mobile) fraction by HCl and citric acid extraction. The increased mobility of remaining metals could be problematic for water resources, thus careful management is needed to control the movement of heavy metals.

Risk Assessment of Groundwater Used for Washing GAP-certified Agricultural Crops after Harvest (GAP 농산물의 수확 후 처리에 사용되는 지하수의 위해성평가)

  • Recently, due to the fact that the mineral content in the wash water of the GAP-certified melon exceeds the GAP wash water standards, there are cases where the certification cannot be maintained. Therefore, agricultural industry demand requesting relaxation of the inorganic elements standard for water quality has been increasing, taking into account the consumption characteristics of Korean melon, which is eaten after removing the peel. This study was conducted to evaluate the human risks of four inorganic materials (fluorine, arsenic, iron and manganese) based on the water quality data of 142 samples of groundwater that was used for washing GAP-certified Korean melon in Seongju area from 2017 to 2019. As a result, the HQ of four minerals in Koreans who consumed groundwater used for washing GAP-certified Korean melons in the Seongju area was below 0.10 on average. In particular, in the case of iron and manganese which are esthetic influence substances, the average HQ was 0.00. The overexposure group showed 0.01, which was lower than the HQ (average 0.01, overexposure group 0.03) of the group that consumed Korean melon. Based on all the results, even if the groundwater of the Seongju area is used to wash GAP-certified Korean melon, the impact from these four inorganic materials, including iron and manganese, for Korean population consuming Korean melon will be minimal.

The Effect of Washing Conditions on the Dimension and Mechanical Properties of Spandex Yarns (세척조건에 스판덱스사의 길이와 기계적 성질에 미치는 영향)

  • The durability of a stretch fabric is mainly related to the change in the dimension and mechanical properties of elastomeric fibers during wearing and washing. In this study, we examined the effects of washing temperature, presoaking time and the number of washing cycles on the change in length, tenacity, elongation at break, and permanent elongation after six repeated cycles of $100\%$ extension and relaxation of spandex yams with varying fineness and with a different rate of extension during heat-set. The spandex yarns continued to shrink as the wash temperature and the number of wash cycles increased. In addition, the finer spandex yams decreased in length more than the thicker yams. The increase in temperature and presoaking time tended to cause a slight decrease in the tenacity and elongation at break of the spandex yarns. Permanent elongation of the spandex yams also increased as the temperature, presoaking time and the number of washing cycles increased. Moreover, an extended presoaking time followed by washing at $40\%$ like repeated washing cycles showed the great increase in the permanent elongation of spandex yams. The thinner spandex yin had a better elasticity than the thicker one, since the former had a lower permanent elongation percentage than the latter. Based on the DSC thermograms, the melting points of the spandex yarns after washing were almost the same as those of the spandex yarns before washing.

Effects of Idophore and Limewater On the Cleaning and Sanitizing of Dairy Farm Equipment (Idophore 및 석회수(石灰水) 처리(處理)가 낙농기구(酪農機具)의 세척(洗滌)및 살균(殺菌) 효과(效果)에 미치는 영향(影響))

  • The purpose of this investigation was to study whether limewater can be used as dairy detergent-sanitizer for dairy farm euipment compared with idophore in the milking machine. 1. Milkstone deposition was increased slightly by idophore and limewater pre-rinse but seriously increased by milking without pre-rinse for 6 days milking. 2. Milkstone deposition was increased by increasing temperature of pre-rinse sanitizer solutions. 3. Limewater rinse was more effective than idophore rinse and tap water rinse in removing butterfat. 4. Idophore and limewater rinse was more effective than tap water rinse in removing milk solid. 5. Both of idophore and limewater were found to be significantly effective for milk bactericidal. 6. It was conclused that good hygienic raw milk can be producesed from dairy farm by idophore and limewater per-rinse.

Effects of Bowl Material and Rinsing Period on Variation in the Amount of Residual Surfactant Resided in the Bowls after Dish-Washing (세제세척 후 용기재질과 헹굼시간에 따른 계면활성제 잔류량 변화)

  • This study selected representative popular bowls used in daily life and laboratory and investigated the amount of residual surfactant resided in the bowls that were dish-washed. The bowls were washed by a scourer soaking 8 mL-detergent and then rinsed by flowing water for 7 or 15 seconds. One hundred milliliter of distilled water was placed in the washed-bowls to extract residual surfactant on the bowl surface and then analysed. All washed-bowls included residual surfactant after 7 second-rinsing. Residual surfactant concentrations in Ttukbaegi (earthen bowl), flying pan, glass bowl, and plastic bowl were 4.68, 1.22, 0.57, and 0.25 mg/L, respectively. However, the 15 second-rinsing showed that surfactant was detected only in Ttukbaegi and other bowls were clean. The results showed that surfactant would reside on the porous or rough surface of the bowl even after final rinsing. This study imply that all bowls and glasses should be throughly rinsed after detergent-washing to reduce continuos ingestion. Furthermore, residual surfactant in the glassware of laboratory may significantly affect experiment results.

Effects of the Wet Cleaning to the Color Change of the Dyed Fabrics with Natural Dyes (천연염색포의 습식세척에 의한 색상변화)

  • In the Chosun period, the noble class usually buried the dead bodies in the lime-covered tomb. Recently their costumes are excavated while maintaining the shape. However, the textiles discovered from the inside have been degradated by a body and moisture. To conserve these textiles one of the most important thing is how to clean these textiles right after the excavation. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of wet cleaning to minimize the color change of textile remains. For this purpose, silk and cotton were dyed with natural dyes (7 red, 1 blue, 6 yellow, 4 green and 4 purple colors), then they were kept for 6 months with pork meat at $10^{\circ}C$, and were washed by four cleaning solutions (water, anionic surfactant (SDS), non-ionic surfactant (Triton X-100) and natural surfactant (saponin)) at $20^{\circ}C$ and $40^{\circ}C$. The color change was evaluated by color difference (${\Delta}E$) between non-treated and after washed samples. From the results, it was found that the color changes are significantly different depending on the washing temperature, textile material, the cleaning agents and the type of dyes.

  • 전국의 축산물 판매업소의 규모를 보면 소형 영업소는 14%, 중형 영업소는 18%, 대형 영업소는 68%로 조사되었다. 비포장 쇠고기의 등급별 용도 및 식육의 종류 표시 준수, 포장 쇠고기의 보관 방법 및 조리방법 표시 준수 등의 시급한 개선이 필요한 것으로 조사되었으며, 축산물 판매업소의 위생 실태에 관한 모니터링에서는 조사 지역에 관계없이 금속류 및 이물질 검출, 기계, 기구류의 세척 및 소독, 위생적 보관, 종업원의 장신구 접촉 예방 등의 항목에서 상대적으로 저조한 적합률을 나타내어 이에 대한 시급한 개선 및 교육이 필요한 것으로 조사되었다.

극저온 $CO_2$를 이용한 세정장치 개발

  • 본 발명은 승화성 고체 미립자 제트를 이용한 분사로 표면의 오염물을 제거하는 공정이다. 이는 극저온에서 고화된 입자가 표면에 고속 충돌 후 오염물을 제거하고 자신은 승화되어 잔사를 남기지 않는 청정 세척 공정을 말하는데 반도체 장비, 정밀 제품, 인쇄회로 기판 등의 다양한 표면의 각종 오염막 제거에 널리 사용될 수 있다. 본 장치의 특징은 세정 매체인 $CO_2$와 Carrier gas인 $N_2$를 사용하였고 현재 특허에 출원되어 있는 단순한 액체$CO_2$를 이용한 세정범위를 넘어 다양한 세정매체 즉, 복합인자($CO_2$ + ice, Ar + ice)를 이용하여 세정효율의 다변화를 이루었고 자체 개발한 냉동기를 이용하여 고화율이 액체 $CO_2$보다 상대적으로 낮은 기체 $CO_2$의 고화율을 증대 시킴으로써, 세정매체의 소모시간이 현격히 감소되어 원가절감 효과를 증대 시켰다. 세정대상물을 효과적으로 제거하기 위해 주 세정 매체인 $CO_2$의 수농도를 조절할 수 있는 Multi-Nozzle의 개발과 이로 인하여 세정력의 강도를 조절하도록 하였다. 세정 후 발생되는 오염입자를 효과적으로 제거하도록 국부 Exhaust를 Nozzle전단에 달아 재 오염의 방지효과를 극대화 시켰다.
