  • Hardware for monitoring the water quality is developed using water fleas. Water flea is a frequently used biological sensor for monitoring the water quality. Water fleas quickly respond to the incoming toxic water by changing their activity when they are exposed. By measuring the activity of water fleas, the incoming toxic water is instantly detected in real time. So far the measurement of activity of water fleas has been done with a system equipped with a light source of LED and a light detector of photo transistor. Water flea itself is, however, sensitive to light resulting in incorrect response and the system has two inconvenient separate parts of the light source and the detector. This paper suggests a system using a CCD camera instead of a light source and a detector. The suggested system processes the image data from the CCD camera in real time without any delay. The developed system becomes a part of the remote water monitoring embedded system.

  • Measuring instrument module for biosensor activity is developed using CMOS image sensor and sensor network. Most of living organism in water as water flea, fish, etc are frequently used as biological sensor for monitoring the water qualify. The activity of biosensor is changed by the quality of water. The developed measuring instrument module can easily interface to the existing instrument.

  • CMOS image monitoring system for optimal measuring the activity of biosensor is developed using genetic algorithm. Most of living organism in water as water flea, fish, etc are frequently used as biological sensor for monitoring the water quality. It is very difficult to measure the activity of biosensor by image sensor because the value of measurement is varied with gathering method of biosensor images. The suggested monitoring system can optimally measures the activity of biosensor by genetic algorithm. The system is implemented with FPGA into the small hardware which is excellent in terms of the price and performance.

전자선 전처리 방법을 이용한 염색폐수내 난분해성 물질의 제거

  • 본 연구는 전자선을 이용하여 염색폐수에 함유되어 있는 난분해성 물질을 생물학적으로 분해가 용이한 물질로 전환시키는 한편 전환되어진 물질을 표준 활성슬러지법을 이용하여 생물학적 처리함으로 처리효율을 극대화 하는 전자선이용 염색폐수 정화기술을 개발하기위해 수행하였다. 종합 염색폐수에 1 kGy의 전자선 전처리를 한 후 생물학적 처리를 연계하였을 때 0.1 이상의 생분해도 증가를 나타냈으며 오염부하량 변화에 따른 미생물 활동도역시 안정적이었다. 또한 물벼룩을 이용한 생태독성 평가에서도 2.49의 원폐수 독성이 2.16이하로 감소함을 확인하였다. 난분해성 물질에 대한 전자선 전처리의 효과를 확인하기 위하여 대표적인 난분해성 물질인 TPA 인공폐수를 대상으로 전자선 가속기 전처리한 결과40 % 이상 처리효과를 얻을 수 있었다. 이러한 결과로 보아 전자선 전처리와 생물학적 처리공정의 연계로 보다 효과적인 염색폐수의 처리가 가능할 것으로 사료된다.
