When comparing Korea logistics industry with advanced nations, in size, service scope, network and others, our domestic logistics industry is falling behind, and this problem will deter the efforts of South Korea becoming the logistics hub nation in North-east Asia. This study will focus on current conditions of th foreign and domestic logistics, presents policies and plans which will advance logistics industry in South Korea. The results of this study will promote logistics industry in Korea and attain the aim of being a Logistics Hub nation in North-east Asia.

1990년대 중반을 넘어서면서 성장둔화에 직면한 한국경제의 애로요인으로 인건비, 토지가격, 금리 등 생산요소 가격의 상승, 기술개발의 부족 및 물류애로에 따른 과다한 물류비의 부담 등이 지적되고 있다. 이 세 가지 요인 중에서 생산요소가격의 문제는 거시경제정책의 변수의 성향을 가지고 있으며, 기술개발에 대한 투자와 결실은 단기(Short-Run)에 해결되기는 곤란하므로 개별기업은 물론 정부를 포함하는 제 경제주체의 노력에 따라서 물류비용을 획기적으로 절감하고 그를 통해 국가경쟁력의 회복 또는 강화의 계기를 발견하고자 하는 노력이 다각적으로 펼쳐지고 있다.
