A Study on the Application of Sea Network for an Efficient Maritime Logistics Business (효율적인 항만물류 비즈니스를 위한 해상용 네트워크 적용방안 연구)

  • 전 세계적인 국제교류 활성화와 물동량 증가로 인하여 선박으로 부터의 정보를 직접 또는 실시간으로 획득을 요구하고 있다. 그러나 현재 선박에서의 통신은 고비용 저효율의 네트워크만을 이용함으로써, 즉 기존 선박과 육지의 기지국 간 통신 방법은 통신 거리 및 속도, 비용적인 측면에서 한계를 보이고 있고, 먼 거리 해상에서는 위성을 이용하여 고비용의 통신비용이 발생하고 있다. 이에 따라 본 논문에서는 ad-hoc 네트워크를 해상운송에 적합한 해상용 ad-hoc 네트워크 기술을 소개하고, 이 기술을 활용한 서비스를 제안한다. 이를 통해 저비용의 해상데이터 통신망과 위성 통신망의 연계를 통해 실시간 정보 활용이 가능하며, 화물관리 및 운용에 필요한 물류비용을 감소시키고, 물류생산성 향상을 도모할 수 있다.

  • The automotive supply chain is increasingly complex as automakers seek more profitable solutions with global out-sourcing and manufacturing strategies. In the automotive industry, using returnable plastic containers (RPCs) is very common for domestic operations, but for internationally, it has not been considered by many companies because of issues such as overall distance and difficulty of control. The results of this simulation can help to analyze the interactive and coherent behavior of packaging and supply chain systems. The data obtained from the model can be applied to make substantial decisions for choosing the most profitable packaging types, at the same time as it can lead to designing an optimum supply chain for RPCs used in international supply chains.

Improvement strategy for export logistics system of used car in korea (우리나라 중고자동차 수출물류 혁신방안)

  • The used car export of Korea has rapid growth with the competitive price through economic situation of IMF, but the export volume would be decreased due to the import restriction of used car by Iraqi, Middle Asian countries since 2004. This research would be suggested the proposal of "the used car's innovative export logistics system" to solve the increased supplying of used car and decreasing of used car's export. This proposal of "the used car's innovative export logistics system" present the advanced used car's export logistics center for activation of export and construction of integrated export logistics system to be promoted the export process. As a result of analysis of the economic effectiveness through the activation of used car's export at the port of Incheon, it is forecasted that the concerned companies have the increasing of net profit 27,000 million Korean won; the value added effectiveness 340,000 million Korean won, acceleration of employment 2,200 persons. The policy should be consistent in order to process of "the used car's innovative export logistics system". For promotion of used car's export, not only near vision for solve the current matter, but also the strategic policy and master plan for promotion of used car's export to the international competitiveness strength continuously. The object of this research is directed to "the used car's export integrated logistics system" and "policy" for creation of export logistics complex".

A Study on Multi-modal Transport Logistics Network Buildup of Harbors in Gangwon in the North Pole Route Era (북극해 항로시대와 강원권 항만의 복합운송 물류네트워크 구축전략에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates the initiatives of Gangwon sea routes based on precedent studies on the North Pole route to suggest a multi-modal buildup of transport logistics network of Gangwon harbors for the strengthening of logistics efficiency in the Korean Peninsula. The findings were: First, the government should expand railway infrastructure in Gangwon. Second, harbors in Gangwon should each have one speciality to strengthen connection with other harbors by using railway oriented background transportation network. Third, the government should develop industries of EFEZ(East coast Free Economic Zone) in the East Sea Coast in Gangwon to connect resources from the North Pole Sea. Fourth, the government should invite the base of Araon Ho's polar research vessel to play the role of the North Pole Sea route in the near future. Fifth, the government should strengthen the role of the Samcheock LNG base under construction. SIxth, environment-friendly transportation technology should be introduced to reduce carbon emission as much as possible. Lastly, an optimum North Pole logistics route should be developed to connect the Metropolitan area(Metropolitan Economic Zone), Gangwon roads and railway, Gangwon habor, Trans-Siberian Railway and thw North Pole route, and Europe, to strengthen national foreign trade power in the near future.

  • The advancement in technology including transportation and information communication has accelerated the flow of supplies, and the importance of the national logistics policy has increased following the expansion of the regional range of logistics to a national range. The rapid growth of the domestic logistics market results in the deficit of logistics facilities, inefficient operation of logistics facilities, and a complicated distribution structure. It has precipitated a plan aimed at efficiency improvement by building base logistics facilities, but this market is now undergoing difficulties due to low performance. Many studies on the revitalization of base logistics facilities have been conducted, but a causal analysis focusing on the function overlap of private logistics businesses has been absent. Therefore, this study has analyzed the function overlap of logistics facilities and the irrationality of the system, which resulted from the lost function of Inland Freight bases in the Yeongnam region. By suggesting the cause of disuse of base logistics complexes from the function overlap in the ground transportation of domestic freight, the study can provide the policy implication for the national logistics infrastructure.

A Study on the Revitalization of Yangsan ICD (양산 ICD 활성화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • Yangsan ICD (Inland Container Depot) has played an important role for Busan Port and Korea's port & logistics industries, increasing international logistics competitiveness and containers' transportation competitiveness in Busan region dealing with 1330 thousand TEU in 2005, since its opening in March 2000. However, it is necessary to seek new measures to revitalize Yangsan ICD, since its cargo volume decreased rapidly owing to the opening of Busan New Port and hinterland in 2006. This study constructed an evaluation model using AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) and conducted a survey targeting local businesses and persons concerned in Yangsan ICD to seek measures for revitalization. The results suggest that Yangsan ICD needs to switch functions to logistics centers (terminal facilities, logistics warehouse) for revitalization considering its advantage of facility location. Moreover, by extending the utilization period and securing building-to-land ratio, existing and new businesses' stable activity should be guaranteed. Furthermore, utilizing facilities such as the railway station in ICD, an active railway revitalization policy may increase cargo volume. Yangsan ICD should perform its role as an inland logistics depot through the revitalization of railway freight transportation in the national logistics system focusing on road freight transportation.

  • Structural design requirements for very large floating structures(VLFS) are different corresponding to this purpose and structural type. In this study, the structural design procedure of VLFS is described, composing of the following processes : construction of design conditions. choice of structural types and main materials, estimation of structural design loads, determination of structural arrangements, and scantling of structural members. As an example of practical application, the initial structural design of floating airport and container terminal for Pusan is demonstrated.

An Effective Genetic Algorithm for Solving the Joint Inventory and Routing Problem with Multi-warehouses (다수 물류기지 재고 및 경로 문제의 유전알고리즘에 의한 해법)

  • In this paper we propose an effective genetic algorithm for solving the integrated inventory and routing problem of supply chain composed of multi-warehouses and multi-retailers. Unlike extant studies dealing with integrated inventory and routing problem of supply chain, our model incorporates more realistic aspect such as positive inventory at the multi-warehouses under the assumption of inventory policy of power of two-replenishment-cycle. The objective is to determine replenishment intervals for the retailers and warehouses as well as the vehicles routes so that the total cost of delivery and inventory cost is minimized. A notable feature of our algorithm is that the procedure for evaluating the fitness of objective function has the computational complexity closing to linear function. Computational results show effectiveness of our algorithm.

  • Railroad logistics transporting freight by train takes charge of 10 or 20 percent of domestic cargos. Railroad logistics users such as transport companies including shippers or Inland Container Depot(ICD) use electronic document(EDI or XML) or input data through WEB to process railroad logistics business. However, as business environments evolving into e-business, it is required to upgrade the legacy railroad logistics process. As the increase of using ebXML-based schema format, it is also needed to improve the electronic documents based on DTD format into those of XML schema format. This study deals with information standard for railroad logistics to improve the railroad logistics business. To this purpose railroad business processes were re-defined through the standard business process modeling methodology. Information model was also derived by defining railroad logistics activities from business process model. And Business Information Entities(BIEs) were defined to design new electronic documents according to the extracted information model. An improved system architecture for railroad logistics was proposed as well. The results of this study will provide an effective and flexible business flow to railroad logistics business.

A Study on the Container Yard of Mega-Float Offshore Structure Type (부유체식 Container Yard에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, mega-float offshore structure is studied as one of the effective utilization of the ocean space. And mega-float structure are now being considered for various applications such as floating airports, container yard, offshore cities and so on. This mega-float structure is relatively flexible compared with real floating structures like large ships. when we estimate dynamic responses of these structures in waves, the elastic deformation is important, because vertical dimension is small compared with horizontal. The analysis of the dynamic response as it receives regular wave is studied. The finite element method is used in the analysis of structural section of this model. And the analysis is carried out using the boundary element method int eh fluid division. In order to know the characteristics of the dynamic response of the mega-float structures, effects of wavelength, water depth, and wave direction on dynamic response of the floating structure are studied by use of numerical calculation.
