A Korean Text Input System for Elderly using Grip Type Game Controller (그립형 게임 컨트롤러를 이용한 노인용 한글 입력 시스템)

  • As an advance in medical technology development is being made, and people are increasingly aware of the importance of health, related investments and people's average life expectancy rise, which in turn leads to an increase in elderly people. Also, with a growing number of elderly people enjoying their leisure activities, the utilization of multimedia contents using computers is on the increase, leading to an activated research into the establishment of digital culture for the elderly people. This paper proposes a Korean text input system to enable the elderly to utilize digital contents. Text input interface has conventionally depended on keyboards. However, the keyboard wherein many keys are dispersed creates problems for the elderly, such as a protracted recognition of keys and a lowered concentration when they use the keyboard. To address these problems, in this paper, the grip type controller interface for console games was used and a corresponding alphabet location algorithm was developed. To verify these efforts, a simulator was developed to test 20 elderly people; as a result, their satisfaction over and convenience of using the grip type interface invreased.

  • Recently portable terminal is received attention by wireless networks and mass capacity ROM. In this result, TTS(Text to Speech) system is inserted to portable terminal. Nevertheless high quality synthesis is difficult in portable terminal, users need high quality synthesis. In this paper, we proposed Distributed TTS (DTTS) that was composed of server and terminal. The DTTS on corpus based speech synthesis can be high quality synthesis. Synthesis system in server that generate optimized speech concatenation information after database search and transmit terminal. Synthesis system in terminal make high quality speech synthesis as low computation using transmitted speech concatenation information from server. The proposed method that can be reducing complexity, smaller power consumption and efficient maintenance.

  • 초 고성능 바이오 서열 분석 장비 기술의 발달로 대량의 바이오 정보가 쏟아져 나오고 있으며, 바이오산업의 발달로 개인별 유전체 정보에 의한 맞춤의학의 시대가 도래되고 있다. 수많은 서열에 대한 분석에는 많은 저장장치 및 주기억장치가 필요하므로 슈퍼컴퓨터 급의 서버와 대량의 데이터를 빠르게 처리할 수 있는 프로그램이 필요하다. 이러한 분석에는 염기서열 일치 검색과 이를 기반으로 하는 Alignment와 Assembly 분석이 있으며, 이를 수행하는 기존의 알고리즘 및 대부분의 프로그램들은 염기서열을 문자열로 취급하고, 해쉬 인덱스 테이블, Brujin 그래프의 사용, 버러우즈 휠러 변환(BWT) 등의 기법을 활용하여 효율적인 분석을 도모하였다. 본 논문에서는 염기서열을 문자열이 아닌 k-mer 묶음의 정수형 하나로 변환하여 검색함으로써 저장 공간의 크기를 약 28% 이상으로 줄이고 형 변환 상태에서의 검색을 수행할 수 있는 알고리즘을 제안한다. Assembly 분석 프로그램인 CalcGen 프로그램을 개발하여 본 알고리즘의 효용성 및 효율성을 실험을 통해 검증하였다. 이 연구의 결과는 향후 대량의 유전체 염기서열의 효율적 분석과 저장 및 처리에 또 하나의 새로운 접근 방법을 제안하는데에 그 의미를 둘 수 있다.

Recognition of Various Printed Hangul Images by using the Boundary Tracing Technique (경계선 기울기 방법을 이용한 다양한 인쇄체 한글의 인식)

  • In this paper, we realized a system that converts the character images of the printed Korean alphabet (Hangul) to the editable text documents by using the black and white CCD camera, We were able to abstract the contours information of the character which is based on the structural character by using the boundary tracing technique that is strong to the noise on the character recognition. By using the contours information, we recognized the horizontal vowels and vertical vowels of the character image and classify the character into the six patterns. After that, the character is divided to the unit of the consonant and vowel. The vowels are recognized by using the maximum length projection. The separated consonants are recognized by comparing the inputted pattern with the standard pattern that has the phase information of the boundary line change. We realized a system that the recognized characters are inputted to the word editor with the editable KS Hangul completion type code.

PDA-based Text Extraction System using Client/Server Architecture (Client/Server구조를 이용한 PDA기반의 문자 추출 시스템)

  • Recently, a lot of researches about mobile vision using Personal Digital Assistant(PDA) has been attempted. Many CPUs for PDA are integer CPUs, which have no floating-computation component. It results in slow computation of the algorithms peformed by vision system or image processing, which have much floating-computation. In this paper, in order to resolve this weakness, we propose the Client(PDA)/server(PC) architecture which is connected to each other with a wireless LAN, and we construct the system with pipelining processing using two CPUs of the Client(PDA) and the Server(PC) in image sequence. The Client(PDA) extracts tentative text regions using Edge Density(ED). The Server(PC) uses both the Multi-1.aver Perceptron(MLP)-based texture classifier and Connected Component(CC)-based filtering for a definite text extraction based on the Client(PDA)'s tentativel99-y extracted results. The proposed method leads to not only efficient text extraction by using both the MLP and the CC, but also fast running time using Client(PDA)/server(PC) architecture with the pipelining processing.

  • We have changed a lot in our lives because of a disease called Covid-19.One of the biggest changes is to check the "disaster notification character" service spent in the country every time it is sent in real time. By the way, we cannot accept the characters of other regional disasters other than the area where we live. After visiting other areas, when we returned to the area where we relocated, we experienced difficulty in confirming the flow lines because we could not receive the characters of the flow lines of the corona confirmed persons in the visited areas separately. And if you use the broadcast-type broadcast service, you will not receive unnecessary copper wire information, and you will be able to obtain the characters of the disaster only where we visited. We try to provide app services to provide the public with more accurate and reliable information.

Mobile Phone Uses and Social-Psychological Variables of Teen-Agers (청소년들의 이동전화 이용행태와 사회심리적 변인에 관한 연구: 부산.울산 지역 이용자들을 중심으로)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the mobile phone service usage patterns of Korean teenagers and their motivation to use it, and to explore the relationships between the teenagers' social-psychological characteristics and their trails of mobile phone usage. After reviewing prior theoretical studios, three hypotheses regarding the research questions shown above were generated. Questionnaire study was conducted with 400 high school students in Busan and Ulsan metropolitan areas. They were to answer three categories of questions, such as frequencies of voice calls and text messaging services and the other mobile services, questions asking their social-psychological characteristics, and their motivations for using mobile phone services. Findings show that the teenagers more likely to tend to use voice calls when communicating family members. They tend to avoid those services with high rate of use as multimedia, game, and broadcasting services via mobile phones. The teenagers use mobile phone services for the similar purposes to conventional telephone uses. Therefore, the classical theories showing the alternative purposes or motivations to use conventional telephone usage, which divided the main purposes for phone uses in to two; work/instrumental and socializing/entertaining, proved to be reasonable. The cheap messaging services with texts are popular among the teenagers and are used for socializing/entertaining purposes rather than instrumental/functional purposes. In addition, the teenagers' social-psychological characteristicss are significantly associated with the amount of mobile phone uses. A characteristic of "individual-centeredness" is positively related with non-voice service uses, while "group-centeredness" explains heavy amount of using voice calls and text messaging services. Such characteristics as "immediacy," "directness," "innovativeness," and "other-direction" are positively associated with the frequencies and amounts of mobile phone uses, while "inner-direction" and "tradition-direction" are negatively correlated.

  • Detection of a number plate consists of three stages; division of a number plate, extraction of each character from the plate, recognition of the characters. Among of these three states, division stage of a number plate is the most important part and also the most time-consuming state. This paper suggests an effective region extraction method of a number plate for various images obtained from unmanned inspection systems of illegal parking violation, especially when we have to consider the diverse surrounding environments of roads. Our approaching method detects each region by investigating the characteristics in changes of brightness and intensity between the background part and character part, and the characteristics on character parts such as the sizes, heights, widths, and distance in between two characters. The method also divides a number plate into different types of the plate. This research can solve the number plate region detection failure problems caused by plate edge damages not only for Korean domestic number plates but also for new European style number plates. The method also reduces the time consumption by processing the detection in real-time, therefore, it can be used as a practical solution.

An Analysis on the Design of Motion-Sensing Game Role Selection GUI (체감형 게임에서 캐릭터 선택 GUI 디자인 분석)

  • This paper studies the GUI design of motion-sensing game character selection. The game's GUI plays a role in transferring information in human-computer interaction. The purpose of this game player-oriented GUI design is to optimize the human-computer interaction, make the operation more user-friendly, reduce the user's cognitive burden, and better adapt to the user's operation needs. This paper combines examples to compare and analyze these three games from three aspects: text, color and form. In the existing motion-sensing game games, the character selection GUI has a design feature of high recognition and strong visibility. Finally, suggestions for GUI design of motion-sensing game games are given. It is hoped that in the future, reference materials will be provided for the GUI design of experience game character selection.

  • 최근 들어 인쇄체 문자 인식 기술의 발전에 힘입어 필기체 한글 인식에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 인쇄체 문자와는 달리 자연스럽게 필기된 한글 글씨는 동일한 문자라 하더라도 같은 모양을 가지고 있다고 단정하는 것이 불가능할 정도로 필기자의 필기 유형에 따른 다양한 변형을 내포하고 있다. 따라서 효과적인 한글 글씨 인식기를 개발하기 위해서는 다양한 변형을 포함하는 대용량의 한글 글씨 영상 데이터베이스가 필수적이다. 본 논문에서는 시스템공학연구소 주관 국어 정보 베이스 개발 사업의 일환으로 고려대학교에서 구축 중인 오프라인 한글 글씨 영상 데이터베이스, KU-1에 대해 간략히 소개하고자 한다. 본 데이터베이스는 KS C 완성형 한글 사용 빈도순 상위 1,500자에 대하여 다양한 계층, 직업, 연령, 지역 분포를 고려한 1,000명 이상의 필기자가 정서체와 본인의 평소 자유 필체로 필기한 1,000벌의 명도 한글 글씨 영상으로 구성되어 있다.
