A Propotition of a New Parameter in Ceramic Wear(I) Friction and Wear Characteristics of Silicon Nitride and Zirconia (세라믹 마멸에 있어서의 새로운 파라메터 제안 (I) 질화규소와 지르코니아의 마찰$\cdot$마멸 특성)

  • Under unlubricated condition, the friction and wear tests of silicon nitride and zirconia manufactured by HIP were carried out at room temperature. The wear resistance of silicon nitride was superior to that of zirconia under low load, whereas the wear resistance of zirconia was superior to that of silicon nitride under high load. Wear model of ceramic was suggested by the microscopic SEM observation of worn surfaces and debris. Theoretical analysis and discussions based on linear fracture mechanics were made out about this ceramic wear model. From the theoretical analysis, a new nondimensional parameter, Scf, was introduced to estimate wear rate of ceramics. This new nondimentional parameter consists of contact pressure, surface defect of contact material, frictional coefficient and fracture toughness.

An Experimental Study on Hydrodynamic Behavior of a Slender Cylinder Falling in a Viscoelastic Fluid (점탄성 유체내에서 낙하하는 원통형 미소체의 거동에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • 저속으로 낙하하는 원통형 미소체의 유체역학적 거동에 대하여 점탄성 유체의 비 뉴우튼 성질의 영향에 관해서 연구가 수행되었다. 원통형 미소체의 직경 및 직경에 대한 길 이의 비 (Aspect Ratio)의 영향에 관해서도 또한 고찰하였으며 본 실험에서는 뉴우튼 유체 로서 99.5%의 글리세린용액과 점탄성 유체로서 1,000 wppm 의 polyacyla-mide(Separan AP-273) 수용액이 각각 사용되었다. 낙하하는 미소체의 Aspect Ratio가 증가할수록 무차원 최종속도는 뉴우튼 유체내에서 보다 점탄성 유체내에서 그증가속도가 더욱 커짐을 보였다. 뉴우튼 유체 내에서 낙하하는 원통형 미소체의 마찰저항 계수는 실험데이타로부터 계산된 값과 이론치가 비교적 잘일치하나 점탄성 유체에 관한 마찰저항 계수는 본 실험의 결과치와 무한히 긴 원통형 미소체에 대한 기존연구의 이론값과는 상당한 차이가 있음을 알수 있었 다, 이는 점탄성 유체내에서 수직으로 낙하하는 원통형 미소체의 저항계수가 k(즉 용기의 직경에 대한 미소체 직경의 비), power-law index 레이놀즈수 뿐아니라 aspect ratio를 포함 하는 새로운 관계식이 도출되어야 함을 분명히 보여주고 있다.

Discharge Coefficient of flow through Gate piers (수문을 통한 흐름의 유량계수 분석)

  • This study was aimed to determine a discharge coefficient of flow through gate piers. The coefficient was Calbrated with water stage data observed during 1984 to 1987 at the Young San Estuary Dam. The coefficient is the function of the dimensionless parameters combined with the difference between up and down stream water level to down stream water depth ratio and water surface draw down ratio. From the verification with existing methods and actual drainages, drainages predicted by the relationship have the most consistency with the actual drainages, also Matthai's method can be used within the proposed condition originally.

  • 기존의 고정보 설치에 따른 문제점으로 보 상류의 유속감소로 인한 유사나 오니의 퇴적으로 저류량의 감소, 홍수위 상승, 수질악화, 보 상 하류간 연속성의 단절 등의 개선을 위한 연직가동보에서의 수리특성을 분석하였다. 그에 따라 본 연구에서는 gate의 개도 높이를 조절함으로써 하상 퇴적물을 배출하고 수위와 유량을 조절할 수 있는 하단배출형 가동보를 길이 10 m, 폭 0.4 m, 높이 0.4 m의 가변경사식 수로에 다단식으로 배치하여 유량과 가동보 개도 높이에 따른 수리 특성을 분석하였다. 연직가동보의 개도에 따른 방류량의 수리특성으로 유량계수를 분석하고 그에 따른 보 상류에서 저류특성을 분석하였다. 유량과 연직가동보의 개도에 따른 수리특성으로 도수현상에 따른 수축계수, 도수길이, 도수높이를 분석하고 그에 따른 관계식을 제시하였다. 연직가동보 주변의 수리특성의 분석을 위한 차원해석을 실시하고 지배적인 무차원 변수를 도출하였다.

An Experimental Study for Local Scour of the Riverbed at Pier (교각주변(橋脚周邊) 하상(河床)의 국부세굴(局部洗掘)에 관한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究))

  • This study is an experimental analysis for local scour of the riverbed at pier. The basic equation with dimensionless elements(Pier Reynolds Number, Dimensionless Turbulence Intensity) is derived through dimensional analysis. After testing the goodness of fit of data, the coefficients are determined by multiple regression analysis. In the region where the value of the attack angle is near 20 degrees, there exists a transition region where the slope of equation with Pier Reynolds Number changes from positive to negative and that of equation with Dimensionless Turbulence Intensity changes from negative to positive adversely. As a result of testing the equation suggested on this study by using the data of the Institute of National Construction, it is found that the scour depth and width at pier can be predicted approximately.

High-Order Perturbation Solutions of Liquid Pool Spreading with Continuous Spill (연속적으로 누출되는 액체 풀의 확산에 관한 고차 섭동해)

  • High-order perturbation solutions have been obtained for the simple physical model describing the liquid pool spreading with a continuous spill, and these are shown to improve over first-order perturbation solutions. The non-dimensional governing equations for the model are derived to obtain more general solutions. Non-dimensional parameters are sought as the governing parameters for the non-dimensional equations, and the non-dimensional evaporation rate is used as the perturbation parameter. The results show that the high-order solutions exhibit an improvement over the first-order solutions with respect to the pool volume as well as the spreading radius. In addition, as the order of the perturbation solutions increases, the difference between the numerical solutions and the perturbation solutions is significantly reduced. Finally, it is revealed that the third-order solutions are reasonable because they almost agree with the numerical solutions.

Thermoacoustic Power Generation by a Spiral Heater in the Rijke Tube (Rijke 관에서 나선형 가열기에 의한 열음향 파워의 생성)

  • Thermoacoustic power generation by a spiral heater in the Rijke tube was analyzed numerically. In the analysis, variables were normalized by the angular frequency of the sound and the thermal diffusivity of the air. The effect of the heater wire diameter d, the spacing between wires P-d, and the air-current velocity $U_0$, upon the power generation was obtained and discussed. When the spacing is broad enough, the normalized velocity is $U_0{\approx}0.8$ and the diameter is $d{\approx}4$ for the maximum power generation. With decrease of the spacing, however, the power generation increases more than 5 times and becomes maximum around $d{\approx}2$, $P-d{\approx}3$. And the velocity $U_0{\approx}0.8$ for the maximum power generation is almost independent of the wire spacing.

  • In this study, numerical simulations on the effects of bilge keel on roll motion were conducted. The numerical simulations were performed on a 110 m class PSV using the commercial viscous flow analysis software Star-CCM+. Before conducting the study on the 110 m class PSV, an additional simulation of DTMB 5512 was performed and compared with the experimental results to validate the feasibility of the numerical simulation. In the simulation on PSV, a nondimensional damping coefficient was calculated using a free roll decay simulation, and the response amplitude operator (RAO) for the roll motion was calculated with a nondimensional damping coefficient at two conditions (with/without bilge keel).

Development of Stress Indices for Trunnion Pipe Support (원통형 배관 지지대의 응력계수 개발)

  • A finite element analysis of a trunnion pipe anchor is presented. The structure is analyzed for the case of internal pressure and moment loadings. The stress results are categorized into the average (membrance) and the linearly varying(bending) stresses through the thickness. The resulting stresses are interpreted per Section III of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code from which the Primary (B/sub 1/) and Secondary(C/sub 1/) stress indices for pressure, the Primary(B/sub 2R/, B/sub 2T/) and Secondary(C/sub 2R/, C/sub 2T/) stress indices for moment are developed. Several analyses were performed for various structural geometries in order to obtain empirical representation for the stress indices in terms of dimensionless ratios.
