  • Unmanned combat vehicles is recognized as a key tool to utilize the military combat power in the area of science and technology. It can be expected to minimize the lose of human life and increase the military power. Unmanned combat systems are based on the complex operation concept and the unit system can be manufactured by combination on unmanned combat vehicles. For the unmanned combat systems, military power exists to sustain the acquisition establishment system and unmanned technology, which is considered to give the suitability such as application area.

  • The purpose of this study is to derive the combat effect by applying combat experiments when operating a future manned/unmanned mixed infantry squad that combines the technology according to the development of advanced science and technology along with changes in the 4th industrial revolution. Contrary to conventional battles involving humans and manually-operated weaponry, modern-day warfare relies on unmanned, automated and intelligence technologies. In order to respond to these changes and prepare for future warfare, the combat effect of future manned and unmanned mixed infantry squads through combat experiments in terms of finding ways to supplement the structure of the squad that conducts direct combat as the most basic organization of the army was measured, and it was confirmed that there was an effect to a certain extent. When seeking the development of the future manned/unmanned mixed infantry squad unit structure, if the AWAM model is used in various combat situations, it will help to find a more optimized future manned/unmanned mixed infantry squad unit structure.

Modeling and Analysis of Cooperative Engagements with Manned-Unmanned Ground Combat Systems (무인 지상 전투 체계의 협동 교전 모델링 및 분석)

  • Analysis of combat effectiveness is required to consider the concept of tactical cooperative engagement between manned-unmanned weapon systems, in order to predict the required operational capabilities of future weapon systems that meets the concept of 'effect-based synchronized operations.' However, analytical methods such as mathematical and statistical models make it difficult to analyze the effects of complex systems under nonlinear warfare. In this paper, we propose a combat simulation model that can simulate the concept of cooperative engagement between manned-unmanned combat entities based on wireless communications. First, we model unmanned combat entities, e.g., unmanned ground vehicles and drones, and manned combat entities, e.g., combatants and artillery, considering the capabilities required by the future ground system. We also simulate tactical behavior in which all entities perform their mission while sharing battlefield situation information through wireless communications. Finally we explore the feasibility of the proposed model by analyzing combat effectiveness such as target acquisition rate, remote control success rate, reconnaissance lead time, survival rate, and enemy's loss rate under a small-unit armor reconnaissance scenario. The proposed model is expected to be used in war-game combat experiments as well as analysis of the effects of manned-unmanned ground weapons.

  • 본 논문은 스마트 무인항공기를 개발하거나 획득시에 요구되는 전투실험 수행 중 지능화 정도에 대한 평가 및 실험방향을 제시를 위한 지능화 성숙도 모델을 제안한다. 먼저 표적탐색 소요검증 전투실험 절차를 제시하고, 지능화 정도를 4단계로 나누어 단계별 요구되는 지능수준을 제시한다. 분류된 지능수준별로 기술수준, 동작수준, 상호운용성 수준 영역의 4단계 각 수준별 요구 능력을 분석, 제시하여 지능화 정도를 측정할 수 있는 지능화 성숙도 모델을 설계한다. 마지막으로 표적탐색 소요판단을 위한 전투실험시 활용 가능한 중점분야를 지능화 성숙도 모델 영역별로 식별하고, 단계별 식별된 중점분야를 실험할 수 있는 전투실험 평가요소를 제시한다.

  • The typical missions for the current stand-off UAVs are surveillance and reconnaissance. On the other hand, the primary mission for the future UCAS will be combat mission such as SEAD under the man-made ultimately hostile environment including SAM, antiaircraft artillery, threat radar, etc. Therefore, one of the most important challenges in UCAS design is improvement of survivability. The current studies for aircraft combat survivability are focused on the improvement of susceptibility and vulnerability of manned aircraft system. Although the survivability design methodology for UCAS might be very similar to the manned combat system but there are some differences in mission environment, system configuration, performance between manned and unmanned systems. So the parameters and their sensitivities which affect aircraft combat survivability are different in qualitatively and quantitatively. The susceptibility related parameters for F-16 C/D and X-45A as an example of manned and unmanned system are identified and the susceptibility parameter sensitivities are analyzed by using Monte-Carlo Simulation in this study.

  • 미래 전장은 IT기술 및 생명공학, 무인화, 인공지능 분야의 민간기술 발전이 군사기술 발전과 전투수행 방법을 선도하고, 인공지능 및 인지기술 등 무인화기술의 발전으로 정보수집, 표적식별, 지뢰제거 및 오염제독 등 지원임무는 물론 교전임무를 수행할 수 있는 무인장비가 개발됨으로써 무인전투개념이 가시화되고 있다. 그러므로 이번 논고에서는 무인장비 중 군사용 로봇에 대해 살펴보고 활용 방안을 제시해보고자 한다.

  • The objective of this study was to use the Lanchester equation to predict the outcome of our engagement between our unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) (Blue Group) and enemy UAV (Red Group). Lanchester's law states that the power of corps is proportional to the number of combatants. A second law states that the power of corps is proportional to the square of the number of combatants. The first law is a suitable law for guerrilla warfare while the second law is known as the law suitable for all-out war. Therefore, the second law is commonly used. The second law of Lanchester's was used in this study to predict engagement results. We estimated the battle loss rate value to win the battle as well as the required power number. We also predicted power number to make the damage of our group less than one. The battle loss rate to reliably receive victory when the enemy's UAV and the ally's UAV are equal in number of combat units must be 1: 1.5 or more.

  • In the midst of the development of science and technology based on the 4th industrial revolution, the ROK Army is moving forward with the ARMY TIGER 4.0 system, a ground combat system that combines future advanced science and technology. The system is developing around an AI-based hyper-connected ground combat system, and has mobility, intelligence, and networking as core concepts. Especially, the dronebot combat system is used as a compound word that refers to unmanned combat systems including drones and ground unmanned systems. In future battlefields, it is expected that the use of unmanned and artificial intelligence-based weapon systems will increase. During the transition to a complete unmanned system, it is a very important issue to ensure connectivity individual unmanned systems themselves or between manned and unmanned systems on the battlefield. This paper introduces the Multiplexer Allocation Problem (MAP) for effective command control and communication of UAV/UGV, and proposes a heuristic algorithm. In addition, the performance of the proposed algorithm is analyzed by comparing the solutions and computing time. Also, we discuss future research area for the MAP.

  • 전문 서비스로봇인 국방 무인 로봇은 무기체계 개발 시, 소요군의 운용개념 미확정, 국내 로봇 기술수준(TRL) 및 기술성숙도 미흡 등으로 무인체계의 소요기획 및 전력화 소요 반영이 되지 않고 장기적인 획득 대안으로 생각하고 있으나, 미국의 미래 전투체계(Future Combat System)에서 보듯이 네트워크 중심전(NCW)으로의 전장 환경변화 등 무인전투체계의 통신 및 소프트웨어(복합체계 공통운용환경(SOSCOE: System of Systems Common Operating Environment))의 중요성은 더욱 커지고 있다. 국가적으로는 국방 무인 로봇을 시장확산분야로 인식하고 있으며, 그동안 해외 도입 위주의 국방 무인 로봇 시장에 대한 중요성이 부각되고 있어, 우리나라 창조경제 발전의 견인차 역할로 무인체계 시장의 선점 및 새로운 고용시장을 창출할 수 있는 기반으로 투자를 확대하고 있다. 따라서, 본 논고를 통하여 무인체계에 대한 체계개발 활성화 방안에 기여하기 위한 선제적인 방법으로 연구개발 방향을 설정하고, 기술개발 방향 및 획득 우선순위 등 개발전략을 수립하고 그 대안을 제시하고자 한다.
