  • Currently green growth and energy saving are major issues and solution using low-power LED lighting devices are gaining popularity. There are a few standards to control these LED lighting equipment and DMX512 protocol is a typical communication control standard used. DMX512 lighting control protocol is one of standard protocols widely used in various fields which include mainly stage lighting and landscape lighting. But in DMX512 protocol, line is to be connected to a wired connection. Advantage of wired connection is stable data transfer operation but it adds complexity and certain constraints as well in wired connection. To solve this problem, wired connection can be replaced efficiently with a wireless connection but for wireless, problem of data loss and two way communications arises. In this paper, these problems of wireless communication for DMX512 have been addressed and solutions for two way communications and data loss problem have been proposed.

  • DMX512 protocol controls a lighting system for outdoor lightings and stage lightings. But lighting systems using DMX512 protocol based wired needs expensive cost in installation, maintain, repair. And it has restrictions about control channel numbers and its ranges. Also, it needs additional equipments for the control of lighting systems which installed on wide area. In this paper, we propose wireless control technique and a ZDMX module for lighting systems on wide area based on DMX512 protocol. Our technique solves problems of DMX512 protocol, and it can control lighting systems on wide area effectively. We developments the LED lighting system using ZDMX modules and we have confirmed the suitability of our technique for real environment.

  • LED 무빙라이트는 기존 할로겐 램프를 사용하는 무빙라이트에 비해 에너지 소모율이 낮고 효율성이 높아 무대용 및 방송용으로 각광을 받기 시작했다. DMX512 프로토콜은 LED를 제어하는 표준 프로토콜 중의 하나이며 무대조명용, 방송조명용, 경관조명용 등의 분야에서 이용되고 있다. 그러나 DMX512 프로토콜은 유선 환경에서 제어되기 때문에 넓은 지역의 조명은 제어하는데 어려움이 존재하며 제어선들의 복잡성, 유지/보수의 어려움 등의 문제점이 존재한다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 유선 환경에서의 문제점을 해결하기 위해 무선통신을 이용하여 DMX512 프로토콜을 무선으로 제어할 수 있는 조명제어시스템을 설계한다.

  • LED는 기존의 광원에 비해 에너지 소모율이 낮고 효율성이 높아 여러 조명 시스템 분야에서 각광을 받고 있다. DMX512 프로토콜은 LED를 제어하는 표준 프로토콜 중의 하나이며 무대 조명, 경관 조명 분야에서 이용되고 있다. 하지만 DMX512 프로토콜은 유선 환경에서 제어되기 때문에 넓은 지역의 조명을 제어하는데 한계가 존재하며 제어 선들의 복잡성, 유지/보수의 어려움 등의 문제점이 존재한다. 이 논문에서는 이러한 유선 환경에서의 문제점을 해결하기 위해 Zigbee를 이용하는 Z-DMX512 프로토콜을 정의하고 이를 이용한 조명 제어 시스템을 설계한다.

A Design of Heat-Sink and DMX512 Communication Control for High-Power LEDs (고출력 LED 방열 및 DMX512 통신 제어 설계)

  • Recently, various applications for LED lightings are growing continuously due to their better performances such as low power consumption, longer life time, operation speed, controllability, high quality color rendering, and sustainability. However, in developing the high-powered LEDs illumination system, heat-sink problem is one of the important obstacle. In this paper, a heat-sink design with multi-layered structure for high-powered LEDs is proposed, which is composed of metal core PCB, heat-pipes, heat-sink plates, and fans. And also, in this paper, a design for LED controls using DMX512 protocols through RS-485 communications is proposed, which is considered as de facto international standard in LEDs illumination control and is widely used in landscape lighting and stage lighting. In this paper, LED control and its application techniques are introduced and the method of wireless remote control for main controller is proposed.

  • DMX512 protocol is a typical protocol which controls LED lighting system. It has a strong feature and can be used to a lot of lighting system. But LED control system with cable has a few problem because they have a lot of control cables. It is very difficult to set up the complex lighting. Furthermore if it is set up it is not easy to keep and recover the system from the out of order. So it is required Wireless Lighting Control System. This paper describes the proposal, design, and implementation of a novel method which can provide versatile light effects with the increased capability of the mobility and the number of universes for Wireless Lighting system. And then we implement experiment environment to control indoor lighting system controled by ZigBee and WLAN converter not having complicating control line. Data frames are transferred to DMX512 device by encapsulation and decapsulation to control color LED. In the same time give the method to solve the data bottleneck problem which can be comes out because of speed difference between Heterogeneous network and measure performance of control system.
