Influence of Inorganic Filler on Properties of EPDM Compounds (무기 충전제가 EPDM 배합물의 특성에 미치는 영향)

  • EPDM compounds and vulcanizates containing inorganic filler such as talc, calcium carbonate, or clay as well as carbon black were prepared, and the influence of inorganic filler on properties of the EPDM compounds and vulcanizates were investigated. The bound rubber contents did not significantly increase even though the inorganic filler was added. There were big aggregates in the EPDM samples with high loading inorganic filler. By adding the inorganic filler, the cure times tended to increase and the delta torque decreased. The modulus were on the whole decreased, whereas the elongation at break, tensile strength, and tear strength were increased by adding the inorganic filler. The decreased modulus and increased elongation at break can be explained with the decreased delta torque, the increases of tensile strength and tear strength can be explained with the increased elongation at break. By adding the inorganic filler, level of reinforcing in the EPDM compounds did not increase and the crosslink density decreased.

냉음극형 X-선 튜브의 제작을 위한 CNT 페이스트의 무기 충전제에 대한 연구

  • X-선 튜브는 의료 영상 및 치료, 산업용 제전 장치, 비파괴 X-선 영상 장치 등에서 사용되는데 기존의 열전자원을 이용한 X-선 튜브와는 달리, 냉음극형 X-선 튜브는 빠른 속도의 디지털 구동이 가능하며 전력 소비가 낮은 장점이 있다. 따라서, 최근 많은 연구자들에 의해서 냉음극형 X-선 튜브에 관한 연구가 활발하게 진행되고 있다. 냉음극형 X-선 튜브는 전계 방출을 이용한 전자원을 사용하며, 탄소나노튜브 (CNT), Si, 다양한 종류의 나노선 등이 대표적이다. 그 중에서 CNT는 높은 종횡비로 인해 전계 방출 특성이 우수하여 가장 대표적인 물질이다. CNT를 이용한 전자원을 제작하기 위해서는 직접 성장법, 전기영동법, 스크린 프린팅법, 디핑법 등 다양한 방법이 존재한다. 직접 성장법을 제외한 방법들은 모재료인 CNT와 용매, 금속재료들을 섞어 페이스트나 수용액의 상태를 제작하여야 한다. 이 때, 금속 재료는 기판과 CNT간의 접착 및 전자 전도 통로의 역할을 하는 무기 충전제이며 일반적으로 나노 혹은 수 마이크로미터 크기의 상태로 존재하는 것을 주로 사용한다. X-선 튜브 제작은 일반적으로 외벽을 유리 혹은 세라믹을 주로 사용하는데 아노드 전극 및 캐소드 전극 등과 결합하여 진공 밀봉된 형태가 되어야 한다. 브레이징 방법은 금속과 세라믹을 결합하는데 매우 유용한 방법이며, 그 중에서도 진공 브레이징 방법은 다량의 부품을 한 번에 결합시킬 수 있다. 하지만 진공 브레이징 공정의 온도는 약 $700{\sim}1,000^{\circ}C$이며 이는 금속 재료가 충분히 증발할 수 있는 온도가 된다. 본 발표에서는 고온 진공 상태에서의 무기 충전제의 증발에 대한 현상을 관찰하고 고온진공 상태에서 증발없이 무기 충전제로의 역할을 할 수 있도록 다양한 금속 및 합금에 대한 연구를 수행하였다. 또한, 이 연구를 통해 선택된 무기 충전제를 포함하여 CNT 페이스트를 볼밀링 방법을 이용하여 제작하였으며, 이를 이용한 CNT 에미터가 X-선 튜브의 전자원으로 사용될 수 있는지 확인하기 위해 전계 방출 실험을 함께 실시하였다. 제작된 CNT 에미터가 우수한 전계 방출 특성을 가지고 있음을 확인하였으며, 이는 본 연구를 통해 선택된 금속 및 합금 재료가 무기 충전제로의 역할을 잘 수행하고 있음을 보여준다.

Selection and Conservation for the Filler of Three-storied Stone Pagoda at the West of Gameunsaji Site in Gyeongju (경주 감은사지서삼층석탑 충전제 선정과 보존처리)

  • The open pore of stone cultural heritage is not expected to have an effect only by consolidation, and it has a drawback that only the internal wall adheres and gets consolidated due to the incrase of liquidity caused by the low viscosity and difference of materials in the case of filling with high molecules synthetic resins. Therefore, this research selected the effective filler for Three-storied Stone Pagoda at the West of Gameunsaji Site through the verification of filling effects of materials using the information about various fillers based on minerals. As the result of filler experiment, got filled with the combination of KSE 500 STE + KSE Filler A${\cdot}$KSE Filler B that is the same as the Member or has very similar properties. The total surface area of the west stone is $252.6m^2$ and the area where the internal opening has been developed is $17.77m^2$(7.03%) requiring a task that fills the internal($24,885m{\ell}$).

  • The physical properties of polymeric foams depend on the density of foams, physical properties of base polymers, the content of open cells, and cell structures including the size and its distribution, the shape of cell, and the thickness of skin layer. The foam density is affected by the chemistry of raw materials, the concentration of crosslinking agent and the blowing agent as well as the operating parameters during production process. In this study, the basic formulations of foams are composed of polyester polyol, MDI, amine catalyst, tin catalyst, silicone surfactant, and water. Cross-linking density of polyurethane was increased by using chain extenders. Also, the mechanical properties of polyurethane foam were improved by using the inorganic fillers (silica 1,2 and talc 1,2) having different $SiO_2$ contents and particle sizes. We investigated the properties of modulus, tensile strength, compressive strength and hardness of foams obtained by changing kind of inorganic filler and chain extender, and observed the distribution of inorganic filler as well as variation of cell size within the foams by electron microscopy.

Effect of Fillers on Dispersion of Carbon Nanotubes in a Twin-Screw Extruder (이축압출기에서 카본나노튜브의 분산에 대한 충전제 효과)

  • In this study, it was attempted to disperse carbon nanotubes (CNTs) in a polymer matrix using a twin-screw extruder which was good for dispersing fillers of micron sizes but not suitable for dispersing nanometer-sized materials. Improved dispersion of CNTs could be achieved by the addition of inorganic fillers with different geometrical shapes. An increase in the matrix viscosity provided a high shear stress on aggregated CNTs, leading to a good dispersion of CNTs. The presence of the inorganic fillers was supposed to suppress the re-aggregation of CNTs in the regions where a lower shear stress was applied. As a result, the CNTs dispersion was well stabilized.

A Study on the Composition for Improving the Performance of Inorganic Binders for Conservation Treatment of Stone Cultural Heritages (석조문화재 보존처리용 무기질바인더의 성능개선을 위한 조성물 연구)

  • This study attempted to apply a hybrid technology that integrated mineral-based fillers and water-repellent agents to control the efflorescence that results from the use of inorganic binders, for the conservation treatment (surface finishing) of cultural heritage materials made up of stone. Herein, different types of mixing ratios of a filler (silica fume 3.4%) and a water repellent (silane-siloxane 1%) were selected for fabricating the inorganic binder, and it was determined that the ratio selected by weight is effective in controlling efflorescence substances. In addition, it was identified that the inorganic binder with the mixing ratio resulted in a higher compressive strength than the standard (20MPa), and the water permeability resistance was high with low water absorption. The result of ion elution from the bilder showed that a smaller number of ions was observed to affect the efflorescence (directly and indirectly) as compared to that of the control group, which was considered to be relatively stable.

  • The effects of high filler loading technique on the reliability of epoxy molding compound (EMC) as a microelectronic encapsulant was investigated. The method of high filler loading was established by the improvement of maximum packing fraction using the simplified packing model proposed by Ouchiyama, et al. With the maximum packing fraction of filler, the viscosity of EMC wart lowered and the flowability was improved. As the amount of filler in EMC increased, several properties such as internal stress and moisture absorption were improved. However, the adhesive strength with the alloy 42 leadframe decreased when the filler content was beyond the critical value. It was found that the appropriate content of filler was important to improve the reilability of EMC, and the optimum filler combination should be selected to obtain high reliable EMC filled with high volume fraction of filler.

  • In this study, wasted stone powders (WSP) obtained from sludge and Wasted Tire Chips (WTC) as fillers have been used to formulate polymer hybrid composites based on Unsaturated Polyester (UPE) resin. To further enhance not only the interfacial bond between the inorganic filler and the polymer matrix, but also the filler dispersion by wetting the particulate surfaces to uniformly spread the resin during the mixing, silane coupling agent[${\gamma}$-methacryloxy propyl trimethoxy silane (${\gamma}$-MPS)] was used. The influences of organic recycled fillers contents and the concentrations of coupling agent in polymer hybrid composite formulations have been investigated from a mechanical and microstructural point o view through Mercury Porosimeter and SEM.

Physical and Environmental Properties According to Borax Addition Ratios of Inorganic Filling Adhesive using Magnesia Silicate Phosphate (마그네시아 실리케이트 인산염을 활용한 무기충전 접착재의 붕사 첨가율에 따른 물리·환경적 특성)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an inorganic filling adhesive using MKP and borax based on Dead-burn magnesia and fly ash. First, basic experiments was conducted to derive the proper addition rate of MKP. And this experiment was carried out according to addition ratio of borax. The test items are measured for pot life, flexural strength, compressive strength, adhesive strength, tensile strength, ratio of temperature change, ratio of hardening shrinkage, radon gas and formaldehyde emission. As a result, the proper addition rate of phosphate was 35%. The pot time is about 10minutes, 15minutes and 25minutes according to addition rate of borax. The flexural strength and compressive strength were obtained at 12hours for minimum flexural strength of 8.0MPa and minimum compressive strength of 31.0MPa. The tensile strength was the least 4.1MPa, and the ratio of hardening shrinkage was maximum 2.4% and ratio of heat change was maximum - 0.3%, which satisfied all of the quality standards of 'KS F 4923' (epoxy resin for repairing concrete structures). Both Radon gas and formaldehyde emission was not detected.

  • Polymer composites are widely used as industrial materials requiring high mechanical properties. Glass fibers and fillers, which are used as a reinforcement in composites, usually have some problems such as nonuniform dispersion and poor interfacial adhesion. In this study, an acrylic acid-modified polyethylene wax was synthesized by the sequential reaction of pyrolysis of polyethylene followed by grafting with a polar acrylic acid. The acrylic acid-modified polyethylene wax was applied to polymer composites of the polyamide matrix and glass fiber reinforcement. The effect of acrylic acid-modified polyethylene wax on physical properties of polyamide based composites was thoroughly investigated.
