This paper is aimed the measurement and estimation the thermal interrelation based on leakage current. The leakage models are analyzed by parameters in open and closed (Panel) states and with wood dust and rainwater, charcoal powder in leakage current occurred point. The thermal characteristic of open state that leakage current is inputted in 90 mA is higher in charcoal powder ($105^{\circ}C$) than in wood dust and rainwater ($88.8^{\circ}C$). Charcoal powder that is inputted in 110 mA shows high thermal characteristic ($238.6^{\circ}C$) and the thermal ($238.6^{\circ}C$) is caused by material strain of electrical wire insulation and Panel. The closed state in 90 mA is higher in charcoal powder ($250.6^{\circ}C$) than in wood dust and rainwater ($90.8^{\circ}C$). The open and closed state appear thermal characteristics of two times in charcoal powder than in wood dust and rainwater. The thermal data that are open and close states are used electrical fire investigation and thermal characteristic for Leakage current.
This study was carried out to investigate the effect of energy saving and sound insulation of building materials mixed with charcoal. To investigate the functionality of building based on the difference of construction materials, three different experimental buildings were constructed. They were buildings built with the conventional construction materials (A), the charcoal construction materials (B), and the charcoal-sericite construction materials (C). The study showed that energy consumption could be reduced approximately 9.5% and 14.5% by replacing A with B and C, respectively. Especially, it is revealed that the lower outdoor temperature was, the higher energy saving effect was. Also, after shutoff the boiler switch the decrease rate of room temperature of the one using B was lower than those of others using A and C so that the room temperature at the building using B was higher by $3.5{\sim}4.2^{\circ}C$ in the 1 meter air above the ground and by $4.4{\sim}5.4^{\circ}C$ on the floor surface after 12 hours passed. In the building noise test the heavy-and light-weight impact sound of the plate, represented by criterion of noise between floors in multi-story building, tended to decrease in the test sample containing charcoal.

For investigation of adsoption properties of cadmium elimination by wood charcoal, $25m{\ell}$ aqueous cadmium solutions in various concentrations were treated with 0.2 g wood charcoal of Red Oak (Quercus mongolica) for 280 minutes. Almost 100% of cadmium elimination ratio was obtained in the solutions with initial concentration of 20 and 40 ppm in the treatment, whereas they were 75 and 50% in those of 80 and 160 ppm. In the effect of treatment time, the highest amount of cadmium ions was eliminated during the first ten minutes in each solution so that the elimination ratio of each case was over 70% of the maximum elimination value. From the analysis of adsorptive cadmium adsorption mechanism using the Langmuir adsorption isotherm, it was suggested that cadmium ion molecules were adsorbed at the active sites on the charcoal particle in form of one layer. The Gibbs free energy of the adsorption process was calculated in negative value for each solution. This means the adsorption processes are spontaneous which do not require the extra input energy.
In this study, it was examined the effect of carbonized wastewoods on soil improvement and effect of charcoal size on tree seedling growth Thuja accidentalis seedlings grow better in the charcoal-treated soil than in the non-treated soil. Especially Pinus koraiensis charcoal with good adsorption. brought the best growth result. The charcoal treatment also improved the height growth of transplanted Aesuculus turbinate seedling However charcoal sizes(i.e. powder and particle) did not affect the growth of the seedling. Also apple trees which had been suffering from rotten roots caused by root rot was recovered by application particle-sized charcoal.

This research was performed by means of several different virgin granular activated carbons (GAC) made of each coal, coconut and wood, and the GACs were investigated for an adsorption performance of bromate in a continuous adsorption column. Breakthrough behavior was investigated that the breakthrough points of the virgin two coals-, coconut- and wood-based GACs were observed as 9252 bed volume (BV), 6821 BV, 5291 BV and 2431 BV, respectively. The experimental results of adsorption capacity (X/M) for bromate showed that two coal- based GACs were highest (1334.5 and 798.2 ${\mu}g$/g), the coconut-based GAC was intermediate (668.6 ${\mu}g$/g) and the wood-based GAC was lowest (156.8 ${\mu}g$/g). The X/M of the coal-based GACs was 2~8.5 times higher than the X/M of the coconut-based and wood-based GACs. The results of carbon usage rates (CURs) for the virgin two coal-, coconut- and wood-based GACs were shown as 0.19, 0.25, 0.33 and 0.71 g/day respectively. The adsorption capacity, k values, were also investigated by means of the GACs for bromate. The k values of two coal-, coconut- and wood- based GACs for bromate were found to be 121.3, 76.7, 43.3 and 14.6 respectively. This results suggested that using the virgin GAC made of coal was the best selection for removal of bromate in the water treatment for an advanced treatment.

Adsorption performance of sulfonamide antibiotic compounds such as sulfadimethoxine(SDM), sulfachloropyridazine(SCP), sulfamethazine(SMT), sulfathiazole(STZ) and sulfamethoxazole(SMX) on granular activated carbon(GAC) was evaluated in this study. The coal-based activated carbon was found to be more effective than other carbons in adsorption of sulfonamide antibiotic compounds. The wood-based activated carbon was less effective than coconut- and coal-based carbon in adsorption nevertheless having larger pore volume and specific surface area than others carbons. The maximum adsorption capacities(X/M) of coal-based activated carbon for the five sulfonamide species was 1.3$\sim$1.5 and 1.8$\sim$2.1 times larger than coconut- and wood-based activated carbon, respectively. Carbon usage rates (CUR) of coal-, coconut- and wood-based activated carbons for SCP were 3.55 g/day, 4.29 g/day and 6.47 g/day, respectively. Similar results were obtained in the adsorption of the rest four sulfonamide species. It is concluded that coal-based activated carbon could removed the sulfonamide antibiotic compounds better than other material-based activated carbons.
This research was performed to evaluate adsorption behavior of woody charcoals obtained from wood powder, fiber and bark of spruce (Abies sibirica Ledeb). The wood materials were carbonized at various temperatures for 1 hour using experimental rotary kiln without any inert gas. The adsorption capacity of iodine and toluene, specific surface area and removal efficiency of acetic acid and ammonia gas of those charcoals were measured. The higher was the temperature for carbonization, the lower yields of charcoals were. Ash content of bark charcoal was higher than that of wood powder charcoal or fiber charcoal. Elemental analysis of woody charcoal revealed that the content of carbon was gradually lincreased as carbonization temperature was higher. When carbonization temperature was higher, adsorption capacity of woody charcoals for iodine was much improved. Wood powder charcoal and fiber charcoal were more effective for iodine adsorption rather than bark charcoal. Capacity of toluene adsorption was the highest in the charcoal of $600^{\circ}C$. Charcoals produced at high temperature efficiently removed acetic acid gas, while charcoals carbonized at low temperature such as $400^{\circ}C$ were proper to remove ammonia gas. This difference may be explained that the acidity of charcoals depends on the carbonization temperature: charcoals of low temperature indicate acidic property, while those of high temperature turned to alkaline.

This study was done to investigate perchlorate contamination in Nakdong river. The perchlorate was detected in Nakdong river and ranged from ND to $82.1{\mu}g/L$. The highest concentration was observed in Wheguan. The perchlorate concentration was decreased with the down stream of Nakdong river. Three different virgin activated carbons made of each coal(Calgon), coconut(Samchully) and wood(Picabiol) based activated carbon(AC) were tested for an adsorption performance of perchlorate in a continuous adsorption column. Breakthrough behavior was investigated that the breakthrough points of coal, coconut and wood based AC as 2,300 bed volumn(BV), 719 BV and 288 BV respectively. Adsorption capacity(X/M) of real, coconut and wood based AC was observed. The experimental results of adsorption capacity showed that coal based AC was highest$(768.2{\mu}g/g)$, coconut based AC was intermediate$(299{\mu}g/g)$ and wood based AC was lowest$(99.2{\mu}g/g)$. Moreover, carbon usage rates(CURs) for coal, coconut and wood based AC had been shown as 0.71 g/day, 2.16 g/day and 3.45 g/day respectively. The constant characteristic of the system, k of coal, coconut and wood based ACs were found to be 307.2, 102.5 and 94.2, respectively.
Carbon content, properties of micro-pore, and chemical properties of the charcoal prepared from wood powder, wood fiber, and bark of Abies sibirica Ledeb at different temperatures were investigated. The yield of charcoal decreased with increasing the carbonization temperature. The yield of bark charcoal was higher than those of wood and wood fiber charcoal. The content ratio of carbon atom in the charcoal increased with increasing the carbonization temperature, whereas those of hydrogen and oxygen atom were decreased. Ash content of bark charcoal was also higher than those of wood and wood fiber charcoal. The specific surface area of wood and wood fiber charcoal was greater than that of bark charcoal. In all charcoal, the specific surface area and the volume of micro-pore were highest when the carbonization temperature was $600^{\circ}C$, however they tended to decrease when the temperature was reached to $800^{\circ}C$. For the functionality test of chemical groups on the charcoal surface, adsorption test have performed against acidic (HCl) and basic chemicals (NaOH, $Na_2CO_3$, and $NaHCO_3$). As carbonization temperature increased, adsorption amount of HCl increased, while adsorption amounts of NaOH, $Na_2CO_3$, and $NaHCO_3$ were decreased. The charcoal prepared at higher temperature showed basic properties, while the charcoals manufactured at lower temperature presented acidic properties. Therefore, it was considered that the carbonization temperature affected the pH of charcoal.
This study was examined to investigate the effect of wood carbonization products on growth and body composition of oliver flounder(Paralichthys olivaceus) as a part of fishery utilization of charcoal and pyroligneous acid. Weight gain in oliver flounder fed with wood carbonization products was higher than that of the control group. Feed efficiency between the groups fed with charcoal and Mogchotan(the mixture of charcoal and pyroligneous acid, 80:20, w/w) and the control group showed no significant difference(p>0.05) and was significantly higher in group fed with pyroligneous acid than the control group(p<0.05). All groups fed with wood carbonization products were also higher than the control group in hemoglobin and hematocrit. Especially, the amount of both components was significantly higher in group fed with Mogchotan(p<0.05). The result indicates that the addition of Mogchotan can improve the health of oliver flounder, and was excellent in the mortality and the recovery rate. In conclusion, Mogchotan treatment would be suitable way for improving the growth and health of oliver flounder.
