m-Health System for Processing of Clinical Biosignals based Android Platform (안드로이드 플랫폼 기반의 임상 바이오신호 처리를 위한 모바일 헬스 시스템)

  • Management of biosignal data in mobile devices causes many problems in real-time transmission of large volume of multimedia data or storage devices. Therefore, this research paper intends to suggest an m-Health system, a clinical data processing system using mobile in order to provide quick medical service. This system deployed health system on IP network, compounded outputs from many bio sensing in remote sites and performed integrated data processing electronically on various bio sensors. The m-health system measures and monitors various biosignals and sends them to data servers of remote hospitals. It is an Android-based mobile application which patients and their family and medical staff can use anywhere anytime. Medical staff access patient data from hospital data servers and provide feedback on medical diagnosis and prescription to patients or users. Video stream for patient monitoring uses a scalable transcoding technique to decides data size appropriate for network traffic and sends video stream, remarkably reducing loads of mobile systems and networks.

A Study of Performance Analysis on Effective Multiple Buffering and Packetizing Method of Multimedia Data for User-Demand Oriented RTSP Based Transmissions Between the PoC Box and a Terminal (PoC Box 단말의 RTSP 운용을 위한 사용자 요구 중심의 효율적인 다중 수신 버퍼링 기법 및 패킷화 방법에 대한 성능 분석에 관한 연구)

  • PoC(Push-to-talk Over Cellular) is an integrated technology of group voice calls, video calls and internet based multimedia services. If a PoC user can not participate in the PoC session for various reasons such as an emergency situation, lack of battery capacity, then the user can use the PoC Box which has a similar functionality to the MM Box in the MMS(Multimedia Messaging Service). The RTSP(Real-Time Streaming Protocol) method is recommended to be used when there is a transmission session between the PoC box and a terminal. Since the existing VOD service uses a wired network, the packet size of RTSP-based VOD service is huge, however, the PoC service has wireless communication environments which have general characteristics to be used in RTSP method. Packet loss in a wired communication environments is relatively less than that in wireless communication environment, therefore, a buffering latency occurs in PoC service due to a play-out delay which means an asynchronous play of audio & video contents. Those problems make a user to be difficult to find the information they want when the media contents are played-out. In this paper, the following techniques and methods were proposed and their performance and superiority were verified through testing: cross-over dual reception buffering technique, advance partition multi-reception buffering technique, and on-demand multi-reception buffering technique, which are designed for effective picking up of information in media content being transmitted in short amount of time using RTSP when a user searches for media, as well as for reduction in playback delay; and same-priority packetization transmission method and priority-based packetization transmission method, which are media data packetization methods for transmission. From the simulation of functional evaluation, we could find that the proposed multiple receiving buffering and packetizing methods are superior, with respect to the media retrieval inclination, to the existing single receiving buffering method by 6-9 points from the viewpoint of effectiveness and excellence. Among them, especially, on-demand multiple receiving buffering technology with same-priority packetization transmission method is able to manage the media search inclination promptly to the requests of users by showing superiority of 3-24 points above compared to other combination methods. In addition, users could find the information they want much quickly since large amount of informations are received in a focused media retrieval period within a short time.

  • Recently, in order to provide the mobile multimedia service cost-effectively, the user's demand has been greatly increasing to use wireless LAN (WLAN). But existing WLAN (Wireless LAN) is vulnerable to attack of outside, as users are connecting AP using Open Authentication. In this article, we have designed and implemented WLAN Information Sharing System using social network service (SNS) which is efficiently managing. WLAN secure key. A proposed WLAN Information Sharing System model has been proposed in which the social trust strength between people is employed for WLAN access control.

  • 근래 주목받는 키워드인 유비쿼터스(Ubiquitous), UCC(User Created Contents) 등은 기술적 발달과 함께한 사람들의 행동 양식 변화를 잘 반영하고 있다. 기술적인 측면에서 모바일 환경으로의 진화는 사람들에게 시공간적 제약을 없애주었으며, '호모 루덴스'로 표현된 유희적 인간의 개념은 현대인의 행동 양식을 잘 표현했다. 이중 지상파 이동 멀티미디어 방송(Digital Multimedia Broadcasting, DMB)은 방송에 있어서 시공간적 제약을 없앤 대표적인 사례이며, 'EDUTAINMENT(에듀테인먼트)'는 교육에 유희를 결합한 실례라고 하겠다. 특히 DMB는 정보와 유희의 욕구를 기본적으로 충족시킬 수 있는 방송이라는 매체를 이용한다는 점에서 에듀테인먼트의 기술적 기반이 될 수 있으며, 이를 통해 저 연령의 학습자에게 유희와 교육을 동시에 제공함으로써, 학습효과를 높일 수 있는 장점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 DMB 시스템을 위한 유아 대상의 에듀테인먼트 어플리케이션을 설계하고, 구현한다. 이 어플리케이션을 위해 스토리텔링, 음악과 악기 선택 시스템, 타임라인 및 자유표면 게임 시스템 등 DMB 시스템에 적절하며, 에듀테인먼트의 조건을 충족하는 몇 가지 방법론을 제안하여 방송을 통해 콘텐츠와 대상자가 서로 상호작용 할 수 있도록 한다. 이를 위해서는 기존 방송의 음성, 영상 서비스를 넘어 상호작용의 필수적인 요소라고 할 수 있는 데이터 서비스를 요구하며, 이는 MPEG-4 Part 11: BIFS(Binary Format for Scenes) 기술을 기반으로 그 구현에는 VRML에 기초한 BT(BIFS Text) 언어를 사용한다.

  • 최근 PDA(Personal Digital Assistants)와 같은 휴대형 단말기들은 다양한 멀티미디어 기술과 무선 인터넷 기술의 영향으로 정보단말기로서 각광을 받고 있다. 그러나 현재의 단말기는 프로세서와 메모리의 한계로 인하여 원활한 음성인식 시스템을 구축하기에는 한계가 있다. 이를 보완하는 방법으로 본 논문에서는 Client/server로 분리된 음성 인식 시스템을 구축하였다. 구축한 시스템은 무선 네트워크 환경을 이용하여 PDA(Personal Digital Assistants)에서 음성 파일 또는 특징 파라미터를 Serve 측으로 전송하여 Server측에서 음성 인식을 수행한 후 그 결과를 모바일 단말기로 되돌려 주는 시스템이다. 구성된 시스템을 평가하기 위해서는 국어 공학센터의 음성 DB(KLE 452DB)를 이용하여 음향 모델을 생성한 후 다양한 환경(연구실, 복도, 주차장 도서관 로비)에서 발성한 후 이를 교내 무선 인터넷망(Nespot)을 통하여 송신하여 실시간 인식하였다. 실험 결과, 각각 $84.04\%\;72.28\%\;69.47\%\;67.61\%$의 평균 인식률을 얻을 수 있었다.

  • Recently, lots of embedded processors which can run streaming multimedia with high resolution display are introduced. Among the applications running on these embedded processors, real-time audio streaming is one of the applications that suffer from the lack of energy and memory space. In this paper, we propose a novel data compression method on scratch-pad memory, which saves both useful space on the scratch-pad memory and energy. We have implemented the data compression scheme on the GDM1202 real-time audio streaming processor, and the performance results show that we obtained 13.3% energy saving while maintaining comparable application performance to that of the non-compression case.

  • Recently, multimedia data service using mobile terminal has been increased according to the development of wireless network technology which can be used in an indoor or outdoor environment. However, the wireless network shares the channel and it has a high error rate because of characteristics of transmission media. Therefore, it has a lot of problems for guaranteeing QoS(Quality of Services) in various requirements. This paper suggests a CSD-WRR(Channel State Dependent-WRR) method for compensating the service rate considering the transmission deadline. Simulation results show that the suggested method outperforms the conventional WRR in the view of the deadline miss rate and fairness.

  • Supporting user perceptual QoE-guaranteed IP-based multimedia service such as IPTV and Mobile IPTV, we represent an efficient QoE-aware transport stream assessment schemes to apply realtime mobile IPTV's contents distorted by various network errors such as bandwidth, delay, jitter, and packet loss. This paper proposes in detail an efficient matching and QoE-aware measurement methods. The brightness of the digitized contents per each frames of transport streams is used and applied to reduced-reference method. The hybrid video quality metric is designed by QoE-indicators such as blur, block, edge busyness, and color error. We compare original with processed source to evaluate them in a high precision degree of accuracy.

  • While the use of battery-powered embedded systems has been rapidly increasing, the current level of battery technology has not kept up with the drastic increase in power consumption by the system. In order to prolong system usage time, the battery size needs to be increased. The amounts of power consumption by embedded systems are determined by their hardware configuration and software for manipulating hardware resources. In spite of that, the hardware provides features for lowering power consumption, if those cannot be utilized efficiently by software including operating system, reduction in power consumption is not optimized. In this paper, we propose a BET(Break Even Time)-based scheduling method using task partition to reduce power consumption of multimedia applications in a mobile embedded system environment.

  • The purpose of the study is to develop handheld learning tool based on design principles drawn from cognitive load theory. To optimize learner's cognitive load, the learning program should be developed for maximizing the effective load and(or) minimizing ineffective load. The principles, which were applied to developing the learning program, for minimizing the extraneous cognitive load, one of the ineffective loads, are modality, redundancy, split-attention, multimedia, and worked-out example. In this study, we will show possibilities for designing an effective mobile learning program.
