Reliability Analysis of Mechanical Component with Multiple Failure Modes (다수의 고장모드를 가지는 기계부품의 신뢰성 분석)

  • Most products are indeed governed by multiple failure modes. However, there are few cases in which reliability analysis applies to only one failure mode at a time. Furthermore, reliability data do not include information about failure modes, or the reliability analysis is performed using a representative failure mode. The Weibull shape parameter for failure modes is more important than one for products in the reliability qualification test. This paper presents reliability analysis methods for a mechanical component with multiple failure modes. These methods include the competing failure modes (CFM) method and the mixed Weibull method. Pneumatic cylinder test data with three failure modes are presented to estimate the shape parameter for each separate failure mode. In addition, reliability measures (B10 life, characteristic life) of the pneumatic cylinder considering three failure modes were compared with those assuming a single failure mode.

  • 본 연구에서는 압전 세라믹인 PZT를 이용하여 두께 진동모드의 다중모드 필터를 설계, 제작하였다. 다중모드 세라믹필터의 등가회로를 설계하였고, 이를 이용하여 설계변수 인 물성변수와 형상변수에 따른 필터전달특성의 경향을 분석하였다. 이를 바탕으로 10.7MHz의 중심주파수를 가지는 세라믹필터를 제작하였고, 설계변수 중에서 압전세라믹 기 판과 전극형상의 변화에 따른 필터의 전달특성의 변화를 실험적으로 검증하였다. 본 연구를 통한 경향분석결과는 다양한 진동모드와 다양한 주파수대를 가지는 다중모드 필터를 설계하 는데 있어서 유용한 도구로 사용될 수 있을 것이다.

Modal Analysis of a Large Truss for Structural Integrity (건전성 평가를 위한 대형 트러스 구조물의 모드분석)

  • Dynamic characteristics of a structure, i.e., natural frequency and mode shape, have been widely using as an input data in the area of structural integrity or health monitoring which combined with the damage evaluation and structural system identification techniques. It is very difficult, however, to get those information by the conventional modal analysis method from large structures, such as the offshore structure or the long-span bridge, since the source of vibration is not available. In this paper, a method to obtain the frequencies and the mode shapes of a large span truss structure using only acceleration responses is studied. The calculation procedures to obtain acceleration responses and frequency response functions are provided utilizing a numerical model of the truss, and the process to extract natural frequencies and mode shapes from the modal analysis is cleary explained. The extracted mode shapes by proposed method are compared with those from eigenvalue analysis for the estimation of accuracy. The validity of the mode shapes is also demonstrated using an existing damage detection technique for the truss structure by simulated damage cases.

The Structural Behavior and Performance by Span-to-Depth Ratio in Composite Structure of Sandwish System (셀 형상비에 따른 강.콘크리트 복합구조체의 구조적 거동 및 성능)

  • 이 논문은 샌드위치식 강-콘크리트 복합구조체에서 상하 강판과 격벽으로 구성되는 셀의 형상비가 거동과 성능에 미치는 영향을 다루었다. 이 구조체에서 셀 형상비는 하중전달 메카니즘과 하중분배능력을 변화시킨다. 따라서 셀 형상비에 따라 부재의 응력수준과 하중저항능력이 변화한다. 이 연구에서는 셀 형상비가 이 구조체의 거동과 성능에 미치는 영향을 규명하기 위해, 두 종류의 샌드위치식 복합구조체에 대해 다양한 셀 형상비를 설정하여 비선형 구조해석을 수행하였다. 해석결과로부터 셀 형상비에 따른 하중전달 메카니즘과 부채 응력에서의 차이점을 도출하였으며, 이들 차이점을 바탕으로 셀 형상비가 전단성능, 휨성능, 하중저항성능에 미치는 영향을 분석하였고, 파괴모드와 연성에 미치는 영향에 대해서도 간략히 언급하였다. 연구결과, 셀 형상비가 증가함에 따라 하부 강판과 콘크리트의 응력수준이 낮아지는 결과를 나타내었다. 이것은 각 부재의 유효휨강성과 유효전단강성 증가를 나타내며, 따라서 구조체의 하중저항성능도 향상되는 것으로 판단된다. 특히 셀 형상비의 증가에 따른 성능향상에서 전단성능이 휨성능에 비해 더 큰 효과를 나타내며, 이러한 차이는 파괴모드와 연성에도 영향을 미칠 것으로 판단된다. 즉, 셀 형상비가 증가함에 따라 구조물의 거동 및 파괴모드는 점차적으로 전단에서 휨으로 변화하고, 이에 따라 구조물의 연성도 점차적으로 향상될 것으로 판단된다.

Estimation of Wind Resistance Capacity of Nielsen Arch Bridge Based on Measured Data From Monitoring System (모니터링 시스템의 계측자료를 기반으로 한 닐슨아치 교량의 내풍 안정성 평가)

  • The wind resistant capacity of bridges with a span of less than 200m is typically evaluated by Wind Resistant Design Manual for Highway Bridges in Japan. Also, the first vertical frequency plays an important role in the evaluation of their aerodynamic performance. An unexpected vortex-induced vibration of Nielsen arch bridge with span of 183m designed by this manual has been measured by monitoring system during typhoon. The amplitude of vibrations was about 2 times than the allowable vibration displacement. This paper presents the feature of vortex-induced vibration of this Nielsen arch bridge based on measured wind velocity, wind direction, and responses at midspan of main girder. From the result of FFT, the $1^{st}$ mode shape of the bridge is antisymmetric and the $2^{nd}$ is symmetric. Also, the dominant vibration of the bridge is the $2^{nd}$ vertical mode. According to these results, the $2^{nd}$ vertical vibration mode of this Nielsen arch bridge is prior to the first for the estimation of wind resistance capacity.

Modal Parameter Extraction of Seohae Cable-stayed Bridge : I. Mode Shape (서해대교 사장교의 동특성 추출 : I. 모드형상)

  • This paper reports the mode shapes of Seohae cable-stayed bridge extracted by TDD technique. In order to record total 72 acceleration points in the vertical direction of the bridge deck, a custom made data acquisition system with LAN communication has been especially developed and a set of ambient vibration tests has been conducted. For the measured acceleration responses, total twenty four mode shapes up to 2Hz has been extracted by TDD technique. The extracted mode shapes include many new modes that have not been identified in the current on-line health monitoring system installed in the bridge. It is confirmed that TDD technique is the most effective in extracting the high resolution mode shapes on a particularly long span bridge.

  • This paper addresses the vibration mode shape measurement technique utilizing a Continuous Scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer (CSLDV). The continuous scanning capability is added to the conventional discrete Laser Doppler Vibrometer by reflecting the laser beams on the surface of the object using two oscillating mirrors. The bow scanning resulted from the proposed scanning method is eliminated by feedback control. The velocity output signal from the CSLDV is modulated to give the spatial velocity distribution in terms of coefficients which are obtained from the Fast Fourier Transformation of the time dependent velocity signal. Using the Chebyshev series form, the analysis of the vibration mode shape techniques for straight Bine scanning and 2 dimensional scanning are presented and discussed. Dynamic Modeling of Scissors Structure and Stiffness Analysis Based on Deployed Configuration (전개형 시저스 구조물의 동역학적 모델링 및 전개 완료 형상에 따른 강성 분석)

  • Deployable structures are widely used for space mission because of their advantages in storage and transportation coming from its transformability of configuration. The space structures should be designed with high stiffness to withstand the various types of disturbance that they encounter during operation. Especially for the deployable structures, the internal forces loaded on the component or the stiffness at its deployed configuration should be analyzed since they usually consist of the thin and light structures. In this paper, a dynamic model of the scissors structure is established and its deployment behavior is analyzed, especially focusing on the deployment speed and the internal force on each joint. In addition, modal analysis is carried out for the 1-stage and 2-stage scissors structures in order to analyze the stiffness of the scissors structure based on its deployed configuration. The fundamental mode shapes and natural frequencies are analyzed and discussed.

Nondestructive Damage Detection in PSC Beams : Frequency-Based Method Versus Mode-Shape-Based Method (고유진동수 이용 손상추정법과 모드형상 이용 손상추정법에 의한 PSC 보의 비파괴 손상검색)

  • A methodology to nondestructively locate and estimate size of damage in beam-type structures using a few natural frequencies or a few mode shapes is presented. A damage-localization algorithm to locate damage from changes in natural frequencies and a damage-sizing algorithm to estimate crack-size from natural frequency perturbation are outlined. A damage index algorithm to localize and estimate severity of damage from monitoring changes in mode shapes is outlined. The frequency-based method and the mode-shape-based method are evaluated for several damage scenarios by locating and sizing damage in PS concrete beams lot which a few natural frequencies and mode shapes are generated from finite element models. The result of the analyses indicates that the two methods correctly localize and closely estimate the size of the crack simulated in the test beam.

  • 방열판과 같이 전류나 전압원에 연결된 도체의 구조물은 유기된 전류에 의해 전파를 방사하게 된다. 이때의 전류 분포는 도체 구조물의 형상과 주파수에 따른 전류 분포를 갖게 되는데, 이는 모드의 특성 해석을 통하여 분석할 수 있다. 원치 않는 전파의 방사를 이 특성 모드 해석을 통하여 분석하고, 이를 통해서 효율적인 접지 위치를 선정 후 최적의 저항을 사용하여 원치 않는 전파의 방사가 최소가 되도록 한다.
