  • The use of hybrid FRP-concrete structures with a dual purpose of both permanent formwork and reinforcement, has been considered in some studies recently. For the FRP plank and the concrete to act as a composite structural member a satisfactory bond at the interface between the smooth surface of the pultruded plank and the cast-in-place concrete must be developed. Sand was bonded to the pultruded FRP plank using a commercially available epoxy system. In applying general analysis techniques to evaluate the performance of composite structures with FRP stay-in-place forming, it is essential that characteristics of the bond stress-slip relation be identified. In this study I would like to propose a simplified bilinear bond stress-slip model for FRP composite structures.

  • In order to understand hydrodynamic and morphodynamic characteristics under wave-current interactions in an estuary, a coupled model for two-way analysis between existing 3-d numerical wave tank and newly-developed 3-d morphodynamic model has been suggested. Comparing to existing experimental results it is revealed that computed results of the newly-suggested model are in good agreement with each laboratory test result for wave height distribution, vertical flow profile and topographical change around ocean floor pipeline in wave-current coexisting field. Also the numerical result for suspended sediment concentration is verified in comparison with experimental result in solitary wave field. Finally, it is shown that the 3-D coupled Hydro-Morphodynamic model suggested in this study is applicable to morphological change under wave-current interaction in an estuary.

  • Epidemiological models on disease spread attempt to simulate disease transmission and associated control processes and such models contribute to greater understanding of disease spatial diffusion through of individual's contacts. The objective of this study is to develop an agent-based modeling(ABM) approach that integrates geographic information systems(GIS) to simulate the spread of FMD in spatial environment. This model considered three elements: population, time and space, and assumed that the disease would be transmitted between farms via vehicle along the roads. The model is implemented using FMD outbreak data in Andong city of South Korea in 2010 as a case study. In the model, FMD is described with the mathematical model of transmission probability, the distance of the two individuals, latent period, and other parameters. The results show that the GIS-agent based model designed for this study can be easily customized to study the spread dynamics of FMD by adjusting the disease parameters. In addition, the proposed model is used to measure the effectiveness of different control strategies to intervene the FMD spread.

  • Best management practices (BMPs) are widely accepted and implemented as a mitigation method for soil erosion and non-point source problems. Estimating the amount of soil erosion and the effectiveness of BMPs using hydrological models help to understand the condition, identify the problems, and make plans for conservation practices in an area, typically a watershed. However, the accuracy and reliability of assessment of BMP impacts estimated by hydrological models can be often questionable due to the uncertainties from various sources including GIS(Geographic Information System) data, scale, and model. This study reviewed the development and the background of hydrological models, and the modeling issues such as the selection of models, scale, and uncertainties of data and models. This study also discussed the advantage of a small scale and spatially distributed model to estimate the impacts of BMPs.

  • The Strain Wedge Model is useful method for horizontal bearing capacity calculation considering interaction of pile and ground deformation. However, application case of the Strain Wedge Model is rare and the strain wedge model of plenty of verification is needed on multi layered ground in Korea. In this present study, to conduct laboratory model test and numerical analysis for verification of Strain Wedge Model, adapt model that could describe the interaction of pile and ground deformation on multi layered ground. In model test, it was performed to estimate the behavior characteristics on pile under lateral load and to analyze the relationship between load and deformation. In addition, it was fulfilled to measure the skin friction on pile using strain gauge and to decide the ground passive resistance wedge using skin friction. Numerical analysis was performed to verify laboratory model test results.

  • Proposed in the paper is an automated procedure to construct a plant model for PLC simulation. Since PLC programs only contain the control logic without the information on the plant model, it is necessary to build the corresponding plant model to perform simulation. Conventionally, a plant model for PLC simulation has been constructed manually, and it requires much efforts as well as the in-depth knowledge of simulation. As a remedy for the problem, we propose an automated procedure to generate a plant model from the symbol table of a PLC program. To do so, we propose a naming rule for PLC symbols so that the symbol names include enough information on the plant model. By analyzing such symbol names, we extract a plant model automatically. The proposed methodology has been implemented, and test runs were made.

  • Clear understanding and related information management of geography and city facilities are the fundamental approach to prevent city disaster. In order to accomplish the service to prevent city disaster effectively, there needs to be a consistent framework for data collection, to build models, and to manage information. In this study, the authors proposed standardized city information modeling process and application concept to use information model for service of preventing city disaster in information management standpoint. The study was conducted on the process of classification and necessary attributes to manage city facilities effectively considering disaster related information. Additionally, the study suggested the methods for building an open city information model based on an integrated data schema, CityGML. Finally, through the implementation of sample model, the study confirmed city information modeling methodology and applicability for service of disaster prevention.

  • With the development of imaging information communication technology in modern society, imaging acquisition and mass production technology have developed rapidly. However, crime rates using these technology are increased and forensic studies are conducted to prevent it. Identification techniques for image acquisition devices are studied a lot, but the field is limited to images. In this paper, camera model identification technique for video, not image is proposed. We analyzed video frames using the trained model with images. Through training and analysis by considering the frame characteristics of video, we showed the superiority of the model using the P frame. Then, we presented a video camera model identification system by applying a majority-based decision algorithm. In the experiment using 5 video camera models, we obtained maximum 96.18% accuracy for each frame identification and the proposed video camera model identification system achieved 100% identification rate for each camera model.

To achieve this purpose, the cultural competency model of media part was developed through literature review, panel workshop with high-performers of media part, and experts verification. In the result of this study, core performance of media part was identified. They were improvement of work efficiency, possibility of creative design, change of media context, increase of understanding and participation to social culture, improvement of relationship skill, increase of chance of self-examination, and self-satisfaction. It was 62 that The cultural competencies which were needed to achieve these core performance, then, finally the definition and standard of behaviors of each competencies were drawn and the cultural competency model was proposed.

  • IT companies make a lot of effort to share and utilize the experiences of their members and transform them into organizational knowledge as a competitive core. However they face a dilemma in that they have to spend time and financial resources to perform activities around knowledge management for the long-term gains, while carrying at field-work for making short-term profits. As an initial attempt to tackle this managerial problem, this paper tries to investigate the mechanism of knowledge management in a small IT company in Korea with a synthetic view-point using system dynamics simulation model. It depicts the dynamic behaviors of knowledge management and presents some findings of political leverage. Although this model has to be further replenished, the scheme for the dynamism of knowledge management and the findings presented in the paper could be useful for the decision makers, especially of knowledge-intensive organizations.
