Sensory Evaluation of Quality and Constructability of Cement Mortar for Tile Direct Setting Method Depending on Mix Proportions (타일 떠붙임 시멘트 모르타르의 배합비 변화에 따른 품질 특성 및 시공성에 대한 관능 평가)

  • The aim of the research is providing a fundamental data on quality and constructability of direct tile setting method depending on various cement to sand ratio for tiling dry cement mortar. A large number of tile setting failures reported is related with the cement mortar and its construction for tiling. Because of different materials of tiles, the properties of tiling dry cement mortar, an adhesive for tiling, can influence on quality and constructability of tiling differently. Practically, the easiest way of controlling the properties of the tiling dry cement mortar is to control the proportion of cement and sand. Hence, in this research, sand to cement ratio (S/C) was controlled. Since there is no standarized method on evaluating performance of dry cement mortar for tiling, a several sensory evaluation methods were suggested and executed. According to the experiments conducted in this research, the adhesive performance of cement mortar for tiles can be different depending on the sides such as tile and substrate. Additionally, depending on S/C, finishability, initial adhesive performance, and tile shifting resistance can be changed for ceramic tile. Therefore, under the conditions of this research, about 5 of S/C can be recommended for appropriate performace of tiling dry cement mortar.

Comparison of Establishment Vigor, Uniformity, Rooting Potential and Turf Qualtiy of Sods of Kentucky Bluegrass, Perennial Ryegrass, Tall Fescue and Cool-Season Grass Mixtures Grown in Sand Soil (모래 토양에서 켄터키블루그라스, 퍼레니얼라이그라스, 톨훼스큐 및 한지형 혼합구 뗏장의 피복도, 균일도, 근계 형성력 및 잔디품질 비교)

  • Research was initiated to compare establishment vigor, uniformity, rooting potential and turf quality in sods of cool-season grasses (CSG). Several turfgrasses grown under pure sand soil were tested. Establishment vigor, uniformity, rooting potential and turf quality were evaluated in the study. Turfgrass entries were comprised of three blends from Kentucky bluegrass (KB, Poa pratensis L.), perennial ryegrass (PR, Lolium perenne L.), and tall fescue (TF, Festuca arundinacea Schreb.), respectively and three mixtures among them. Differences by treatments were significantly observed in establishment vigor, uniformity, rooting potential and turf quality. Early establishment vigor was mainly influenced by germination speed, being fastest with PR, intermediate with TF and slowest with KB. In a late stage of growth, however, it was affected more by growth habit, resulting in highest with KB and slowest with TF. There were considerable variations in sod uniformity among turfgrasses. Best uniformity among monostand sods was associated with KB, while poorest one with TF. PR sod produced intermediate uniformity between KB and TF. The uniformity of polystand sods of CSG mixtures was inferior to that of monostands of KB, PR and TF, due to characteristics of mixtures comprised of a variety of color, density, texture and growth habit. The greatest potential of sod rooting was found with PR and the poorest with KB. Intermediate potential between PR and KB was associated with TF. In CSG mixtures, it was variable, depending on turfgrass mixing rates. Generally, the higher the PR in mixtures, the greater the sod rooting potential. At the time of sod harvest, however, turfgrass quality of KB was superior to that of PR. because of its characteristics of uniform surface, high density and good mowing quality. These results suggest that a careful expertise based on turf quality as well as sod characteristics like establishment vigor, uniformity and rooting potential be strongly required for the success of golf course or athletic field in establishment.

Swell Effect Correction for the High-resolution Marine Seismic Data (고해상 해저 탄성파 탐사자료에 대한 너울영향 보정)

  • The seismic data quality of marine geological and engineering survey deteriorates because of the sea swell. We often conduct a marine survey when the swell height is about 1 ~ 2 m. The swell effect correction is required to enhance the horizontal continuity of seismic data and satisfy the resolution less than 1 m. We applied the swell correction to the 8 channel high-resolution airgun seismic data and 3.5 kHz subbottom profiler (SBP) data. The correct sea bottom detection is important for the swell correction. To detect the sea bottom, we used maximum amplitude of seismic signal around the expected sea bottom, and picked the first increasing point larger than threshold value related with the maximum amplitude. To find sea bottom easily in the case of the low quality data, we transformed the input data to envelope data or the cross-correlated data using the sea bottom wavelet. We averaged the picked sea bottom depths and calculated the correction values. The maximum correction of the airgun data was about 0.8 m and the maximum correction of two kinds of 3.5 kHz SBP data was 0.5 m and 2.0 m respectively. We enhanced the continuity of the subsurface layer and produced the high quality seismic section using the proper methods of swell correction.

Quality Characteristics and Optimization of Fish-Meat Noodle Formulation Added with Olive Flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) Using Response Surface Methodology (반응표면분석법을 이용한 넙치 첨가 어묵면의 품질 특성 및 제조조건 최적화)

  • The purpose of this study was to optimize the formulation for fish-meat noodles added with farmed olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) using response surface methodology. Fish-meat (surimi) from P. olivaceus was prepared by a traditional washing process. Independent variables were Alaska pollack, fish-meat from P. olivaceus, and starch, whereas dependent variables were whiteness and texture. The results for whiteness and texture produced very significant values for whiteness (P<0.001), strength (P<0.001), hardness (P<0.05), breaking force (P<0.001), chewiness (P<0.001), brittleness (P<0.001), extensibility force (P<0.001), and extensibility distance (P<0.05). The optimal formula for fish-meat noodle was addition of 72.00 g Alaska pollack, 11.59 g P. olivaceus, and 15.86 g starch. Experimental values of whiteness, strength, hardness, breaking force, chewiness, brittleness, extensibility force, and extensibility distance under optimal conditions were $59.01{\pm}0.53$, $708.22{\pm}54.12g/cm^2$, $1,390.07{\pm}67.70g/cm^2$, $3,622.77{\pm}92.52g$, $2,686.94{\pm}103.22g$, $278,578.31{\pm}10,150.22g$, $52.22{\pm}2.97g$, $24.14{\pm}3.55mm$, respectively.

Effect of Permeability-Controlled Polyethylene Film on Extension of Shelf-life of Brined Baechu Cabbage (투과도 조절 폴리에틸렌 필름의 절임배추 보존기간 연장효과)

  • Brined Baechu cabbages were packed with different films of high density polyethylene (HDPE), aluminium polyethylene (Al/PE), nylon polyamide (Ny/PE), low density polyethylene (LDPE) and permeability-controlled polyethylene (Mirafresh (MF), US patent No. 5972815), and then stored at 4${^{\circ}C}$ for 4 weeks. Changes in quality characteristics of pH, acidity, total bacteria counts, lactic acid bacteria counts, E. coli counts, texture and $O_2$ concentration were determined during the storage. The pH of brined Baechu cabbage packed with Mirafresh (MF) film was 6.25 after 4 weeks from initial pH of 6.80. The acidity of all brined Baechu cabbages increased, however, the increase of the cabbage in MF was the lowest. The levels of total bacteria, lactic acid bacteria and E. coli in the cabbages packed with MF were also lower than the other films. After 4 weeks, of all brined springiness Baechu cabbages decreased, but MF showed relatively high springiness. The $O_2$ concentrations by its permeation through MF were 0.35%-1.00% at 4-25${^{\circ}C}$ after 1 week. In conclusion, MF was found to be the most effective packaging film for brined Baechu cabbage to extend shelf-life.

Improvement of Migration Image for Ocean-bottom Seismic Data using Wavefield Separation and Mirror Imaging (파동장 분리와 미러 이미징을 이용한 해저면 탄성파 탐사 자료의 참반사 보정 영상 개선)

  • Ocean-bottom seismic survey is a seismic acquisition technique which measures data by installing 4-component receiver on the sea floor. It can produce more improved data in quality than any other acquisition techniques. In the ocean-bottom seismic survey, however, the number of receivers is limited due to high cost. Since only a small number of receivers are used for acquisition, ocean-bottom seismic data may suffer from discontinuities of events over traces, which can result in spatial aliasing. In this paper, we implemented Kirchhoff migration using mirror-imaging algorithm to improve the quality of ocean-bottom seismic image. In order to implement the mirror imaging algorithm, the seismograms should be separated into up-going and down-going wavefields and the down-going wavefield should be used for migration. In this paper, we use the P-Z summation method to separate the wavefield. Numerical examples show that the migration results using mirror imaging algorithm have wider illumination than the conventional migration, especially in the shallow layers.

  • 지구환경문제와 에너지 수급관계를 감안할 때, 청정 및 대체에너지 연구개발은 불가피하며, 그 중에서도 태양에너지는 대표적인 대안의 하나로 인식된다. 따라서 태양에너지의 적극적인 활용에 필요한 기초자료의 마련은 필수적이다. 태양에너지의 이용 및 관련 절약 기술에 필요한 태양에너지 자원(기상)에 대한 기술자료는 최소한 30년간의 측정 자료를 필요로 한다. 이들 자료에는 시간별 수평면전 일사량, 법선면 직달일사량 및 수평면 산란일사량은 물론 시간별 평균치로 운량, 기온, 습도 등이 포함된다. 이들 자료로부터 자료의 분포, 평균 및 최고, 최저값 등과 같은 기초자료들을 선별하여 관련 시스템 설계에서 요구하는 기준을 충족하여야 하는 것이다. 그러나 우리나라의 경우, 태양에너지 자원에 대한 정밀한 측정은 1982년 이후 수평면 전일사량, 1990년 이후에서나 법선면 직달일사량에 대하여 본격적으로 이루어진 실정으로, 자료의 표준화 및 신뢰성 확보에는 여전히 상당한 시간과 노력이 요구되는 실정이다. 지속적인 측정과 더불어 요구되는 것으로 측정자료의 가공기술을 들 수 있다. 즉, 측정자료의 품질평가 및 관리 기술, 미측정 또는 불량자료의 복원 기술 및 측정 지역외 자료의 추정을 위한 보간기술 등이다. 이와 같은 기초자료 및 기술에 관한 연구개발은 보다 구체적인 적용에 앞서 필수적으로 이루어져야 할 과제이다.

Boundary Match and Block Reliability Based Error Concealment Algorithm (블록 신뢰도와 경계면 매칭 기반의 잡음 은닉 알고리즘)

  • A packet loss in wireless environments causes a severe degradation of video quality in video communications. In this paper, a novel video error concealment algorithm is presented by combining boundary errors and a block reliability measure. The block reliability measure decides the reliability of a block by checking residual errors of a block. In the proposed approach, a motion vector of a missing unreliable block in an inter coded frame is obtained initially based on the motion vector of the same block in the reference frame. Furthermore, if the block in the reference frame is unreliable according to the reliability measure, a new motion vector is decided based on block boundary errors around the initial motion vector. According to our simulations, the proposed approach shows promising results for error concealment in error-prone wireless environments.

Making characteristics of extruded noodles mixed with soybean flour (대두분 첨가 압출면의 제면특성)

  • For the improvement of the nutritive value of extruded noodles, soybean flour(SF) was mixed with wheat flour. The effects of the addition of SF on the viscosity of wheat flour and the quality of cooked noodles were evaluated. As the proportion of SF addition was increased, the viscosity of composite flour was decreased, And so were the texture and cooking quality of noodles. To improve noodle-making characteristics of extruded noodles with 10% SF, Na-alginate, Na-car-boxymethyl cellulose, guar gum, crude gluten and xanthan gum were added. Then, the noodlemaking characteristics were examined. The viscosity increased with the increase in the concentration of additives and xanthan gum was the most effective. The texture of noodles supplemented by Na-alginate 2.0%, Na-carboxymeihyl cellulose 2.0%, guar gum 2.0%, xanthan gum 1.0% was similar to that of wheat flour noodles. The results of sensory test(color and texture) was coincidal with the results of instrumental tests.

An Estimation of the Composite Sea Surface Temperature using COMS and Polar Orbit Satellites Data in Northwest Pacific Ocean (천리안 위성과 극궤도 위성 자료를 이용한 북서태평양 해역의 합성 해수면온도 산출)

  • National Meteorological Satellite Center(NMSC) has produced Sea Surface Temperature (SST) using Communication, Ocean, and Meteorological Satellite(COMS) data since April 2011. In this study, we have developed a new regional COMS SST algorithm optimized within the North-West Pacific Ocean area based on the Multi-Channel SST(MCSST) method and made a composite SST using polar orbit satellites as well as the COMS data. In order to retrieve the optimized SST at Northwest Pacific, we carried out a colocation process of COMS and in-situ buoy data to make coefficients of the MCSST algorithm through the new cloud masking including contaminant pixels and quality control processes of buoy data. And then, we have estimated the composite SST through the optimal interpolation method developed by National Institute of Meteorological Science(NIMS). We used four satellites SST data including COMS, NOAA-18/19(National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-18/19), and GCOM-W1(Global Change Observation Mission-Water 1). As a result, the root mean square error ofthe composite SST for the period of July 2012 to June 2013 was $0.95^{\circ}C$ in comparison with in-situ buoy data.
