  • This study attempts an appropriate Christian understanding and application of the metaverse. To this end, the general concept, type, and utilization of the metaverse were examined, and the main characteristics of the metaverse were analyzed in three main categories by the association of the concepts and the common factors. Based on this, the main focus of the Christian understanding of the metaverse found in this study is, first, the "transcendental worldview" of the metaverse. Applications include restructuring the Christian worldview and creating a Christian metaverse environment for future generations. Second, it is a "fusion and composite on- and offline" understanding of the metaverse. An integrated on- and off-line understanding of the church, worship, mission, and the missional acceptance of the metaverse are its applications. Third, in the metaverse, it is an "extension of the functionality of the avatar." This presents its application tasks, such as establishing human identity, expanding the concepts of empathy and communication, and expanding Christian ethics and economic views. At the heart of the Christian understanding of the metaverse is worldview, mission, and understanding on human being.

  • This paper intends to analyze the role expansion of characters, which was an important factor in setting the worldview in storytelling. With the development of media, the way of setting the worldview began to change. At the center of these changes are 'Transmedia' and 'Metaverse', which have recently been receiving attention. With the development of trans media, where the intersection and convergence of media is actively attempted, characters are breaking free from their innate limitations, crossing various media, and performing various activities in new stories. In addition, in the metaverse, an extended concept of the real world, avatars play a role in constructing and expanding the metaverse world as users and creators. By analyzing these changes, we would like to deal with the phenomenon in which character setting, which was used as an element in orthodox world view setting, replaces the world view.

  • Metaverse is a combination of Meta and Universe, which refers to a world in which users or avatars engage in social, economic, and cultural activities. This study attempted to compare the four worldviews proposed by the Acceleration Studies Foundation (ASF) based on the five evaluation factors of SPICE, which are factors for promoting customer experience. 227 samples were used in the analysis, and as a result, seamlessness was the highest in augmented reality, interoperability in lifelogging, presence in the mirror world, and concurrence in virtual reality. This study is meaningful in that it presents a model design plan according to the classification of the metaverse platform and the worldview, and presents detailed strategic directions to existing metaverse platform operators or new entrants.

  • The purpose of this study is to show typology of virtual world and to look out how virtual world develops especially in Korea. As paradigm changes, the scientific virtual reality and world wide web are absorbed into 3-D virtual world in Metaverse. The metaverse is the convergence of virtually enhanced physical reality and physically persistent virtual space. There are two categories of virtual world, the Ludic Virtual World which is oriented from games like MMORPGs and the Social Virtual World which is oriented from network communication system. Compared to North America and Europe, the Ludic Virtual World and game society grow and develop quickly in Korea. It's because Korean users prefer the online environment where millions of people live out a collective fantasy existence.

  • This study was conducted to examining the socio-cultural impact of the COVID-19 pandemic that swept the world around 2020, and the transformation of norms and social problems due to COVID-19. For this, the characteristics of changes in the socio-cultural norms of the 14th century European Black Death, a representative example of the pandemic, were derived, and based on this, the COVID-19 pandemic was analyzed. The Black Death served as an opportunity to change social norms based on the existing religious authority and the power of the feudal system to the Enlightenment. The population declination and labor shortage also promoted commercialization and mechanization. Printing, which spread during this period, led to the popularization of knowledge, which raised the level of thinking and led to epochal scientific development. This became the foundation of the Industrial Revolution. Like the recent Black Death, COVID-19 has triggered changes in social norms. The technological environment of metaverse, a mixture of virtual and reality, has changed the norm of a consistent identity into free and open identities exerting various potentials through alternate characters. In addition, meme, which are about people being friendly to those with the same worldview as him on the metaverse, weakened the sense of isolation in non-face-to-face situations. Artificial intelligence (AI), which developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, has entered the stage of being used for creative activities beyond the function of assisting humans. Discussions were held on what new social problems would be created by the social norms changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • This study aims to explore the direction of Christian public practice in the post-COVID era, seeking to overcome the uncanny feeling caused by increased division and exclusion during the pandemic period. Firstly, we will investigate the unequal impact of COVID-19 on the labor market and examine ways to achieve economic justice in the post-COVID era. Subsequently, we will deliberate the role of Christianity in establishing publicness in the digital world and virtual spaces. Finally, viewing COVID-19 as a catastrophe caused by an anthropocentric worldview and exploitation driven by greed, we will explore the tasks of Christianity to overcome the crisis of the Anthropocene. Christian public practice should fulfill its mission of care and stewardship not only in social context but also in an ecological dimension. The author proposes "planetary citizenship education" for a harmonious relationship between human species and the Earth they inhabit.
