  • This study aims to explore meta-modeling knowledge of gifted students through the modeling. To do this, five gifted students were asked to do modeling related to candle burning, and all the processes of modeling were observed and then individual interviews were conducted. As a result of the study, two students were classified as first level and three students were classified as second level. The students of the first level did not have any model generation or model-based prediction activities, and observation was the most meaningful activity. On the other hand, the students of the second level performed all four modeling processes. However, the generation of the model and the prediction using the model were relatively strong. The data they gained from the experiments was perceived as just confirming the absolute model. No student was found in Level 3 or Level 4. The results of this study show that gifted students remain at the progression level of recognizing the model as an objective reality, and in order to cultivate a true scientist, it is necessary to educate the gifted students to recognize the subjectivity of the model.

  • The ISO/IEC 11179 Metadata registry (MDR) is an international standard that was developed to register and share metadata. ISO/IEC 11179 represents an MDR as a metamodel that is an object model. However, it is difficult to develop an MDR based on ISO/IEC 11179 because the standard has no clear criteria to transform the metamodel into a database. In this paper, we suggest the design of an MDR data model that is based on object-relational transformation methodology (ORTM) for the MDR implementation. Hence, we classify the transformation methods of ORTM according to the corresponding relationships. After classification, we propose modeling rules by defining the standard use of the transformation. This paper builds the relational database tables as an implementation result of an MDR data model. Through experiments and evaluation, we verify the proposed modeling rules and evaluate the suitability of the created table structures. As the result, the proposed method shows that the table structures preserve classes and relationships of the standard metamodel well.

  • Implicit surface model is convenient for modeling objects composed of complicated surfaces such as characters and liquids. Moreover, it can express various forms of surface using a relatively small amount of data. In addition, it can represent both the surface and the volume of objects. Therefore, the modeling technique can be applied efficiently to deformation of objects and 3D animation. However, the existing implicit primitives are parallel to the axis or symmetrical with respect to the axes. Thus it is not easy to use them in modeling objects with various forms of motions. In this paper, we propose an efficient animation method for modeling various poses of characters according to matching with motion capture data by adding the attribute of rotation to metacube which is one of the implicit primitives.

  • With the rise of the metaverse industry worldwide, relevant national strategies and nurturing systems have been prepared in Korea. As the complexity of policies increases, the importance of establishing data-based policymkaing is growing, and studies diagnosing national R&D trends in the metaverse field are still lacking. Therefore, this paper collected NTIS national R&D information for 9,651 R&D projects promoted from 2002 to 2020. And this study looked at the current status and identified major topics based on the topic modeling, and considered time-series changes in the topics. Eleven major topics of R&D tasks in the metaverse field were derived, hot topics were service/content/platform development and medical/surgical fields of application fields, and cold topics were urban/environment/spatial information fields. Strategic R&D Management, metaverse-related laws, and institutional studies were proposed as policy directions.

  • In the process of extending the UML model for a various domain, comply with the UML metamodel and it is possible to obtain a number of advantages. However, the UML metamodel is necessary to redefine the diagram must be defined via the Profile in order to expand and transformation the UML metamodel from a variety of sources using the UML metamodel is becoming increase massive scale. it is necessary to use only those extracts the element relative to the target to be used to extend a UML metamodel. Used to re-define the extension of the UML Metamodel and Profile based UML modeling tools and metadata repositories by analysis tools, can develop more quickly and easily, by utilizing these tools can improve the quality of development in the SW industry. In this paper, we present an algorithm that of the profile through the expansion of the UML metamodel and shows the results in actually applying e-government standards framework.

  • Metadata and folksonomy are two main approaches in representing, organizing, and retrieving resources in the current information environment. Many researches have conducted studies to combine of metadata and folksonomy in order to utilize the strengths of both approaches. This research proposed an approach to utilize both metadata and folksonomy in representing resources by using microcontents. Microcontents in this research is a conceptual structure that reflects dynamic characteristics of folksonomy and the structure of metadata. By connecting folksonomy with metadata through this microcontents structure, both approaches can maximize their strengths and minimize their weaknesses in representing, organizing, and retrieving resources.
