  • The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the differences and satisfaction of each purchase behavior by classifying cosmeceutical and medical cosmetics. A total of 861 questionnaires were distributed to males in their 20s to 50s (from 1 march 2017). A total of 446 respondents with experience using cosmeceutical cosmetics and medical cosmetics used as the final analysis material. According to the study, the term recognition for cosmeceutical cosmetics and medical cosmetics was very low. The differences in each purchase behavior were not statistically significant. but cosmeceutical cosmetic products have been found to have a significant impact on quality, price, container design, and service satisfaction among purchase preference factors (p<0.05, p<0.01, p<0.001), In particular, it was found that satisfaction with quality was the greatest. Medical cosmetics have been found to have a significant positive (+) effect on brand image, price, and container design among purchase preference factors (p<0.01, p<0.001), It was also found to have the biggest satisfaction with the brand image. Based on the results of this study, The features of cosmeceutical cosmetics and medical cosmetics are subdivided. It has been deemed necessary to develop differentiated products according to each purchase behavior and preference.

  • Functional cosmetics are products that help emphasize certain functions such as skin whitening, wrinkle reduction and UV protection. Functional cosmetic items have expanded since 2017. Korea's functional cosmetics industry has focused on skin whitening, wrinkle reduction, UV protection, and high-performance items including medical cosmetics that are in the research and development stage. France leads the international export performance rankings followed by the United states and Germany. France's cosmetic industry is renowned for emphasizing mechanism driven functional cosmetics in bio-industrial and functional materials, while the United states cosmetic industry is in high demand for luxury premium products. The German cosmetic industry is showing growing strength in bio high tech functional cosmetics. For the Korean cosmetic industry to challenge the top 3, it will also have to develop new material of various functional cosmetics that can be applied to emerging industries, and develop a variety of industry equipment in an environment where politics and economy are backed by more focus on research.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of product selection of hospital workers cosmeceutical cosmetics on marketing communication among hospital workers who use cosmeceutical cosmetics that have emerged in line with the recent growing medical skin care field.Coping with complaints from consumers who buy cosmeceutical cosmetics in hospitals where cosmeceutical cosmetics are mainly used and sold, and minimizing the influence of negative issues will potentially strengthen consumer relationships. The study was conducted on 520 hospital workers who use cosmeceutical cosmetics in hospitals (dermatology, plastic surgery, women's clinic, and other hospitals) in Seoul, Gyeonggi and Incheon. A total of 502 questionnaires were used for the final analysis. The data analysis consisted of Cronbach's alpha, one-way ANOVA, exploratory factor analysis and Duncan test. Correlation analysis was performed to investigate the correlation between variables, and regression analysis was conducted to test hypotheses. The study results revealed that when choosing cosmetic cosmetics, marketing communication is influential. Especially, product value, quality, and price factors strongly affect marketing communication. This shows that we value the product and quality the most and we want a reasonable price. Considering this, we will pursue differentiated products only from cosmeceutical cosmetics and provide them as basic data necessary for securing potential customers and increasing the sales of cosmeceutical cosmetics in accordance with the changing trends.

  • Due to COVID-19, modern people have come to prefer natural substances as anxiety due to harmful environments and various stimuli has increased. Therefore, in order to find out the appropriateness of hibiscus, which is recognized as a non-toxic plant in traditional medicine, as a natural cosmetic material, the antioxidant effects (polyphenol, flavonoid, DPPH, ABTS) of hibiscus extract were studied, and the following results were obtained. First, the total polyphenol of hibiscus was found to be 433 ㎍/mL when the HSE was 100%. Second, the total flavonoids showed high antioxidant capacity at 488 ㎍/mL in 100% of the HSE. Third, the DPPH radical scavenging ability was found to be 94.04% in the undiluted HES and 89.54% in the diluted HSE 20%. Fourth, the ABTS radical scavenging ability was 98.95% in 100% of the HSE stock solution and 94.84% in the diluted HSE 20%, respectively, showing a high scavenging ability of more than 90%. As a result of these studies, it is thought that the hibiscus extract can be used as an antioxidant raw material for natural cosmetics in the future.

  • Consumer preferences for food are influenced by personal values and personalities. Social, economic, and cultural developments in modern society have influenced consumer lifestyles and brought about multiple changes in consumption patterns. In the beauty market, consumers are now more interested in specialized offerings, and an increasing number of people are opting for customized products in a market structure where mass production has led to mass consumption. Hair products are now manufactured as functional cosmetics designed to maintain and improve scalp health and hair growth by removing waste from the scalp and adding fragrance for cleanliness, breaking away from the concept of general cosmetics. Many studies have focused on personalized products in the cosmetics industry. This study aimed to accurately determine scalp types and further diagnose individual scalp conditions using a scalp diagnostic device. Based on the diagnoses, it recommended and provided personalized shampoos in order to understand how these shampoos improved scalp health. By objectively analyzing and comparing scalp conditions before and after using customized shampoos, the study demonstrated a significant effect on scalp health. The results of this study confirmed the perception and effectiveness of personalized shampoos.

  • The human skin is an organ that protects the body from physical and chemical factors. The skin is the largest and most massive of the body's organs and is composed of the epidermis, dermis, and subcutaneous tissue. Constant UV exposure to the skin can cause DNA damage, oxidation of proteins, and contribute to adult diseases. Nypa fruticans Wurmb (NF), rich in phytochemicals (polyphenols and flavonoids), has been traditionally used for treating respiratory and other diseases. This study investigated the effects of NF ethyl acetate fraction (ENF) on DNA damage healing and inhibition of wrinkle-related factors in UVB-stimulated Hs68 cells. Westernblotting was used to assess the expression of DNA damage-related proteins and wrinkle-related protein factors. In addition, the wound recovery capability of ENF was confirmed through wound-healing experiments. ENF significantly suppressed the expression of DNA damage-related proteins Phosphorylated H2AX (γ-H2AX), checkpoint kinase 2 (Chk2), protein53 (p53), and Phosphorylated protein53 (p-p53). Furthermore, ENF inhibited the expression of wrinkle-related proteins matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1), matrix metalloproteinase-3 (MMP-3), and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9). High concentrations of ENF also enhanced wound healing in Hs68 cells. ENF is thought to have the potential to heal DNA damage by significantly suppressing the expression of γ-H2AX, Chk2, p53, and p-p53, as well as to inhibit wrinkle formation by suppressing the expression of MMP-1, MMP-3, and MMP-9. These results suggest that ENF can be used as a natural resource to suppress skin damage caused by UVB by regulating the γ-H2AX, Chk2, p53, and MMP pathways in Hs68 cells induced by UVB.
