Analysis of Color Combination through Munsell Code based on CMYK (CMYK 연계 먼셀 코드를 이용한 색채 조화 유형화에 관한 연구 - 1995년 이후 건축상 수상작들의 실내이미지를 대상으로 -)

  • As various colors are used indoors and such colors influence on the image of indoors, color selection and color combination are a very important issue in inferior design. The purpose of this study is to analyse characteristic of color usage in interior design elements such as the floor, the wall, the ceiling and furnitures. The result of analysis shows the frequently used Munsell code corresponding to the cmyk code. Based on this analysis, this paper classifies largely into two kinds of the color combination type which can be used leer efficient color selection with good harmony The first combination type is divided into five types and the second is classified into three types. This paper argues that combination design principle, as a strong design tool, for color should be further developed for good quality of color design.

  • The design trend of train nose has been developed through interrelation of social culture and trains. Along with the changes of social culture and train nose of the advanced railway countries (United Kingdom, Germany, France, Japan, Korea) have been divided into the 6 periods from the 1800's to 2008. First, the design changes on the Image scale, Munsell system, Design positioning map of train nose have been confirmed. Second, the design trend of train nose through social culture has been analyzed. Last, the research on the design trend on train nose of each country has been done. The result shows that the design trend of train nose is a progressively structural, practical, popular, humane, eco-friendly and state-of-the-art design trend.

  • The purpose of this study is to offer proposals of the practical color schemes based on the use of color systems. This study focused on the .\lunsell color system, the Ostwald color system and the ISCC ~BS color names i and then selected the Ostwald color harmony and the Judd color hallTIOny in order to establish the general principles of color schemes. The method of color schemes is worked by' the 10 i hues circle of the .\Iunsell color system and the tone system of the ISCC :\BS color names, because our i country have been adopted the "vIunsell color system for the use of color education and the KS.   • 색채에 대한 인간 감성 반응도를 비교 선정을 통해 규명하였다. 원, 정사각형 및 정삼각형을 기본도형으로 하고 여섯 가지 비례를 바탕으로 색채를 대입한 감성 반응 시각제시물을 제작하여 색체에 대한 인간 감성을 측정 평가하였다. 색채는 먼셀 기본 5 색인 적(R), 황(Y), 녹(G), 청(B), 자(P)와 무채색의 검정색을 사용하였다. 피검자군은 대학생남녀 각 50명 합계 100명이다. 실험을 위해 별도의 시각제시물을 제작하였으며, 시각잡음이 제거된 별도의 실험공간이 제공되었다. 시각물과 피검자의 거리는 피검자 스스로 가장 편한 거리로 맞추도록 조정케 하였다. 도형 및 비례 별로 제작된 9개의 제시물 각각에 대한 피검자의 선호 및 혐오를 5점 척도로 측정하였다. 이 측정에서 감성정도와 함께 자신이 선호하고 혐오하는 대상을 선정케 된다. 실험 결과를 통해 감성 반응도, 선호 및 혐오 색채와 그 정도를 추출하였다.

  • The CMYK is the mathematical color model and the Musell system is an intuitive color model. CMYK color model needs to be proposed in the information age. These two models need to be integrated for convenience of color design. This paper deals with CMRK values, which have appeared in interior design, in association with the Munsell code. Firstly, color samples have been extracted from the cases of interior design. Secondly, the CMRK values of the color sample and the Munsell code have been found. Thirdly, relationship between the CMRK values has been formularized in comparison with the Whelan's color pallette by using the regression method. This paper concludes by proposing the formular which can be used to develope color palette in further research.

  • Hue, value, and chroma are the fundamental colour components used in colour property research to identify colour in the digital media environment. In the Munsell colour system, which is based on the characteristics of visual perception, the basic properties are classified into hue, value, and chroma. The methods for recording these three properties can be divided into the colour appearance system and the colour mixing system: in the former, they are documented based on a colour chart that focuses on visual perception, and in the latter, accurate numerical records are kept without concern for discolouration. Colour terminology is crucial for conveying and expressing colours, and colours can be classified and defined according to the combination of hue, value, and chroma. With the development of various media, it has become possible to represent a range of colours previously unachievable, necessitating basic research into the characteristics of colour perception by further subdividing digital-oriented colour studies. In this study, we conducted psychophysical experiments to identify and analyse the categories of value and chroma needed to recognise each colour among the ten representative colours of the Munsell colour system, based on visual perception on a display. This study analyses the results of these experiments, defines their significance as foundational research data on colour perception characteristics, and suggests directions for future research.

Dyeing Protein Fiber to Green Color Using Natural Mugwort and Indigo (천연 쑥과 쪽을 이용한 단백질 섬유의 녹색 염색)

  • We need to diversify the colors by natural dyeing for promotion and extention of the natural dyes market, because natural dyestuffs have the limitation the number of the colors to express, compare to synthetic dyestuffs. It was investigated that wool and silk fabrics could be dyed to green colors using natural mugwort and indigo as one of color diversification, in order to express green color that is difficult to be shown by natural dyeing. The mugwort dyebath was prepared to concentration of $25{\sim}100g/l$ using dried mugwort plant and indigo dyebath was prepared to concentration of $5{\sim}20g/l$ using natural indigo powder. Wool fabrics and silk fabrics were dyed to green(GY, G, BG in Munsell color wheel) by two batch methods using the mugwort and indigo dyebaths. the mugwort dyeing was applied at $80^{\circ}C$ for 20minutes and indigo dyeing applied for $5{\sim}7$ minutes in room temperature. The colorfastness to drycleaning and abrasion of the dyed fabrics were shown good as grade 4-5 or 5.

A Study on Cochineal Dyeing by Various Mordants and pH Conditions II -Treatment on Wool Fabric- (염욕의 pH와 매염제의 변화에 따른 코치닐의 염색성 연구 II -양모직물을 중심으로-)

  • In this study, wool fabric specimens were pre-mordanted using Sn, Al, Cu, Cr, and Fe, and subsequently dyed using cochineal, maintaining the pH of the dye bath constant using pH buffer solutions of 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. In the case of wool fabric specimen, regardless of the type of mordanting agents, peak dye-uptake amount was obtained at the acidic region, pH 4, and above pH 6, the dye-uptake amount decreased remarkably. Differing from the cotton fabric case, the dyed wool fabric specimen exhibited red shade even in the case of non-mordanting, at the region of pH values of 4 and 5. It is presumed that in the acidic dye bath the effect of cationic amine group present in the structure of wool fiber molecules took place. The amount of color difference, among the mordanting agents, due to the increase of pH value, was highest for the Fe mordanting case. It seems, therefore, that the Fe mordanting is affected most by the pH value.

Analysis of naturally Dyed Textile Fabrics by using Aronia Extract (아로니아 추출물에 의한 직물의 천연염색과 염액의 Spectrum 분석)

  • This study examined the dyeing characteristics and spectrum of cotton and silk by using dyeing solution extracted from aronia. The value $L^{\ast}$ which indicates the brightness of cotton regardless of mordant increases with increasing pH from pH 3.5 to pH 10.5. The color difference value(${\Delta}E$) of the cotton was generally high in pH 3.5 regardless of mordant existence. The silk showed the highest ${\Delta}E$ value in pH 3.5 dye solution as cotton did. On the other hand, the silk with mordant dyed showed the highest ${\Delta}E$ value in pH 7. Silk fabrics dyed with Aronia solution turns out red in pH 3.5, blue in pH 7 and yellow in pH 10.5. This is because of the amino acid, one of the silk ingredients, combines with a part of anthocyanin to show blue. As the result of the spectrum measurement, the maximum absorption wavelength of Aronia solution was increased in the order of pH 10.5, pH 3.5 and pH 7, regardless of extraction temperature and mordant. The measurement results of color fastness to washing and color fastness to light are generally low. Therefore, there is a need for further study to improve color fatness in the future.

Color Constancy Algorithm using the Maximum Luminance Surface (최대휘도표면을 이용한 색 항상성 알고리즘)

  • This paper proposes a new color constancy algorithm using the maximum luminance surface. This method uses a linear model which represents the characteristics of human visual system. The most important process of linear model is the estimation of the spectral distributions of illumination from an input image. To estimate of the spectral distributions of illumination from an input image, we first estimate spectral distribution functions of reflected light on the brightest surface. Then, we estimate surface reflectance functions corresponding to the maximum luminance surface using a principal component analysis of the given munsell chips. We finally estimate the spectral distributions of illumination in an image. Using an estimated illumination, we recover an image by scaling it regularly for the lightness calibration. From the experimental results, the proposed method was effective in recovering the color images compared with others.
