Development of Seismic Fragility Curves for Slopes Using ANN-based Response Surface (인공신경망 기반의 응답면 기법을 이용한 사면의 지진에 대한 취약도 곡선 작성)

  • Usually the seismic stability analysis of slope uses the pseudostatic analysis considering the inertial force by the earthquake as a static load. Geostructures such as slope include the uncertainty of soil properties. Therefore, it is necessary to consider probabilistic method for stability analysis. In this study, the probabilistic stability analysis of slope considering the uncertainty of soil properties has been performed. The fragility curve that represents the probability of exceeding limit state of slope as a function of the ground motion has been established. The Monte Carlo Simulation (MCS) has been implemented to perform the probabilistic stability analysis of slope with pseudostatic analysis. A procedure to develop the fragility curve by the pseudostatic horizontal acceleration has been presented by calculating the probability of failure based on the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) based response surface technique that reduces the required time of MCS. The results showed that the proposed method can get the fragility curve that is similar to the direct MCS-based fragility curve, and can be efficiently used to reduce the analysis time.

  • In this paper, in order to overcome the disadvantage of wireless-based sensor network, a hybrid sensor network using wired and wireless linkage is proposed. Proposed a wired and wireless linkage hybrid sensor network can compensate the defect of poor transmission at the indoor wireless environment, and can be free from interference between a wireless LAN and Bluetooth of the same frequency bandwidth due to an attribute of low-loss transmission at the CATV network. Also, proposed a wired and wireless linkage hybrid sensor network make use of CATV network which is well-built infrastructure, is more efficient to design network, assure a stability and high reliability of the sensor network as providing a stability for an inaccuracy and a predictable transmission link for the existing wireless network.

  • The anti-collision system is one of units for effectual operation and safety in crane operation. Most of the system have used ultrasonic to measure position and to prevent collision of crane. But, the anti-collision system using ultrasonic is fallen the reliability of performance by the change of temperature and humidity. Hence, this study proposes neural network applied to anti-collision system to improve accuracy and stability of the measured distance data, and we evaluate performance of the system. In results of experiments, the proposed method was seen that stability and accuracy of data are improved than that of the temperature compensation method.

  • 최근 도시발달과 인구증가로 인하여 수자원의 중요성이 더욱 커지고 있으며 이를 효율적으로 이용하고자하는 노력은 계속되고 있다. 또한 전 세계가 가뭄과 홍수 등 물과 관련된 재해를 예방하기 위하여 지속적인 수자원계획관리가 이루어지고 있으며, 특히 댐은 수자원의 효율적인 관리와 안정적인 용수공급을 위하여 건설된 것으로서 유역의 수문특성에 따른 변동성이 고려되어야 한다. 따라서 댐의 최적운영을 위해서는 정확한 강우 예측과 이에 따른 유입량 예측이 선행되어야 하며, 유입량 예측을 위한 강우-유출과정을 모형화 하여야 한다. 그러나 모형화에 따르는 복잡한 과정과 수문자료의 비선형성과 비정규성으로 인하여 많은 오차가 발생할 수 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 개선하기 위하여 임하댐 유역에 신경망 이론을 강우-유출모형에 수학적으로 모형화 하였으며, 이를 통하여 효율적인 댐 운영을 위한 유입량 예측기법에 관한 기초연구를 수행하였다.

  • Ensemble is one of widely used methods for improving the performance of classification and prediction models. Two popular ensemble methods, Bagging and Boosting, have been applied with great success to various machine learning problems using mostly decision trees as base classifiers. This paper performs an empirical comparison of Boosted neural networks and traditional neural networks on bankruptcy prediction tasks. Experimental results on Korean firms indicated that the boosted neural networks showed the improved performance over traditional neural networks.

  • Tetrapod is one of the most widely used concrete armor units for rubble mound breakwaters. The calculation of the stability number of Tetrapods is necessary to determine the optimal weight of Tetrapods. Many empirical formulas have been developed to calculate the stability number of Tetrapods, from the Hudson formula in 1950s to the recent one developed by Suh and Kang. They were developed by using the regression analysis to determine the coefficients of an assumed formula using the experimental data. Recently, software engineering (or machine learning) methods are introduced as a large amount of experimental data becomes available, e.g. artificial neural network (ANN) models for rock armors. However, these methods are seldom used probably because they did not significantly improve the accuracy compared with the empirical formula and/or the engineers are not familiar with them. In this study, we propose an explicit method to calculate the stability number of Tetrapods using the weights and biases of an ANN model. This method can be used by an engineer who has basic knowledge of matrix operation without requiring knowledge of ANN, and it is more accurate than previous empirical formulas.

A Study on OSPF for Wireless Tactical Communication Networks (무선 전술 통신망을 위한 OSPF 적용 방안)

  • Recently, the military of Korea has been establishing the next generation wireless tactical communication system so called Tactical Information Communication Network (TICN). A routing protocol for TICN transport networks has to be able to select a path with high survivality, reliability, and stability while accommodating as many flows as possible with minimum QoS guarantees. The OSPF(Open Short Path First) used widely is determined to be the routing protocol for TICN. With the typical deployment practices OSPF, however, it cannot satisfy the requirements of TICN. In this paper, we propose a cost function for OSPF and a way to tune the OSPF protocol parameters for the TICN transport networks. Through simulations, it is shown that the OSPF with the proposed cost function provides better performance than the OSPF in terms of both the services provided to the applications and the network resources utilization.

  • We evaluated the availability of Origin-Destination Matrix from traffic counts Using conjugate gradient method to large scale networks by applying it to the networks in 246 zones. As a result of the analysis of the consistency of the model on Nationwide Networks, the upper and lower levels in model had the systematic relationship internally. From the analysis of the estimable power or the model according to the number of traffic counting links, the error in traffic volume had the estimable power in the range of permissible error. In addition, the estimable power of estimation of an Origin-Destination Matrix was more satisfactory than that of existing methods. We conclude that conjugate gradient method cab be applied to nationwide networks if we can make sure that the algorithm of the developed model is reliable by doing various kinds of experiment.

  • Recently, the new issues for the safety and the information delivery system in the ship are raised. The deployment and the efficient algorithms of deploying the wireless sensor networks instead of using the built-in wired networks or the setup of the new wired networks is more desirable than the deployment of the wired networks in a ship after its final production since it can reduce the cost and the time of the brand new wired networks by reshaping some of the internal structure of the ship. In this paper, the shipboard signal propagation measurement system based on the signature sequence-three way slave mode are designed and its measureed data are analysed after measuring the signal propagation characteristics. Consequently, it is expected that the reliable and cost-effective signal measurement system with the three way algorithm for the deployment of the shipboard wireless networks can be achieved.
