Backup path restoration scheme and delay time analysis in GMPLS network (GMPLS 망의 백업경로 복구구조 및 지연시간 분석)

  • On the optical network, it is important to build restoration scheme capable to network survivability in preparation of potential failure on communication route. This paper analyze the existing schemes on restoration of failure on the optical network, and propose deferred commit scheme to improve resource utilization and management efficiency. Also, the transfer flow of messages needed for transferring restoration signal are presented in a concrete way and delay time required by shared mesh restoration scheme is explained in a substantial way. Simulation-based comparative analysis of various schemes is performed.

Self-Healing Algorithm for The Restoration of Synchronous Optical Networks (동기식 광전송망 복구를 위한 자체 치유 알고리즘)

  • The paper proposes a distributed control self-healing algorithm for a line failure to improve the restoration time. This proposed self-healing algorithm acquired the fast restoration time by reducing the number of control messages and the queueing delay. And the reduction of queueing delay was attained by the ASC_NULL(Available Spare Channel_NULL) message which informs neighbor nodes that a source node has no available spare channel to reduce the waste of time during the rerouting. It is difficult for this proposed self-healing algorithm to be compared with other self-healing algorithms, because each self-healing algorithm has different simulation conditions. So, the performance of the proposed self-healing algorithm was compared with only NETRATS(NETwork Restoration Algorithm for Telecommunication Systems). The results of the simulation showed that the proposed self-healing algorithm was better than NETRATS in the restoration time.

  • 현재의 국제전화망의 상태 및 성능을 파악하기 위해서 교환기의 과금정보를 이용하여 국제망관리자료를 산출하는 방법 및 그 결과를 논하였다. 교환기에서 측정되는 망관리자료를 수집하는데는 시간이 많이 걸리며, 또 다양한 자료를 얻을 수 없기 때문에 망의 상태를 파악하기가 어렵다. 과금정보로부터 망관리자료를 추출한 결과, 통화량이 많아 중요하게 여겨지는 루트 및 착신지의 소통상황을 실시간으로 파악할 수가 있었으며, 문제가 되는 구간의 복구를 빨리 할 수 있는 상세한 자료를 얻을 수 있었다.

  • Increase of data traffic and the advent of new real-time services require to change from the traditional TDM-based (Time Division Multiplexing) networks to the optical networks that soft and dynamic configuration. Voice and lease line services are main service area of the traditional TDM-based networks. This optical network became main infrastructure that offer many channel that can convey data, video, and voice. To provide high resilience against failures, Packet-optical networks must have an ability to maintain an acceptable level of service during network failures. Fast and resource optimized lightpath restoration strategies are urgent requirements for the near future Packet-optical networks with a Generalized Multi-Protocol Label Switching(GMPLS) control plane. The goal of this paper is to provide packet-optical network with a hierarchical multi-layer recovery in order to fast and coordinated restoration in packet-optical network/GMPLS, focusing on new implementation information. The proposed schemes do not need an extension of optical network signaling (routing) protocols for support.

  • MPLS networks architectures have been prevailed as scalable approach to provide quality of service in the Internet. Many researches have been mainly focused on scalability and multi-path calculation scheme for failure restoration. However, the MPLS network have an scalability problem about traffic, and the existing failure restoration methods are wasted resources, and it has the problem that loss of a packet by a lot of delay occurs in too. Therefore in this paper, we propose a H-MPLS (Hierachical-Multiprotocol Label Switching)network for rapidly failure restorations and effective management of network extended. The proposed H-MPLS Network apply LSP multi-path routing algorithm and consists of several MPLS. After comparing the performance among the existing failure restoration methods with various network models, we use NS simulator in order to analyze the performance. Finally, we present an improvement scheme of the efficiency and scalability.

  • 링형 네트워크는 자연재해나 사고로 인한 시스템 절체 복구 기능을 수행 할 수 있어서 기간 망에서 오랫동안 사용되어왔다. 최근 WDM을 이용한 링형 네크워크에 대한 관심이 고조되면서, 특히 1심을 이용한 self-healing 또는 restoration 등에 관한 연구가 활발히 이루어지고 있다. 하지만 절체 복구 기능을 수행할 수 있는 소자들이 너무 고가이고, 시스템이 복잡해지는 문제점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 저가의 광 Add/Drop Mux, 리던던시(Redundancy)미디어 컨버터 칩과 이중 광모듈 을 사용한 복구 기능을 가지는 단심 양방향 링형 WDM-EPON 시스템을 구현하였다. Adaptation of p-Cycle considering QoS Constraints in WDM Networks (WDM 망에서 QoS 제약 조건을 고려한 p-Cycle 적용 방안)

  • In this paper, we propose an enhanced p-cycle (preconfigured protection cycle) scheme for WDM mesh networks with QoS constraints. In the previous researches on p-cycle, it is assumed that user's connection has a hi-directional connectivity and the same bandwidth on both direction. Therefore it is difficult to apply p-cycle based link protection to uni-directional connections for multicasting or asymmetric broadband multimedia communications with hi-directional connectivity. And it didn't consider QoS of backup path. We enhanced the p-cycles to accomodate uni-directional connections for multicasting or asymmetric bandwidth communications with hi-directional connectivity. And we propose a selection procedure of p-cycle to assure QoS of backup path. We were able to reduce a required backup bandwidth by applying a uni-directional p-cycle concept to asymmetric broadband multimedia communication environment. The proposed p-cycle selection procedure is applied to the U.S. sample network to evaluate whether the configured p-cycles can support QoS constraint of working path and backup path.

Design of Fault-Tolerant Node Architecture based on SCM in Optical Burst Switching Networks (광 버스트 스위칭 망에서 장애에 둔감한 SCM 기반의 노드 구조 설계)

  • In optical burst switching(OBS) networks, the ingress edge router assembles packets in the same class queue into the appropriate size of burst. A burst control packet(BCP) is generated for channel reservation of corresponding data burst and sent earlier than the corresponding data burst with an offset time. Offset time is determined considering the number of hops from source to destination and the required quality of service(QoS). After offset time, the burst data is passed through tile pre-configured optical switches without any O/E/O conversion. But a failure in OBS networks may lead to the loss of bursts until the ingress nodes receive the failure indication signal. This results in a significant degradation in QoS. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a fault-tolerant node architecture based on sub-carrier multiplexing to reduce the effects of failure in OBS networks. The Performance of the proposed fault-tolerant node architecture exhibits considerable improvement as compared with the previous ones.
