Development of Cultural Content using a Markerless Tracking-based Augmented Reality (마커리스 트래킹 기반 증강현실을 이용한 문화콘텐츠 개발)

  • Recently, the quality of cultural experience can be improved through a stereoscopic information service provided by the latest mobile-based Information Telecommunication technology without the human cultural commentators, which was used in order to enhance the understanding of our cultural heritage. The purpose of this paper is to produce contents that introduce cultural heritage using the Android-based GPS and augmented reality. In this paper we propose a culture content creation method that is based on location information such as user/cultural anomalies using GPS and augmented reality based on Markerless Tracking. Marker Detection Technology and Markerless Tracking Technology are used for smart phone's rapid recognition of augmented real world and accurate recognition according to the state of the cultural heritage. Also, the Google Map of Android is used to locate the user. The strength of this method lies in that it can be used for a variety of subjects while the existing methods are limited to certain kinds of augmented reality contents.

The Study on Marker-less Tracking Algorithm Performance based on Mobile Augmented Reality (모바일 증강현실 기반의 마커리스 추적 알고리즘 성능 연구)

  • Augmented reality (AR) is augmented virtual information on the real world with real-time. And user can interact with information. In this paper, Marker-less tracking algorithm has been studied, for implement the augmented reality system on a mobile environment. In marker-less augmented reality, users do not need to attach the markers, and constrained the location. So, it's convenient to use. For marker-less tracking, I use the SURF algorithm based on feature point extraction in this paper. The SURF algorithm can be used on mobile devices because of the computational complexity is low. However, the SURF algorithm optimization work is not suitable for mobile devices. Therefore, in this paper, in order to the suitable tracking in mobile devices, the SURF algorithm was tested in a variety of environments. And ways to optimize has been studied.

Development of Augmented Reality Character System based on Markerless Tracking (마커리스 트래킹 기반 증강현실 캐릭터 시스템 개발)

  • In this study, real-time character navigation using AR lens developed by Nreal is developed. Real-time character navigation is not possible with general marker-based AR because NPC characters must guide while moving in an unspecified space. To replace this, a markerless AR system was developed using Digital Twin technology. Existing markerless AR is operated based on hardware such as GPS, gyroscope, and magnetic sensor, so location accuracy is low and processing time in the system is long, resulting in low reliability in real-time AR environment. In order to solve this problem, using the SLAM technique to construct a space into a 3D object and to construct a markerless AR based on point location, AR can be implemented without any hardware intervention in a real-time AR environment. This real-time AR environment configuration made it possible to implement a navigation system using characters in tourist attractions such as Suncheon Bay Garden and Suncheon Drama Filming Site.

  • Many AR (Augmented Reality) applications have been interested in a marker-less tracking since the tracking methods give camera poses without attaching explicit markers. In this paper, we propose a new marker-less page recognition and tracking algorithm for an AR book application such as DigilogBook. The proposed method only requires orthogonal images of pages, which need not to be trained for a long time, and the algorithm works in real-time. The page recognition is done in two steps by using SIFT (Scale Invariant Feature Transform) descriptors and the comparison evaluation function. And also, the method provides real-time tracking with 25fps ~ 30fps by separating the page recognition and the frame-to-frame matching into two multi-cores. The proposed algorithm will be extended to various AR applications that require multiple objects tracking.

  • 스마트폰의 도입으로 인하여 증강현실이 널리 알려짐에 따라 대중들의 관심은 이에 집중되고 있으며 휴대성으로 인하여 모바일 기기에서의 증강현실 연구가 하나의 흐름으로 자리 잡고 있다. 기존의 증강 현실 관련 응용 기술들이 많이 연구되고 있지만 실제 게임에서 사용되고 있는 인공 지능과 결합된 연구는 이루어지고 있지 않다. 본 논문에서는 스마트 폰의 기능중 하나인 3축 가속도 센서를 이용하여 증강 현실 환경에서 3D 에이전트의 상태를 동적으로 변환하는 인공 지능 알고리즘을 제안한다. 인공지능이 적용된 에이전트의 상태를 제어하기 위한 전통적인 방식으로서 사용자가 직접 입력해 주거나 이를 인식하는데 마커를 사용하여 해결하였다. 본 논문에서는 증강 현실 구현을 위해 마커리스 추적 기술을 사용하였고 3축 가속도 센서를 이용하여 동적으로 에이전트의 상태를 변환하도록 하였다.

  • 최근 증강현실(Augmented Reality, AR) 기술의 중요성이 인식되면서 다양한 분야의 서비스에 기술 도입사례가 등장하고 있다. AR에 있어 마커 검출 기술은 가장 기본이 되는 중요한 기술이다. 하지만 마커 기반의 증강현실 시스템은 그 오차가 매우 크고 이로 인해 센서정보와 같은 다양한 보조적 정보를 요구하게 된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 마커사용의 한계를 극복하기 위한 마커리스 트래킹(Markerless Tracking Technology)기술을 연구 하여 실시간 영상에서 목표로 하는 사물을 추적하여 증강현실 서비스로 도입하기 위한 시스템은 설계하였다. 본 시스템은 기존에 도입된 명함 분석, 자동차 번호판 인식 등 제한된 서비스의 한계를 극복하고 보다 다양한 연구 분야에 활용될 것이다.

  • 스마트폰의 도입으로 인하여 증강현실이 널리 알려짐에 따라 대중들의 관심은 이에 집중되고 있으며 휴대성으로 인하여 모바일기기에서의 증강현실 연구가 하나의 흐름으로 자리 잡고 있다. 기존의 증강현실과 인공지능이 결합된 연구들은 주로 로봇공학이 많은 비율을 차지하고 있으며 게임에 접목된 연구들은 부족한 실정이다. 또한 인공지능이 적용된 에이전트들의 움직임을 위한 데이터들은 아직까지 사용자가 직접 입력해주거나 이를 인식하는데 마커를 사용하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 마커리스 추적 기술을 사용하여 생성한 데이터를 인공지능부분에서 사용하며 증강현실 기반의 인공지능이 적용된 에이전트를 위한 게임 시스템을 제안한다. 그리고 이를 아이폰 모바일 기기에서 구현하였으며 인식율, 정확도를 측정하여 본 시스템을 검증하였다.

Development of Character Goods Content Utilizing Marker-based Augmented Reality (마커기반 증강현실을 활용한 캐릭터 굿즈 콘텐츠 개발)

  • Recently, there has been growing interest in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, with a particular focus on the advancement of augmented reality (AR) devices. However, there is a shortage of AR content. Augmented reality operates through marker-based and markerless methods. The marker-based approach involves using a camera to capture images that serve as markers, enhancing them through AR principles. To address the scarcity of AR content and improve the quality of character goods, this study proposes integrating AR technology into character goods. The character industry is expanding each year, leading to a diverse range of character goods. Character acrylic stands, among these goods, leverage game, webtoon, and animation character IPs for sales. To enhance the design process, we utilized the character image as a marker, allowing for the creation of content that aligns with the characteristics of the character IP. We selected a webtoon character and developed AR content, incorporating features such as voice, speech bubbles, and an introduction to the webtoon, tailored to the webtoon's characteristics. This study demonstrates the potential of AR to present visual and auditory information, paving the way for a variety of products, including diverse content. We anticipate that utilizing this research will lead to the emergence of products encompassing various contents.

  • As the shipbuilding and offshore plant industries grow larger and more complex, their maintenance and inspection systems become more important. Recently, maintenance and inspection systems based on augmented reality have been attracting much attention for improving worker's understanding of work and efficiency, but it is often difficult to work with because accurate matching between the augmented model and reality information is not. To solve this problem, marker based AR technology is used to attach a specific image to the model. However, the markers get damaged due to the characteristic of the shipbuilding and offshore plant industry, and the camera needs to be able to detect the entire marker clearly, and thus requires sufficient space to exist between the operator. In order to overcome the limitations of the existing AR system, in this study, a markerless AR was adopted to accurately recognize the actual model of the pipe system that occupies the most processes in the shipbuilding and offshore plant industries. The matching methodology. Through this system, it is expected that the twist phenomenon of the augmented model according to the attitude of the real worker and the limited environment can be improved.
