A Study on Characteristics of Drag Reduction Additive under High Temperature Range (고온영역에서 계면활성제의 마찰저감 성능 특성에 관한 연구)

  • Overall total length of hydraulic pipe to transport the hot water in the domestic district heating network is above 3,000 Km approximately. This long pipe network requires a lots of the transport pumping power by surface friction of fluid. In this study, the drag reduction(DR) of Amin Oxide $C_{18}$ as non-ionic surfactant according to the fluid velocity, temperature and surfactant concentration under the condition of above $80^{\circ}C$ fluid temperature were investigated experimentally. Results showed that new amin oxide $C_{18}$ surfactant had DR of maximum 30% in fluid temperature of $80^{\circ}C$ and had 15% DR in fluid temperature over $100^{\circ}$ under short time test condition. And amine oxide had 155 hours duration time to keep the DR characteristic in the fluid temperature of $80^{\circ}$ and 1000 ppm concentration. But duration time of DR was decreased when fluid temperature increased.

  • Vibrations in the pipe system trigger fatigue-related issues and lead to fatal other problems caused by pipe damage. There are numerous studies to analyze and reduce the cause of pipe vibration, among which a small number of studies are being conducted on pipe vibration reduction using friction supports. The study of friction supports, however, focused only on predicting and evaluating the performance of the friction supports and seldomly considered the design perspective of the install location of the supports. Therefore, this study intends to suggest the optimization process for finding the best installation region of friction support to attenuate the vibration of entire piping system. The optimal position of the friction support is predicted only by linear analysis to guarantee optimization efficiency in the design process. The designed friction support location is verified by time domain analysis.

  • A POD analysis based on time-resolved PIV measurements in a circulating water channel has been conducted to identify the skin friction reduction mechanism of outer-layer vertical blades. A recent PIV measurement indicated 2.73% and 7.95% drag reduction in the blade plane and the blade-in-between plane, respectively. In the present study, the influence of vertical blades array upon the characteristics of the turbulent coherent structures was analyzed by the POD method. It is observed that the vortical structures are cut and deformed by the blades array and that their temporal evolution is strongly associated with the skin-friction drag reduction mechanism in the turbulent boundary layer flow.

  • 대형 상용 엔진에서 발생하는 유효 도시 마력의 약 4~15%는 마찰 손실을 통해서 사라지며 마찰 손실 중 약 40~55%는 엔진 실린더와 피스톤 사이의 마찰에 의하여 발생하여, 엔진 전체에서 발생하는 마찰 손실 중 가장 많은 부분을 차지하고 있다. 이 연구에서는 엔진 실린더 라이너의 온도 분포 개선을 통해 라이너를 따라 유막을 형성하고 있는 윤활유의 적정 점성을 유지시키는 방법을 제시하고자 한다. 피스톤-라이너에서 발생하는 마찰 특성은 피스톤의 행정 위치에 따라서 접촉 마찰과 유막에 의한 마찰로 구분되며 이에 따라 요구되는 윤활유의 점성 특성 또한 달라진다. 먼저 해석 모델을 통하여 실린더 라이너 내부 온도 분포 특성을 확인한 후 피스톤 마찰 특성을 고려한 적정 온도 분포를 고찰하며 실린더 라이너에 열저항 코팅을 통해서 이를 구현하였다. 또한 실린더-피스톤 간의 마찰/윤활 해석을 통하여 열저항 코팅의 마찰 개선효과를 확인하였다.

  • Stay cable has a strong axial rigidity due to large initial tension and, on the other hand, it has a weak laterally flexural rigidity. Wind loads or traffic loads cause the cables to vibrate significantly and affect the mechanical properties and the performance of cables of cable-stayed bridge (CSB). Therefore, the development of vibration reduction design is an urgent task to control the vibration vulnerable long-span bridges. As Friction damper (FD) shows to reduce the amplitude and duration time of vibration of cable of CSB from measured date in field test, friction damper can be considered that it is effective device significantly to reduce the amplitude and duration time in vibration of cable of CSB under traffic load, wind load and so on. Vibration characteristics of cable can change according to manufacturing method and type of established form. Nevertheless, analysis method in this study can present the design of friction damper for vibration reduction of cable of cable-stayed bridge from now on.

Analysis of stick-slip characteristics of materials used for mechanical and electronic components (기계전자 부품재료의 스틱슬립 특성 평가방법에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we analyzed the stick slip characteristics through friction experiments on materials used in mechanical and electronic products, and propose improvements to reduce abnormal noise generated inside refrigerators. To analyze the stick slip phenomenon of the materials, we fabricated a friction testing device and conducted friction experiments. Additionally, we measured the vibration and noise levels of internal components to analyze the occurrence and location of abnormal noise inside the refrigerator. By comparing the results of the refrigerator's phenomenon analysis and friction experiment, we confirm that the abnormal noise occurring inside the refrigerator is caused by the stick slip phenomenon of internal components. Finally, to propose improvements for abnormal noise reduction, we performed friction experiments using the Taguchi method and validated the performance of the proposed improvements by applying them to refrigerators.

Full Scale Frictional Resistance Reduction Effect of a Low Frictional Marine Anti-fouling Paint based on a Similarity Scaling Method (상사축척법에 기반한 저마찰 선박 방오도료의 실선 마찰저항 저감성능 추정)

  • In this study, a series of full-scale extrapolation procedures based on the Granville's similarity scaling method, which was employed by Schultz (2007), is modified and then applied to compare the resistance performance between two different anti-fouling coatings. As an analysis example, the low frictional AF coating based on a novel skin-friction reducing polymer named FDR-SPC (Frictional Drag Reduction Self-Polishing Copolymer), which had been invented by the present author, is employed. The low frictional coating, which gives 25.4% skin frictional reduction in lab test, is estimated to give 18.2% total resistance reduction for a 176k DWT bulk carrier.

  • 본 연구에서는 pin-on-disk 마찰 시험기를 통하여 Hexagonal 배열 $40{\mu}m$ Dimple 패턴의 효과를 실험하였다. 마찰 실험은 미끄럼 속도가 $0.06{\sim}0.34m/s$로 하였으며 마찰하중은 $20{\sim}100\;N$의 범위로 하였고, Dimple의 밀도는 $10{\sim}25%$의 범위로 제작하여 실험을 행하였다. 일반적으로 속도가 증가하고 하중이 감소할수록 마찰계수는 감소하는 경향을 나타내었으며, Dimple에 의한 마찰저감 효과는 속도가 $0.14{\sim}0.26m/s$의 범위에서 나타났다. $40{\mu}m$ Hexagonal 배열 Dimple 패턴의 마찰 특성에서는 밀도가 12.5%에서 가장 좋은 경향을 나타내었다.

  • 산업현장에서 기계류 사용의 증가에 따라 소음 및 진동에 의한 근로자들의 소음성 난청 등의 직업병이 증가하는 실정이다. 특히 산업현장 등에서 널리 사용되는 공기압축기는 고압ㆍ고속의 공기 유동으로부터 발생하는 소음과 피스톤, 스크류 등의 진동 및 마찰에 의해 큰 소음이 발생하는 대표적 산업기계로 인식되고 있다. 이러한 고소음 기계류에 의한 소음원의 차폐 또는 저감을 위한 공학적 대응능력을 향상시켜 소음을 저감하고 국제적 기계류의 안전규제에 대하여 능동적인 대처능력을 확보하기 위함이 본 연구의 목적이다.
