A Learning Method of Stack and Queue through Solving Maze Exploration Problems with Robots (로봇의 미로 탐색 문제해결을 통한 스택과 큐 학습 방안)

  • ICT education guidelines revised in 2005 reinforce computer science elements such as algorithm, data structure, and programming covering all schools. And Ministry of Education emphasizes STEAM education. Most important is that "How instruct them". This means necessity of contents. So this paper suggests learning method of Stack and Queue using LEGO MINDSTORMS NXT. The main purpose is that how stack and queue are used, when robot explore realistic maze. Teaching and learning strategies are algorithm, flowchart, and NXT-G programming. Simple maze has path in left or right, but complex maze has three-way intersection. These are developed by authors. Master robot explores maze and push stack, and then return to entrance using stack. Master robot explores maze and transmits path to slave's queue. And then slave robot drives without exploration. Students can naturally learn principles and applications of them. Through these studies, it can improves ability of logical and creative thinking. Furthermore it can apply to ICT and STEAM education.

  • 본 논문에서는 임베디드 시스템의 제어를 위해 동기화 언어인 에스테렐로 개발된 소프트웨어가 소프트웨어 요구사항을 만족하는지 확인하기 위한 Model-based Test(MBT) 프레임 워크를 제안한다. 제안된 프레임 워크를 기반으로 작성한 프로토 타입의 테스트 도구는 요구사항 모델을 창조하여 On-the-fly 방법을 통해 테스트 케이스를 랜덤하게 자동으로 생성하여 소프트웨어에 대하 테스트를 자동으로 수행한다. 간단한 case study로 레고 마인드스톰 로봇 제어 소프트웨어에 MBT를 수행하고 그 결과를 확인한다.

  • 실외에서의 위치추적은 GPS(Global Positioning System) 등의 다양한 방법이 활용가능하다. 하지만 실내에서는 사용이 어려워 비전, RFID 및 Zigbee 등을 활용한 다양한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 비교적 비용 효과적으로 구축이 가능한 수동형 RFID 태그를 기반 이동형 로봇의 위치 추적 알고리즘을 제안하도록 한다. 총 7 종의 태그에 대하여 각 태그가 가지고 있는 특성을 실험을 통하여 분석하고 분석한 결과에 따라 태그를 배치하여 효과적으로 로봇의 이동에 따른 위치 추적 및 이동방향 예측방법을 기술한다. 제안하는 방법을 실험실 환경에서 레고 마인드스톰을 활용하여 그 효용성을 나타내도록 한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 휴대폰과 LEGO Mindstorms NXT를 이용한 원격제어로봇 개발 모델을 제안하고 이를 기반으로 원격제어 로봇을 설계하였다. 제안하는 원격제어로봇 개발 방법은 LEGO Mindstorms NXT를 이용한 하드웨어 설계, 다양한 Tool을 이용한 소프트웨어 설계, Host System의 응용프로그램 개발로 구성되며, Host System으로는 WPAN Platform을 탑재한 휴대폰을, 통신 방식으로는 블루투스를 적용한다.

  • Traditional programming education lacked consideration of contents, methods and learners. In particular, the importance of programming education has been decreased in school because almost no suitable teaching has been executed for elementary school students. To solve these problems, this study proposed the use of MINDSTORMS that is a programming education tool suitable for elementary school students, and verified its effects on learners' creativity. The results of this study show that the tool is highly effective in improving students' creativity. The objectives of programming education are not only learning programming languages but also improving problem-solving ability, logical thinking and creativity. We must offer environment, in which students can control their own learning activity and solve problems by themselves. In addition, MINDSTORMS can be a very useful and suitable tool for programming education.

  • Robot Curriculum based education in Insects Robot help elementary school students better understand how a robot works. This robot curriculum is aimed at elementary school students in fifth grade. This study progressed with LEGO(R) MINDSTORMS(R) NXT, departed 6 groups, reached the insect's movement, designed robot like insects. This curriculum enhanced discussion prowess and improved the ability of building robot. During this study, most of the students were attracted to the action of the robot-like insect's movement.

  • 디지털 테크놀로지의 비약적인 발전으로 우리는 연령과 계층을 막론하고 실생활 측면에서 사용자 환경의 변화, 디자인 시각의 변화 등 많은 변화의 사례들을 인지할 수 있다. 그 중에서도 최근 유아들의 전유물이었던 완구 시장이 학생, 성인들 대상으로 마케팅이 확장되면서 기존에 없었던 보다 지능적인 시스템과 다양한 콘텐츠를 보유하고 혁신적인 인터페이스를 갖춘 디지털 인텔리전트 브릭(Digital Intelligent Brick)완구가 시장을 빠르게 확대해 나가고 있다. 이처럼 아날로그 브릭에서 디지털 브릭으로의 새로운 변화를 주도한 대표적인 예로는 MIT와 공동연구로 개발된 로보틱스 인벤션 시스템(Robotics Invention System)인 레고(Lego)의 '마인드스톰'을 들 수 있다. 인텔리전트 브릭 시스템 완구는 Stud와 Tube의 Elements로 이루어진 기본적이고 반복적인 재료의 속성에서 시스템의 무한한 가변성과 사용자의 다양한 조건에 맞춘 인터페이스를 적용함으로써 창의적 결과물로의 확장성을 나타내고 있다. 본 연구에서는 디지털 테크놀로지를 기반으로 한 사용자중심 콘텐츠 속성을 지닌 인텔리전트 브릭 시스템에서의 시스템 구조 가변성 및 인터페이스 디자인의 확장성, 그리고 사용자 인터랙션 측면에 관하여 분석해 보고자 한다. 이를 토대로 인텔리전트 브릭 시스템이 향후 디지털 디자인 산업의 다양한 측면에서 보다 적극적으로 활용될 수 있는 기초를 제시하는 데 본 연구의 목적이 있다고 할 것이다.

  • This paper deals with the selection method of effective engineering design problem based on LEGO Mindstorm NXT for basic design education. By YouTube case study of various LEGO-based engineering designs for olympic sports, performance criteria have been developed including programming complexity, structural complexity, sensor/actuator complexity and variety of game operation. Programming complexity includes range of programming code length and possible program variety. Structural complexity includes variety of structural elements such as length, shape, weight, and volume to overcome design restrictions. Sensor/actuator complexity includes variety of sensor used and number of possible actuator assemblies. Variety of game operation includes game complexity and required creativity to make LEGO robots. Based on these performance criteria, four representative sports were selected as the candidates for effective engineering design problem. Finally, feasibility and attributes of each candidate were verified by real implementation examples.

  • Logic lays the foundation of Mathematics and the development of Mathematics is dependent on critical thinking. So it is important that school mathematics helps students develop their logical and critical thinking ability for both mathematics learning and problem solving in general. MINDSTORMS, a LEGO based programming activity kit, is an effective teaching and learning tool that can be used to enhance logical and critical thinking in students. This study focused on measuring the growth of students' ability to think logically and critically when they used MINDSTORMS activities to learn programming. In addition, we investigated how the students' logical and critical thinking changed from the MINDSTORMS learning experience. The study confirmed that the programming activities using MINDSTORMS help to enhance logical and critical thinking in students. The students attitude about logical and critical thinking became more positive and the activities helped to engage students to think logically and critically. This type of programming activities should be valuable in mathematics education and it should be included in a general mathematics curriculum.

  • To help programming learning, we have designed a robot programming course that improves complex cognitive abilities. The developed course was implemented in college programming classes and educational effects were analysed. While students are learning through LEGO Mindstorms NXT and NXT-G software, the students' problem solving abilities have been enhanced. The developed robot programming course gives positive effects on learners' problem solving abilities. It means that the developed course helps a learner in a cognitive domain.
