Fatigue Crack Growth Behavior of a Magnesium-Based Composite (마그네슘 금속복합재의 피로균열거동해석)

  • The effects of heat treatment and fiber orientation on tensile strength and fatigue behavior were studied in a continuously reinforced. magnesium-based composite Following an earlier TEM investigation, specimens were thermally aged to modified the interfacial zone between the alumina fibers and the magnesium alloy matrix. From the tensile experimental results, the ultimate tensile strength of the aged specimens were lower than that of the as-fabricated due to weak fiber-matrix interfacial strength with chemical reaction during the thermal processing. The fatigue crack growth experiments were conducted with specimens having the fiber orientation normal to the crack growth direction (longitudinal) and also specimens with the fibers oriented parallel to the crack growth direction(transverse). A comparison of the fatigue crack growth behavior indicates that aged longitudinal specimens are more resistant to fatigue crack growth the as-fabricated longitudinal specimens. Conversely, as-fabricated transverse specimens are more resistant to fatigue crack growth than aged transverse specimens.

Structural Behavior Evaluation of Mg-GFRP Composite Single-Lap Bonded Joints With Different End Shapes (한 끝단 형상에 따른 마그네슘 합금과 유리섬유 복합소재 단일겹치기 본드 조인트 거동 분석)

  • In this study, the strength of magnesium-GFRP/epoxy single-lap bonded joints are experimentally evaluated with different end shapes. In order to achieve this, four different single-lap joints with different end shapes are fabricated and the failure load is measured under tensile loading tests. From the test results, the single-lap joint with a square end exhibits the lowest failure load while the single-lap joint with reverse tapering and a spew fillet has the highest stress values. It has 11.1% higher failure strength than the single-lap joint with a square end.

Fabrication and Characterization of CNFs/Magnesium Composites Prepared by Liquid Pressing Process (액상가압공정을 이용한 CNF/Mg 복합재료의 제조 및 특성평가)

  • Carbon nano fibers (CNFs) reinforced magnesium alloy (AZ91) matrix composites have been fabricated by liquid pressing process. In order to improve the dispersibility of CNFs and the wettability with magnesium alloy melt, CNFs were mixed with submicron sized SiC particles ($SiC_p$). Also, the mixture of CNFs and $SiC_p$ were coated with Ni by electroless plating. In liquid pressing process, AZ91 melts have been pressed hydrostatically and infiltrated into three reinforcement preforms of only CNFs, the mixture of CNFs and $SiC_p$ (CNF+$SiC_p$), and Ni coated CNFs and $SiC_p$ ((CNF+$SiC_p$)/Ni). Some CNFs agglomerates were observed in only CNFs reinforced composite. In cases of the composites reinforce with CNF+$SiC_p$ and (CNF+$SiC_p$)/Ni, CNFs were dispersed homogeneously in the matrix, which resulted in the improvement of mechanical properties. The compressive strengths of CNF+$SiC_p$ and (CNF+$SiC_p$)/Ni reinforced composites were 38% and 28% higher than that of only CNFs composite.

  • 마그네슘 및 마그네슘 합금은 차세대 경량 구조 재료로서 많은 각광을 받고 있지만, 상대적으로 높은 반응성과 낮은 부식저항성으로 인해 사용에 제한이 있어왔다. 최근 연구결과에 따르면, 상용으로 널리 쓰이는 AZ91 마그네슘합금에 Ca과 Y을 복합 첨가하였을 경우 마그네슘합금의 발화저항성을 크게 향상시키는 것으로 알려져 있어 마그네슘합금의 적용분야를 확대할 수 있을 것으로 많은 기대를 받고 있다. 그러나 이러한 합금이 실제적으로 적용되기 위해서는 반드시 내식성에 대한 평가와 연구가 수반되어야 하며, 이를 통해 부식거동에 대한 메커니즘을 규명함으로써 고내식 합금 개발을 위한 연구로 이어질 수 있도록 해야 한다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 기존의 AZ91D 합금과 Ca, Y이 복합 첨가된 modified AZ91D 합금 다이캐스트 주조재에 대하여 내식성을 평가 및 비교하고 부식 메커니즘을 규명하기 위한 미세조직 분석 및 부식거동 평가를 실시하였다. 본 연구결과에 따르면, AZ91D 합금 주조재에 Ca과 Y을 복합첨가한 합금은 발화저항성 뿐만 아니라 내식성도 크게 향상되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 내식성의 향상은 Ca과 Y의 첨가에 따른 Fe와 같은 불순물의 영향 감소 및 Ca과 Y이 포함된 이차상의 형성으로 인한 상과 기지간의 부식 전위의 차이 감소로 인한 미세 갈바닉 부식 발생의 감소 효과에 기인한 것으로 판단된다.

Physical and Mechanical Properties of Magnesium Oxide Matrix depending on Addition Ratio of Magnesium Chloride (염화마그네슘 첨가율에 따른 산화마그네슘 경화체의 물리 및 역학적 특성)

  • Recently, for longevity of resident building, the main trend is that the change of the inside space organization of resident building from wall construction to rhamen construction, which resulted in increase in use of lightweight composite panel. Thus, in this study, authors analyzed the engineering property of oxide of magnesium depending on the magnesium chloride addition ratio. The results of this research is expected to contribute on providing a fundamental material for the surface materials of lightweight composite panel. As the result of the experiment, as fluidity increased, air content decreased and initial set and final set as the magnesium chloride addition ratio increase. In the aspect of flexural strength and compressive strength, the test specimen showed the highest strength at 40% of the magnesium chloride addition ratio. At 20% of the magnesium chloride addition ratio, the test specimen showed the lowest water absorption rate. As the magnesium chloride addition ratio increases, the expansibility tends to increase as well in the aspect of shrinkage strain. After observing microstructure, we can see hydration products in the form of needle. It appeared high flexural strength because the hydration products have mineral fibrous tissue shape, which also contribute to the cause of the expansibility.

  • In this study, the ignition temperature of the Al-Ti-C reaction system, the microstructure and the mechanical properties of the TiC/Mg composite which produced by the self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS) followed by stir casting process were investigated. Mg based composite with uniformly dispersed 0, 10, 20, and 30 vol.% TiC were fabricated, and higher volume fraction of TiC reinforced composite showed superior compressive strength and wear resistance as compared with Mg matrix. It is attributed to the less contamination, defects, impurities in TiC/Mg composite by the in-situ SHS yield effective load transfer from the matrix to the reinforcement.

Effect of Combined Addition of Ca and Y on Aging Behavior of Extruded AZ91 Magnesium Alloy (Ca과 Y 복합 첨가가 AZ91 마그네슘 압출재의 시효 거동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of combined addition of Ca and Y on the precipitation and age-hardening behavior of an extruded AZ91 alloy by conducting the aging treatment at 200 ℃ for hot-extruded AZ91 and AZ91-0.3Ca-0.2Y alloys. In the AZ91 alloy, many Mg17Al12 discontinuous precipitate (DP) bands formed during air cooling immediately after extrusion are present, whereas in the AZ91-0.3Ca-0.2Y alloy, a few DP bands and numerous Al2Y, Al8Mn4Y, and Al2Ca phase particles are distributed along the extrusion direction. The peak-aging time of the AZ91-0.3Ca-0.2Y alloy is 16 hours, twice that of the AZ91 alloy. Although both alloys have similar hardness before aging treatment, the hardness after peak-aging treatment (i.e., peak hardness) of the AZ91-0.3Ca-0.2Y alloy is higher than that of the AZ91 alloy, as 93.1 and 88.7 Hv, respectively. The microstructures of both peak-aged alloys comprise DPs and continuous precipitates (CPs). However, the peak-aged AZ91-0.3Ca-0.2Y alloy has a smaller amount of DPs and a larger amount of CPs than the peak-aged AZ91 alloy. Additionally, the inter-particle spacings of DPs and CPs in the former are significantly narrower than those in the latter. These results demonstrate that the addition of small amounts of Ca and Y to a commercial AZ91 alloy considerably affects the formation rate, size, and amount of CPs and DPs during aging and resultant age-hardening behavior.

Effects of Magnesium and Sulfate Ions on the Sulfate Attack Resistance of Alkali-activated Materials (알칼리 활성화 결합재 모르타르의 황산염 침식 저항성에 미치는 마그네슘 및 황산 이온의 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of sulfate (${SO_4}^{2-}$) and magnesium ($Mg^{2+}$) ions on sulfate resistance of Alkali-activated materials using Fly ash and Ground granulated blast furnace slag (GGBFS). In this research, 30%, 50% and 100% of GGBFS was replaced by sodium silicate modules ($Ms(SiO_2/Na_2O)$, molar ratio, 1.0, 1.5 and 2.0). In order to investigate the effects of $Mg^{2+}$ and ${SO_4}^{2-}$, compression strength, weight change, lengh expansion of the samples were measured in 10% sodium sulfate ($Na_2SO_4$), 10%, 5% and 2.5% magnesium sulfate ($MgSO_4$), 10% magnesium nitrate ($Mg(NO_3)_2$), 10% [magnesium chloride ($MgCl_2$) + sodium sulfate ($Na_2SO_4$)] and 10% [magnesium nitrate $(Mg(NO_3)_2$ + sodium sulfate ($Na_2SO_4$)] solution, respectively and X-ray diffraction analysis was conducted after each experiment. As a result, when $Mg^{2+}$ and ${SO_4}^{2-}$ coexist, degradation of compressive strength and expansion of the sample were caused by sulfate erosion. It was found that the reaction of $Mg^{2+}$ with Calcium Silicate Hydrate (C-S-H) occurred and $Ca^{2+}$ was produced. Then the Gypsum ($CaSO_4{\cdot}2H_2O$) was formed due to reaction between $Ca^{2+}$ and ${SO_4}^{2-}$, and also Magnesium hydroxide ($Mg(OH)_2$, Brucite) was produced by the reaction between $Mg^{2+}$ and $OH^-$.

  • 마그네슘이 자동차 경량화에 관심이 되는 이유는 근본적으로 CAFE 규제와 같이 경량화를 통한 화석연료의 소모를 크게 억제해야 한다는 사회적인 규제이나, 지난 10여년간의 기술발전으로 내식성이 나쁘다거나 취급이 위험한 금속이라는 인식이 크게 개선된 데에도 있다. 다른 경량금속에 대한 Mg 지금 가격의 비교조건이 호전되었고 향후 원소 재공급의 다변화가 추진되고 있는 것도 환경을 변화시킨 중요한 요인이다. 그간 중요한 경량화 대체 재료로 연구투자가 많았던 유기고분자 재료 및 FRP 등과 같은 복합재료는 폐기부품의 재활용이 어려움 때문에 호나경친화적인 단점이 부각되어, 이 소재의 증가가 주춤해 있다. 마그네슘의 경우에는 재활용이 가능하고, 진동흡수효과가 매우 커서 소음발생을 크게 줄일 뿐만 아니라, 주행 및 내구성시험에서 치수안정성이 좋고 많은 종류의 전자기기 사용에 의한 전자파 차폐효과도 큰 장점을 가지고 있다. 본 고에서는 Mg 다이캐스팅으로 자동차부품의 경량화 현황과 선진국에서 보는 전망을 미국을 중심으로 정리하고, 이와 관련한 Mg 다이캐스팅으로 자동차부품의 경량화 현황과 선진국에서 보는 전망을 미국을 중심으로 정리하고, 이와 관련한 Mg 기술적인 이슈와 시장전망도 서술하였다. 그리고 현재 우리나라의 연구계와 부품업계에서 추진하고 있는 연구개발 동향을 자동차 업계에 소개하는 의미도 있다. 이처럼 우리나라의 현황을 정리해 보는 것은 국내 자동차 산업이 국제적인 경쟁을 하고 있고 Mg기술과 원료확보에서 일본의 견제를 받고 있는 우리의 현실에서도 필요한 작업으로 생각된다.값들로 구성되는 형상을 내구 성능, 성형성등을 고려하여 최종 형상으로 결정한다. 내구성능의 예측은 금속부품의 내구수명 예측에 널리 이용되고 있는 방법이 방진 고무부품의 경우에도 적용 가능한지를 검토하고, 방진 고무부품에도 일반적으로 적용될수 있는 내구수명 예측방안의 개발 가능성을 타진해 보았다. 본 연구의 목표는 시제품을 제작하기 이전에 설계된 부품에 대한 스프링 상수 및 내구특성을 체계적으로 규명하여 제품 시험의 횟수를 줄이고, 보다 정밀한 제품을 제작할 수 있도록 하기 위한 것이다.세포수는 초기 배반포기배에서 팽윤 배반포기배로 진행됨에 따라 두배에서 세배 정도 증가되었음을 알 수 있었다. 또한, differential labelling과 bisbenzimide기법에서 얻어진 각각의 총세포수를 비교하였을 때 총세포수는 발달의 진행 정도에 따라 증가되며 그와 동시에 동일한 군 간의 세포수도 거의 유사함을 알 수 있었다. 따라서, ICM과 TE를 differential labelling하는 기법은 수정란의 quality를 평가하는데 매우 유용한 기법으로서 착상전 embryo 발달을 연구하는데 효과적으로 이용될 수 있다는 것을 시사한다. 고도의 유의차를 나타낸 반면 비수구, 초생수로구 및 Bromegrass 목초구 간에는 아무런 유의차가 인정되지 않았다. 7. 농지보전 처리구인 배수구와 초생수로구는 비처리구에 비해 낮은 침두 유출량과 낮은 토양유실량을 나타내었다.구보다 14% 절감되는 것으로 나타났다.작용하는 것으로 사료된다.된다.정량 분석한 결과이다. 시편의 조성은 33.6 at%

Stress Reduction Methods of GFRP/Mg Single Lap Bonded Joints : Finite Element Analysis (GFRP/Mg 단일겹치기 접착 체결부의 응력집중 저감에 관한 연구 : 유한요소해석)

  • In this study, the stress reduction effect was evaluated for GFRP/Mg single lap bonded joints according to six different adherend shapes. Six different types of the single lap joint specimen were modeled and assessed using geometrically nonlinear finite element analysis. Moreover, three dimensional effect of stress distribution for the different adherend shapes was investigated. From the analysis, the dissimilar single lap bonded joint with the normal tapering and without the spew fillet (model 2) showed the highest stress values. In contrast, the peel stress values of both the square ended adherends with the spew fillet (model 3) and the reverse tapered adherends with the spew fillet (model 5) were 65.8% and 65.5% lower than the reference model.
