This study investigated the structural characteristics of Taxus cuspidata communities on Mt. Hambaek. The vegetation consisted of 9 species in the T$_1$(tree) layer, 35 species in the T$_2$(subtall tree) layer, 28 species in the S(shrub) layer, and 69 species in the H(herb) layer. The dominant species of the T$_1$ layer was Taxus cuspidata and that of the T$_2$ layer was Acer tschonoskii var, rubripes. The dominant species of the S layer was Tripterygium regelii, and the dominant species of the H layer was Pseudostellaria palibiniana. The diameter distribution of the dominant five species in the T$_1$ and T$_2$ layers indicates that these Taxus cuspidata forests may be gradually dominated by Quercus mangolica and by Tripterygium regelii. The composition of biological type was Ph-D$_1$-R$_{5}$-e.
This study was conducted to obtain the fundamental data for the ecological management in the Pinus koraiensis natural forest in Seoraksan National Park. The community types of the P. koraiensis forest were divided into Ainsliaea acerifolia group and Rhododendron schlippenbachii group. A. acerifolia group was subdivided into Acer tschonoskii var. rubripes subgroup and Calamagrostis arundinacea subgroup. The importance value of major species showed higher value in the order like Pinus koraienses, Abies nephrolepis, Acer barbinerve, Betula ermani, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum, Sorbus commixta and Quercus mongolica. The value of species diversify ranged from 0.44 to 0.86, and showed stronger competition in the interspecific association than in the intraspecific one. The number of individuals of P. koraiensis below 10 centimeters in the 15 study sites was 35, and it was considered that the population of P. koraiensis could be succeeded to the other species in the present situation because of lower frequency in the low layer though the canopy of tree layer was dominated with P. koraiensis. The radial growth patterns of P. koraiensis individuals were mainly fluctuated for the entire life time, which was considered to be caused by frequent disturbance.
This study was carried out to investigate the structural characteristics of Taxus cuspidate communities in Mt. DuckYoo. The vegetation was consisted of 20 species in the T$_1$(tree) layer, 26 species in the T$_2$(subtall tree) layer, 26species in S(shrub) layer, and 56 species in the H(herb) layer. The dominant species of Mt. Duckyoo was Taxus cuspidata in the T$_1$ Layer, Acer tschonoskii var. rubripes in the T$_2$ Layer, Tripterygium regelii and Acer tschonoskii var. rubripes in the S Layer and Sasa borealis in the H Layer. According to the diameter distribution of high ranking five species in T$_1$, T$_2$ layer at natural Taxus cuspidata communities, these forests may be gradually replaced by Quercus mongolica, Tripterygium regelii. The composition of biological type was Ph-D$_1$-R$\sub$5/-e.

To investigate the structure and the conservation strategy of natural forest at Turobong-Sangwangbong area in Odaesan, 19 plots(10*10m) were set up with random sampling method. Several characteristics - needle injury, rate of fallen needle, stem injury, shoot and twig, apical dominance, tree form- of Abies nephrolepis and Tavus cuspidata were investigated with checklist. Two groups(Taxus cuspidata community and Quercus mongolica-Betula ermanii community) were classified by cluster analysis. High positive correlations were prover between Taxus cuspidata and Tripterygium regelii, Sorbus commixta; Quercus mongolica and Euonymus sieboldianus. High negative correlations were proved between Taxus cuspidata and Abies nephrolepis, Quercus mongolica and Betula ermanii; Abies nephrolepis and Trioterygum regelii. Species diversity(H') of investigated area was 0.9608-1.24990. Mean score of Abies nephrolepis was calculated at 6.1 point and ratio of dead individuals was 10.9%. Mean score of Taxus cuspidata was calculated at 17.3 point. Injury of Taxus cuspieata was classified three types, such as branch dieback, wound cavity on the stem and crooked stem.
The mature fruit of Sorbus commixta is known as magaja in Korea and is consumed in the form of tea and wine. In addition, it has been used to treat hypertension and articular neuralgia in folk medicine. In this study, the ethanol extract of magaja and its subsequent organic solvent fractions were prepared, and their in vitro anti-coagulation, and platelet aggregation inhibitory activities were evaluated. Among the fractions, the ethylacetate fraction demonstrated significant inhibition against thrombin, prothrombin, blood coagulation factors and platelet aggregation, without hemolysis activity up to 0.5 mg/ml. Our results suggest that the ethylacetate fraction of magaja has the potential to be used as a new anti-coagulation agent.

For the study, 366 copies of questionnaire were distributed among and collected from Korean women in their 20s to 60s between April and May 2016. To investigate the utility of anti-oxidant beers that contain extracts of natural substance respectively, the anti-oxidantive activity were measured and preference for anti-oxidant craft beers was surveyed among the subjects. The result suggested that the subjects had positive perception toward drinking, Korean adult women highly prefer beer among different types of alcoholic beverage, and the form of drinking changed according to the stamina, mood, situation, place, and company. Also, natural substance extracts showed high levels of antioxidant effects and, in the survey on preference for craft beers, the aronia group scored higher than other groups. The findings in this study suggest, for Korean adult women, beer with anti-oxidant ingredients can be beneficial for skin and overall health. Also, the findings can be used as basic data related to drinking among adult women and development of anti-oxidant beer. The Journal of Digital Policy & Management. We carried out this study to identify the vegetation structure of Abies nephrolepis Maxim. in the southern region of Gangwon-do. We conducted field investigations in 192 stands (400 m2). We analyzed the importance, value, and species diversity of the stands after classifying community type using the methods of the Z-M School of Phytosociology and two-way indicator species analysis (TWINSPAN). We classified the stand structure of A. nephrolepis into th e A. nephrolepis-Acer pseudosieboldianum community, We classified the A. nephrolepis-Dryopteris crassirhizoma community, as an A. nephrolepis typical community. We identified A. nephrolepis, Quercus mongolica, Betula ermanii, Sorbus commixta, Tilia amurensis, and Acer pseudosieboldianum as having high importance value.
Objectives : In order to investigate the possibility of Sorbus commixta Heal. stem (SC) as a natural material, antioxidant activities of the hot water and ethanol extracts were examined. Methods : The samples of SC were pulverized, and fractions were extracted repeatedly three times from hot water and 70% ethanol at room temperature for 2 hours. The antioxidant activities were analyzed from total polyphenol, flavonoid contents, DPPH, ABTS, hydroxyl radical, $Fe2^+$ chelating, and nitrite scavenging activity. Results : Total polyphenol contents were significantly higher in ethanol extract group ($504.39{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) than in hot water extract group ($364.64{\mu}g/m{\ell}$). Total flavonoid contents were also significantly higher in ethanol extract group ($160.09{\mu}g/m{\ell}$) than in hot water extract group ($124.59{\mu}g/m{\ell}$). DPPH, ABTS, $Fe2^+$ chelating were slightly higher in ethanol extract gorups than in hot water extract groups, and increased in a dose-dependent manner. The hydroxyl radical scavenging activity (18.42~23.61%) of ethanol extract groups were shown to be approximately twice higher than that (7.63~10.37%) of hot water extract groups at $12.5{\sim}50{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ concentration. Nitrite scavenging activities of both ethanol and hot-water extract groups were shown to be higher in a dose dependent manner at the concentration of $12.5{\sim}50{\mu}g/m{\ell}$ at pH 3.0 than at pH 1.2, and ethanol extract groups (86.55~96.64%) had higher activity than the hot water extract groups (42.59~92.63%), which was higher than that of the control group antioxidant BHT (72.96~80.11%). Conclusions : The extracts of SC displayed antioxidant activities which suggested a natural material can be developed to functional material.
